Features
:
Pickup features: Piezo bridge replacement
Impedence or other specs: High impedance piezo
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Fender Strat
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: None. Replaces bridge and adds pickup
Other pickups on guitar: Original 3 Strat pickups
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): Acoustic Pop/Rock
Reason for pickup change: Needed an 'acoustic' sound with versatility for leads
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: About the same as the Fender originals
Tone: I'll go with crystalline / glassy. But not brittle
Sonic evaluation: You NEED a decent acoustic amp. It sounds like crap played through a guitar amp (muddy, distorted ...). It sounds great played through my stereo with Bose speakers. Get a good, wide band, clean setup. With a small amount of reverb/chorus, it will blow you away.
A real plus is that you can blend in the magnetic pickups with the piezo to add some bump to the bottom end, for example. You cannot mix the mag and piezo in the guitar without a preamp because the piezo needs a high impedance input. Run a stero cable to two signal channels and process them separately. Or, put a switch in the guitar with the original mono output.
Bottom line: You get an 'amplified acoustic' sound with the playability of a Strat. This is not 'coffee house/Martin/Taylor' acoustic but pop/pub acoustic. If you need a real acoustic sound, buy one of the true acoustic guitars.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Pub 'acoustic' Pop songs, lead fills and backup.
Overall Rating
:
9
Comments: Rating: 9.5: I installed it myself and had to route out the jack pocket to accomodate the slightly larger stereo jack. Otherwise a 10.
If lost/stolen, I would get another. I would buy another Strat just to put this pickup in it. It installs easily. In fact, don't buy a new hybrid before you try one of these.
Playing many years; Various amps and guitars, including Ovation acoustic.
I love the sound of pickup. It does the job. It sonically expands the capabilities of the guitar. It would be nice to have EQ and mix inside the guitar instead of running a stero cable, but that is a major install.
Test drove an Ovation Elite, Takamine high end???, Taylor. Nice, but I only wanted to carry one guitar, and the above will not give you an electric sounding lead.
Am I satisfied? ABSOLUTELY. I highly recommend this pickup to any Strat owner that wants to get an acoustic sound. It solved my problem.

Features
:
Pickup features: Piezo's; passive pickups, active pre-amp (optional)
Impedence or other specs:
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Fender Stratocaster (FrankenStrat made from Fender Parts)
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: Stock brodge
Other pickups on guitar: Seymour Duncan Alnico Pro Strat
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): Rock, blues, jazz, Christian
Reason for pickup change: Wanted an acoustic electric to replace the Parker Fly Deluxe that I sold
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: About equal to the magnetic pickups
Tone: crystaline and glassy - very nice
Sonic evaluation: Great acoustic/electric sound - rivals "real" acoustics with piezo's, IMHO blows away the Parker Fly I used to own, as well as an older Ovation acoustic. I run it either through a PA (via a LR Baggs Para-acoustic DI), or into a reissue Deluxe Reverb. Tried it through a Fender Acoustosonic SFX (wicked), and an SWR California Blonde (ungodly - I'm getting one of those)
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: acoustic rock (great), acoustic fingerstyle (great), blues (great), jazz (great), and Christian contemporary (also great)

Comments: If destroyed or stolen I'd be bummed; it wasn't cheap (including installation), but I'd definately replace it with an other identical unit
I've been playing for over 25 years
I love being able to switch to acoustic tones with the flick of a toggle switch; I wish it had on-board tone controls
Compared it to Mike Christian and Fishman Strat-replacement setups - not even close; it killed 'em.
As an acoustic electric, I'm *very* pleased
Amazing tones - other musicians are amazed to see me strumming a Strat and getting these sounds. Score a "10" for LR Baggs

Model of guitar or bass: Fender Strat
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: Fishman Powerbridge
Other pickups on guitar: Fender Single Coil

Reason for pickup change: Not happy with acoustic sound from Fishman Powerbridge.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: equivalent to stock standard pickups
Tone: balanced and "amazingly" naturally acoustic
Sonic evaluation: Rivera Sedona or SR Strawberry blonde(very cool new Amp)
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I like to be able to switch easily between electric and acoustic without switching guitars. The X-bridge and Cntrl-X(Preamp allow this!

Comments: If it were destroyed or stolen I would definitely replace the X-Bridge. Once you hear this replacement bridge you would understand why!
The best thing about this bridge is that I can switch back and forth between playing electric and acoustic with just a flip of the switch. People are amazed when they see me playing a Strat and hear a truly acoustic sound.
The guys at LR Baggs told me that I would enjoy it once I heard it and they were right on. It saved me from having to buy an lectric guitar and an acoustic guitar without sacrificing my sound.
I switched the X-Bridge for the Fishman Powerbridge simply because of the noticable difference in the acoustic tone and because of the Cntrl-X. There was no way to blend the active and passive magnetics on their bridge.
I am very satisfied with the X-Bridge and would highly recommend it! The LR Baggs web site has some detailed information on it. Check it out. www.lrbaggs.com
