Features :
Piezo-pickup builit in resonator biscuit, active

Instrument :
National Style 0 through Focusrite Tone Factory preamp in PA

Sound : 9
This pickup has by far the best sound of all pickups i tried in the National. I've tried Fichman active an passive and a Schatten pickup. The Highlander beats them all. It is loud an balanced and has enough bass.

Overall Rating : 9
If it was stolen, I would buy it definitely again

Features :
Pickup features: Active, under-saddle pickup
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Larrivee D10
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: None
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup: Tracy Chapman
You musical style(s): Christian Praise and Worship/Rock/Folk
Reason for pickup change: One of my guitar repair guys highly recommended the Highlander due to its unique design and positioning - he said the material they used in the Highlander is similar to high tech military sensing devices. It may be a crock, but I took his word for it, got the pickup and haven't regretted it in the least.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Medium
Tone: Good balance between highs and lows and mids. Great, great pickup so far!
Sonic evaluation: I honestly haven't played with it enough to evaluate it clearly, but it definitely sounds better than the Fishman Rare Earth humbucking pickups, the L.R. Baggs i-beam, and the Fishman Matrix pixkups I've had in the past. This highlander is unique and quiet and clear and just great to have on my Larrivee. I plan on installing this pickup in all of my guitars.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Christian praise and worship in a rock concert type setting.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I've become a Highlander man. I was thinking about the B-Band with the dual piezo and contact pickup that the Larrivee's are now installing at the factory, but it was too costly and invasive. I took a risk on trusting my guitar repair guy, but now that I've got one in, I'm totally pleased. Like I said, I don't want to hassle with the other gimmicks out there (I was not pleased with the Baggs i-beam at all), and will stay with something solid, quiet and nice like this Highlander.

Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Guild D-25
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: Dean Markley Sweet Spot
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup: ?
You musical style(s): R&B-influenced folk/pop
Reason for pickup change: Old pickup was intermittent.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Loud
Tone: Balanced - not too crisp
Sonic evaluation: I run the Guild into a Baggs preamp into the PA. This thing sounds great - it has a natural tone, with minimal nasal piezo "quack".

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: R&B-tinged folk/pop

Overall Rating : 9
Comments: I was sorry to read the previous reviewer's bad experience - my own experience is good with this unit - my new pickup worked out great on a 3-hour job last weekend. The acoustic tone of my guitar is still there. The pickup is quiet and reliable, and the tone is as good as I've ever heard from a piezo.

Features :
Pickup features: piezo
Impedence or other specs: who knows? :-)

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: National "Resolectric"
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: none (except the fishmans i USED to use)
Other pickups on guitar: seymour duncan p-90
Artists using this pickup: plenty of them
You musical style(s): strange solo acoustic stuff
Reason for pickup change:

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: i get a pretty hot signal from mine, seems to be more gain than my other acoustics
Tone: very balanced
Sonic evaluation: love the pickup! it's the best thing i have ever heard for a National resonater guitar.....has to be heard to be believed! i even like it better than miking the guitar with an expensive condensor mic.....and there's very little feedback. i'm very happy

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: if you have a National, and want to play it out live, THIS is the ticket.....

Overall Rating : 9
Comments: never heard anything better for amplifying a National guitar.....i may have to replace my fishman pickups in my other standard acoustics with the Highlander, it sounds so good....
