Features

Volume and tone controls. Ribbon active transducer. Endpin jack. Simple standard type.

I play it through a Cripple Creek M model acoustic. I also have a Martin 000-16SGT with a Fishman gold.

It's ok, but not stellar. Compared to the Fishman, it's thin, even when I roll the tone all the way to the bass, there's not much definition. This has too much of the high-end artifact that Taylors are known for. I dislike Taylors, so I'm not much of a fan. I may find another guitar to put this into. The only reason I switched from Fishman is because I had two of their pickups die on me in the same week.

I have their active DI, which I really like and will probably use between this guitar and my Roland Acoustic amp, just to give the C/C more punch. I'd buy an X-bridge, which is what my Strat has, but I'd never buy another dedicated LR Baggs acoustic p/u. If an item doesn't end up with at least a 7. I'd rather look for something else.

Perceived output level: Pretty hot. I usually have to keep the level down on both the preamp and the mixer in comparison to other (especially Fishman) pickups. Most definitely one of the cleanest sounding preamps.
Tone: Pretty well balanced. I usually don't need to make EQ adjustments on the mixer.
Sonic evaluation: I plug into a Boss Tu-2(?) chromatic pedal tuner, a Boss CE-5 chorus ensemble pedal and a Boss CE-3 chorus pedal. Then from there, I use either a Rapco minature DI box (approx. $30) or an LR Baggs Para Acoustic DI. From there, I usually do into a snake which plugs into a mixer at the campus ministry.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Praise and Worship usually, but I do play other stuff for fun when I'm not trying to lead worship.

Comments: If this was lost or stolen, I'd at first cry; then, I'd have to suck it up and get a new guitar with LR Baggs electronics in it. I'd personally would probably forgo having a fancy control panel for the simpler look of having the preamp mounted with adhesive on the inside and using the RT System optional remote for controls just to not have a hole on the side of my guitar. In most cases, I'd have to order the guitar without electronics and then get this setup installed whenever the guitar gets to the dealer. I've been debating whether or not to get a Dual Source since it's the same thing but includes a condenser microphone, but I decided that it wouldn't do me any good on stage anyway. After listening to an LR Baggs RT system and a Fishman Matrix side-by-side, I was sold on Baggs for its hot, clean sound. So far, the only thing that I haven't liked is having the preamp unstick to the inside of my guitar. After explaining my situation to a technician at LR Baggs, they sent me new and improved adhesive and modified installation instructions that better deals with Mississippi heat and humidity. So far, this LR Baggs RT System and Seagull guitars are some of the best sound combinations that I've heard for the money. You'd have to go for a much more expensive guitar to match this sound, and you'd probably have to use LR Baggs Electronics. Then again, this is about the pickup, not the guitar. =)

Reason for pickup change: Because the pro mag is a single coil it buzzes, and all it picks up is the sound of the strings, so it sounds more like an electric than an acoustic.

Perceived output level: This pickup is LOUD.
Tone: It has great low end and amazing high end. I added the optional volume/tone control (for the extra $30 it's worth it) which Helps give it a nice top end boost. This is the best sounding piezo I've ever played.
Sonic evaluation: I was going into a Zoom 504 acoustic pedal, but one time the pedal got turned off and it sounded better with just the pickup!

Comments: I would definitely buy the RT system again (and probably will for future acoustics). The only bad thing is that the strap jack keeps coming loose, although I might have installed it wrong. The intallation was realy easy, although if you install it yourself it voids the warranty.
