Using it on a 2006 National Estralita.
Required drilling a hole for the jack.
Another pickup on this instrument wired in stereo -- a PUTW. The PUTW has a more natural sound but much too little gain to really use.

Gain is good.
I use it with an old National-Dobro amp. It sounds fine.
Well balanced for what it is. Does a good job of telling people what kind of instrument this is, but doesn't carry the beauty of the tone all that well.
I use this pickup whenever I'm in a slack club situation where people can't really hear the tone. It's great for that -- always audible, never feeds back, no nasty artifacts in the tone. But that's the limit of its ability. The pickup can't compare to a mic for recording, and if you can use a mic live then you should.
OTOH it's really unprofessional to not have enough volume or not be able to control feedback, and this pickup makes that a non-issue.

I don't know if I'd do it again if I had it to do over.
there's a huge negative: it's not thin enough for an Estralita, so the strings get half stopped on the Lace when I play above the XII fret. At that point the guitar basically doesn't work at all. And there seems to be nothing I can do to reduce the height further, e.g. remove the cover, sand down the base...
Also the thickness of the pickup means that the pick is constantly knocking against it, leaving little clicky sounds on recordings. I'm debating removing this pickup temporarily for some studio work next week, because the clicking of the pick against the pickup is bad enough to ruin a recording.
Definitely a love/hate thing here. It does a great job of making me a more reliable musician. But it takes away from a very fine instrument.

Further more, from first review. I have found that using medium gauge nickel wound strings are best for this pickup. Balance in great. Tons of signal.

2008 Thin Sensor. Humbucking.

National steel body Delphi. Always looking for something different. I've tried them all. The adhesive on the pickup is close to a permanent installation as you can get. It may take a layer of wood off removing it or damage the finish. It left a shadow on my antique finish. To do again I wouldnt use the 3M adhesive thats on the pickup. In other words its an absolute son-of-a-bitch to get the pickup off if you decide to remove it later. Maybe just remove a small part of each corner of the paper backing to stick it on.

Output level is fine. Overall ok. Still the unwound strings are louder than the rest. For chording I back off the first two strings. The rest of the strings are very nicely balanced. No it aint natural sounding but still nice.

Highlander still wins the resophonic prize. But unless you are prepared to make a nut then this would be second place.

Very thin PAF sized humbucker, with chrome cover. Fastens quickly with adhesive tape.

Installed in National vintage steel tricone. Output jack was put in the grate type holes in the upper bottom bout. It's not where I'd like it to be but good for now.

I'm happy with the output level. I wouldn't call it hot, but why would I want a hot acoustic pickup anyways.
I run it into a ernie ball volume pedal, a tuner, a baggs para di, and into PA. Also use a condenser mic. This is great for a natural sound, but it also sounds great pluged into a tube amp for a bluesy tone.

I have lots of gear, as I'm a full time pro. 35 years+. Good product and a fair price. I'm real happy.
