Features :
Under saddle soundboard sensors (mini's) and microphone. Purchased system with outboard (belt clip) preamp. EQ and volume for both pickups.

Instrument :
Self installed in a Maton BG808 basic model that had no pickup. No instrument mod required. Very easy, yet tricky, install. Be very careful if you do this yourself. It's really not that hard just nerve racking using super glue near the soundboard finish.

Sound : 10
My only disappointment with this pickup is that my eternal search for near perfect acoustic amplification is over. This system rocks! Very clean, clear reproduction of a great sounding guitar. Reacts well to effects (reverb/delay.) Volumes up well, and the Trinity Stereo preamp is a bonus (comes with stereo cable.) I loop my effects into the FX loop of a Baggs PARA DI. XLR out to a Yamaha StagePass 500, 1/4" output to a Genz Benz 60 input channel. Very sweet setup. All the volume, low and high end I'll ever need. The Genz 60 is a very nice monitor/practice/small venue amp. It has no effects send/return loop, Baggs PARA DI FX loop works perfectly to fill the void. (Sorry for the Genz/Baggs plug here.)

Overall Rating : 10
Played for 40+ years. Tried about every type of pickup for an acoustic guitar. I like this system the best, very natural. Would replace. Will outfit other guitars with it. A wee bit prone to feedback with the mic. Sound hole plug reduces feedback very well. Wish I had tried it sooner, saved the best for last. I had no problems with the installation. I did tape off the soundboard to protect against a super glue drip. Can you imagine what that would do to the finish, ouch. Take your time, be careful and you'll reap the rewards.

Features :
Pickup features: bridge soundboard pup + inboard mini-mic
Impedence or other specs: I didn't got to MIT or Cal Tech

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Larrivee J-10KK (all koa)
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: n/a
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): acoustic instrumental: Kottke, Michael Hegdes, Preston Reed
Reason for pickup change:

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level:
Tone: balanced
Sonic evaluation: It sounds reallllllllly good. Very little to no quack and very neutral sounding. Remarkably so and for the price it's a steal.
NOTE: To my dissapointment the in-board K&K mic cannot be powered by a DTAR Solstice or LR Baggs Mix Pro.
I run this into the K&K Outboard 2 ch preamp which has bass/mid/treble controls for each channel inside the preamp box. There are volume channels for the two outputs but no phase switch; the latter would be a nice addition.
I run usually into the house PA. At home I have an Ultrasound DS-50 and a rack with a Kern IP777 preamp, Crown K2 power amp, and Euphonic Audio VL-210 cab. The latter is my bass rig but it turns out to be a phenominal way to amplify the acoustic.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: acoustic instrumental: Hedges, Kotke, Preston Reed but all original material

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I listened to sound samples on the web and to my ears this sounded the best. And now that it's in my guitar I am truly impressed, have no regrets, and feel that nothing is missing from the amplified tone.
A phase switch on the preamp would be nice but so far I've not had problems with feedback at my live gigs. If it does creep up, just move or back down one of the volumes on the preamp. But I always do a soundcheck first and I don't have any comlaints here.
I have gotten compliments on the tone.
My Martin HD-28 has a Sunrise soundhole pup and Fishman Thinline pickup. That sounds great but was far more expensive than the K&K and I think the K&K does sound more natural and uncolored.

Features :
Pickup features: Combo system with mic, three mini transducers, and preamp for steel-string guitars with small size bridgeplates.
Impedence or other specs: http://www.kksound.com/minitrinitywestern.htm

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: 1931 Martin 2 -17 "Little Sweetie"
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Would NEVER allow a pickup to be installed in this instrument before this one!
Other pickups on guitar: Would NEVER consider anything else!
Artists using this pickup: David E. Moretto
You musical style(s): Original Fingerstyle Open Tuning & Piedmont Blues
Reason for pickup change: I installed this pickup system on the recommendation of a very trusted pair of ears.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Nice balance between the transducer and the mic.
Tone: Glorious - Woody Soundstage
Sonic evaluation: I record straight out of the preamp directly into my digital recorder always 100% DRY. The electronics are very low self noise and their ingenious space saving design puts them inside the preamp case out of the way. Both transducer and mic are free from sonic signature revealing all there is to behold from this vintage Martin.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Original Fingerstyle Open Tuning & Piedmont Blues

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: Over the years I have had the opportunity to record this guitar with many a classic microphone but frankly, I was always left wanting. The WOOD and AIR achieved in my recordings with the K & K Sound Mini Trinity Western is EXACTLY what I have been hearing in my thick Italian head all these years!
Thank you Dieter.
