Model of guitar or bass: Martin D35 (1973)

Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s):
Reason for pickup change:

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Typical output level
Tone: With the EMG pre-amp it was pretty natural, if anything very rich in the low end
Sonic evaluation: I have used it straight into the main pa board but usually thrugh an Digitech RP-10.
It seems well behaved and has a rich warm sound - (my guitar is an older Martin D-35 and is
sounding pretty good these days). I don't have any complaints about the sound - in fact I pretty much like it a lot.
The trouble I have had is likely genereral with this type of system and that is balance between the different strings.
I wish someone would come up with a system that let you adjust the individual string levels.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Vineyard style worship - some up tempo and some folk/country/rock styles

Overall Rating : 8
Comments: I have been playing for over 20 years and I would recomend this to my friends.
I complained to EMG about some level of distortion I was getting and they
replaced the pre-amp section without charge. I LIKE that in a company!

Features :
Pickup features: piezo under-bridge strip for acoustic guitar, with endpin jack
Impedence or other specs: very high impedence, passive circuit

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Yamaha 6-string acoustic
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: none
Other pickups on guitar: none
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): folk
Reason for pickup change:

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: needs an outboard preamp, since there's no battery.
Tone: Typical ugly piezo quack.
Sonic evaluation: By itself, it sounds rather artificial.
By running it through a Boss GX-700 I can make it sound almost like an acoustic guitar. I use compression, EQ, noise gate, reverb (to simulate the guitar's natural acoustic reverb from the sound box) and speaker emulation.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable:

Overall Rating : 4
Comments: I bought it on a college student's budget. These days I'd go for an L.R. Baggs Dual Source.
