Comments: The Fishman has upgraded my 'poor mans Martin'. It's very balanced and gives my guitar a nicely balanced, crispy tone with enough bass in it. Very beautifull!

You musical style(s): fingerpicking, only use it at home.
Reason for pickup change: This Ovation did't have one
Sound

No Opinion
Perceived output level: With its pre-amp: fine, you don't need more output. very low level of buzzes or other things you don't want to hear.
Tone: The Ovation sounds hard and direct from itself, so I was a bit worried about installing a piezo. But it came out right: It just brings out the natural sound of the Ovation. you have to like it but I think it is great. Clear and balanced. Don't have to equalise much.
Sonic evaluation: Ovation plus Laney LA30C.

Comments: I play for 25 years. Have this Ovation Balladeer Special,a Martin D28, an Amalio Burguet 3M and a Fender Statocaster.
This is the first piezo a have, so I cannot compare it to others, but I did not have any regrets since the 5 years I have it.
This pickup won't let you down, I would buy it any time again. The installing is really easy.
Put your amp 10 feet away, put a little chorus to it and off you go!!
I highly recommend this pickup.

Perceived output level: Hot Output, Good Sound
Tone: very balanced, but a tad too much bass, if you have a jumbo (like me) get the natural II
Sonic evaluation: This pickup has a strong low end. It's pretty balanced and not too "quacky" Overall it sounds pretty good. It to me it sounds a little processed and not as natural as I would like, but still a good to great sound. Beware, you must use the included preamp or you will be sorry!

Comments: It's a good pickup. Nice and balanced, although maybe a little too processed. I have tried the Baggs LB6, the Baggs Ribbon Transducer, and a handfull of other pickups. Check out my review with sound samples at http://www.kiphaynes.com/acoustic

Perceived output level: This pickup is pretty hot. It puts out alot of sound/tone
Tone: A little on the high side, but I'm playing it through an SHS 4 port powered mixer. see comment below.
Sonic evaluation: No amp, just a low end powered mixer. Even with the Eq flat this thing is awsome. It's a little on the high/tinny side, but I play hard, and the mixer sucks. It puts out ALOT of sound and great tone. A little Eq tweak and it'll sound good even through the crappiest mixer/amp.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Folk/rock, reggea. This thing is pretty versatile. Only way to get it sounding better is to get some crazy pre-amp/Eq.

Comments: This is definitely something you should consider if you are looking to put in a pickup, or even replace one.
I didn't want to go too high end as my guitar retails for about 350.00. Paid 200.00 to have it installed and was worth every penny. Also put in a "TUSQ" saddle. If your going to do it you may as well put in a quality saddle. I HIGHLY recommend "TUSQ".
Also, if you live in the Raleigh/Durham area, you NEED to check out Harry's Guitar Shop. They know their stuff. As I said, it was worth every penny, and they won't do you wrong.
