This pedal constantly amazes me I've used it through Marshalls,Fenders, Direct and it never ceases to deliver killer sound. It sounds good with any pickup. Being a session player in NYC,I play many different types of music and my own CDs are always radically different. I like pedals that have a wide range and this pedal is one of them. When I get a call for a session it's usally the first pedal I pack because of it's versatility and the fat lead sound it givesme.

I have been playing a long time and variety is my whole thing. I was with the Joe Jackson Band for 7 years, I make hip hop sample CDs, play sessions, compose music for movies and TV shows etc.... I like equipment that's versatile and easy to use. The best thing I can say about the Zen Drive is that U plug it in, and it sounds great. End of story. No tweaking around with a lot of knobs marked with ultra cool"street" like names. This pedal has: Volume, Gain, Tone, Voice. That's it. Very simple. Deadly effective. Just tune it in to your taste and it ROCKS!!! Sweet, fat sound. I have like 60 distortion boxes and this a pedal i go to a lot. My new CD Swinging Guitar Sounds of Young America is an homage to radically different types of music and groups. Each cut is completely different than the one preceding it. A Beatle like cut is followed by a Chicago Blues or bluegrass tune, Beck like space blues, BeBop jazz, Beach Boys Earth Wind and Fire, Western Swing, etc... I acquired the Zen Drive towards the end of recording and it proved to be exactly the right sound for a song called "Ringo" which is a Beatle tribute. I needed a good George Harrison slide sound and the Zen Drive nailed it exactly. I went direct as well! Not many pedals can pull that off. If anything happened to this pedal I would have to replace it immediately. Oh yeah .I almost forgot. It's a very cool looking pedal as well.
