Features :
Pickup features: single coil-----passive---Acoustic soundhole pickup
Impedence or other specs: not sure?

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Martin D-28
Position: middle
Pickup being replaced: Martin Goldplus under saddle
Other pickups on guitar: NA
Artists using this pickup: dont know? Old dudes
You musical style(s): Alot of styles
Reason for pickup change: wanted an old warm vintage tone--------tired of the peizo shrillness

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: warm-------clean
Tone: adjustable pole pieces-----nice balance
Sonic evaluation: This is an old soundhole pickup that sounds sweet and warm-----maybe not a true acoustic sound to some people--but it pleases me. It has the cool metal trim with a large white (yellowed)single coil pickup (kinda like a big fat strat pkup) w/ adjustable BIG poles. It also has a thumb wheel volume built into it --so you can roll it up or down while plucking. It has a wire clip on one side and the other has a couple swing tabs that grip with little pointy metal barbs. Gotta be carefull when installing it in a nice guitar. It has felt pads to protect your top finish. Got it used and in original shape. Has a long cable to plug to your amp. Im gonna install a endpin jack and wire it that way. Want a cool looking vinatge pickup that sounds great(IMO). Surf the music stores and rummage sales in search of one of these old beauty's--------you wont be unhappy!

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: all kinds of different styles---------fits in the soundhole

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: Right now-------This thing sounds very cool to my ears. Its a nice departure from the plucky-piezo under saddle transducers. I love it! I plugged it into a Fender practice amp (25 watt trans) and its wonderfull. Havent tried it on stage yet , to see if it feedback a lot? I just love the looks and the WARM tones. Nice balance with adj-poles. It what i was looking for. I hope no one steals it----because they would most likely be stealing my D-28 in the process. That would suck big time!

Features :
Pickup features: single coil acoustic guitar pickup
Impedence or other specs: no clue

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: gibson J 45 (61) and Kay jumbo (50's)
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Dean markley pro mag and Martin 322something
Other pickups on guitar: none
Artists using this pickup: everybody in the 50's and 60's -and I mean everybody!
You musical style(s): whatever pops up in my heart
Reason for pickup change: wanted a vintage sound

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: medium level output - this is like a strat p.u. with adjustable magnets
Tone: very fine balance between strings is achivable. tone is definetly not hifi, and arguably not even 'true' acoustic, this is kind of an electric feel, but still..
Sonic evaluation: I play this over valve amps, not really hifi, not really true acoustic. But definetly retro and really really good. I bought this cuz' I get tired of the modern transducer-approach.thats soudns shrill to my ears. This pickup has none of that, it lacks the true acoustic sound i Guess. But still, it has a beatiful, warm sound that still gives kind of an acoustic feel (or is that because I'm playing an acoustic?) very balanced, very warm an d still very open. Amazing pickup! I plug it into electric guitar valve amps ( music man, fender, and some smaller class A tube amps. It sounds very retro, just what I'm after...
Drawback is the tendency to feedback. And i mean that it really howls! It makes playing at volume a very adventurous experience, that's why I do not play it over my marshall! but when you can controll it, this thing really makes your guitar sing.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play lots of things, mainly blues/countrybased songstrumming though. My background is electric guitar (rock!) and I'm not really after a 'real' acoustic sound. Whats more, this baby is THE pickup taht everybody used in the old days, look up any picture, there it is in the soundhole of any acoustic - and I mean any acoustic!

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: If stolen, I would buy another, if I still can! These babies fetch high prices... I been playing for 30 yrs now and own lots of good stuff. I bought this cuz' I get tired of the modern transducer-approach.thats soudns shrill to my ears. This pickup has none of that, it lacks the true acoustic sound i Guess. But still, it has a beautiful, warm sound that still gives kind of an acoustic feel (or is that because I'm playing an acoustic?) very balanced, very warm and still very open. Amazing pickup! plugged into electric guitar valve amps it sounds very retro, just what I'm after...
Much warmer then the Markley, much more soulfull then the Martin transducer. It has THE sound I was after.
