Features :
Passive, stick on.

Instrument :
Laniaki tenor ukulele.

Sound : 10
Output is excellent. Acoustic amp right now. Sounds exactly like the instrument.

Overall Rating : 10
Id say this pickup would work an anything. For the ukulele players out there, run do not walk to where ever you buy stuff and get this. External or internal. Id say internal mount as you wont be replacing it. It will blow you away. Ive been down the road with other pickups in my guitars. It's come down to K & K, Baggs M1 active, and Highlander for resos. Accept no substitutes.

Perceived output level: Output is amazing for a passive pickup. LOUD!!!!
Tone: balanced & clean in any amp I've played it through
Sonic evaluation: I use whatever amp or PA system is available....no preamp.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: It works for ALL styles...and is AFFORDABLE!!

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: No modifications....No batteries (I despise batteries!!!)....My classical sounds like a classical should! 'Nuff said!!!
FYI: K&K also makes the Big Shot Internal model for those who wish for internal installation in their instrument(s).

Comments: I purchased two 15" diameter pine bar stool seats (from Lowe's). I cut a 1" outer rim from one of the 15" wood circles and glued it to the bottom of the other (wood glue). I superglued the Big Shot transducer to the bottom of the circular platform at a point where the ball of my foot would naturally make contact with the top of the platform. I drilled a 1/2" hole in the rim base to securely install the enpin jack. I then sanded, stained and varnished the wood to my liking (but not necessary). While stumming or picking my guitar, I tap my foot on the circular platform giving a nice deep, loud thumping noise. I can vary the tone by tapping my foot on different locations on the platform. It's great for keeping rhythm and adds a nice driving bass presence. I plan to experiment with different woods (oak, poplar, mahagony, douglas fir, etc.) for future models. The whole thing cost me less than $60 and about a day to construct...much cheaper than $250-$450 for the Porchboard...though I'm sure the Porchboard is much more technilogically advanced and better constructed. It does the trick.
The Big Shot is a great match for this self-accompanying percussion instrument.

Comments: I like not having to put in a battery or recarve my saddle. I would buy it again. I am buying their Pure Western next, to permanently install in a Taylor.
I like it all. Just wish it came with more sticky film. I used it up trying this on all my guitars.
A passive volume control that clips on the soundhole would be nice.
Anybody make one?
Oh, the people at K & K are the greatest. Very nice and responsive to questions. It is the best value out there in pickups for acoustic guitar!
