Features :
Pickup features: Unidirectional condensor mic run on a single AA battery
Impedence or other specs: signal/noise ratio-[+60db] Impedance-[low(10,000 ohms)] sensitivity-[-47db]

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Johnson jr400 resonator
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced:
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): Blues, slide, fingerpick
Reason for pickup change: I wanted a pick-up to give the true resonator sound and not have to drill anything into the guitar

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level:
Tone: A little bassy sound , but everything can be changed by the placement of the mic. Feedback is very picky to control
Sonic evaluation: Using the PA set-up in the coffee house where I play, I have been told it sounds okay. It does do what I ask it by being a true sound, but as I said before, the feedback issue is a concern. A real advantage is it sounds good in the sound hole of my Seagull, too. So the versatility of it makes it worth the price of admission. I have also tried it with my Guild songbird with a Fishman pick-up system in combination. The sound there wasn't what I expected, but I'm sure if I tweaked it enough, it would work for me

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: For the resonator, this seems to be a good match. A transducer pick-up just seemed to make it sound so normal.Finding the right spot for placement is the real key. I tried a lot of places and the one that worked the best was INSIDE the cone, through a vent hole in the cover, trying to get the mic as close to the center of the cone as possible

Overall Rating : 8
Comments: If it broke, I don't think I'd buy it again because, hell, it's not supposed to break. Lost or stolen, I'd replace it. The fact of the price played into it because any other condensor soundhole mic was upwards from 139.00. For what I do, coffeehouse gigs and basement jam sessions, it's perfect.
