I am a professional luthier (I repair guitar for 15 years now)and I do that now as a big part-time job. I have installed this one on a Yamaha FG-450SA. A good old one yamaha. The guitar sound equal on all the spectrum (acoustically) but no extreme volume and/or projection.

This was the first pickup installed on this guitar. The installation was as usual compared at all the other brans of pickups; a matter of time and precision. This was the first time for me to deal with an B-Band pickup. I have installed a lot of fishman's ,e.p.m.'s ,L.R. Baggs's , Artec's , Highlander's , name it...

I choose B-Band this time because I can order it directly from the distributor and My Guru (My lutherie professor) was impressed by the sound of those one's. The guitar owner's to come to my shop with that one in his hand. So, I give it a try!

The only cons for me is the "no sidemount" battery compartiment. But if you change frequently your strings you can do that at the same time...

Sound : 10
I have a little fender (15 watts) near my bench. I try everything on that first. My first words where WOW! I'ts just the original sound of that guitar but louder! Nothing was lost. NOTHING! That is the first time I like the sound of a preamp without touching the e.q's.O.K. If that thing sound good there, it must sound incredible on a big amp.

I then try it on a Fender FM100H head with homebuild cab. O.k., that's is not an acoustic guitar amp but that's my main test amp.Again, I deal with this amp for 5 years now so I know when it sound's goog or not in my shop. If this sound's good here, imagine on a Fishman Loudbox...

I put the volume higher and higher and higher without feedback.I don't know how they do this but the anti-feedback settings really works. If you go onstage put an Feedback Buster on the soundhole yes, there is a limit to this feature hu!

The onboard tuner works like a charm, quick recognition of the notes and very high precise tuning (I compared the tuned strings with Peterson's strobe).

Overall Rating : 10
I am not only a guitar repairman. I play guitar, bass, mandolin and drums.

I repeat that the only negative thing is that the battery box must be mounted inside the guitar, no exterior access but the battery life is very good so...if you change strings often (as you are supposed to be) that is not a major problem.

To be really honnest with everybody who read this lines, I consider now only proposing to my customers the B-Band pickups and preamps for guitar preamplification.

Nothing less!
