Features
:
Pickup features: Single coil, passive (with tone & Volume Controls). The pickup fits in the sound hole touching about the 10:00 and 2:00 positions, and a wire spring fits at the 6:00 position to wedge it in place. The only weka spot is that the cable connection to the pickup is a 3/23" micro-plug, not even a 1/8" mini plug. Still, I prefer that to the Dean Markely hard-wired cable.
Impedence or other specs: Beats me, I'm a guitar player, not a techie. But I do like the way it mounts,
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Squier DG-6
Position: middle
Pickup being replaced: None
Other pickups on guitar: None
Artists using this pickup: Beats me.
You musical style(s): Folk, Americana, Rock
Reason for pickup change: I went from no pick-up to having one.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: About the same as any passive pickup I've encountered. They call it "active" because it has volume & tome controls, but their's no power source for a pre-amp.
Tone: Reasonably well-balanced. Between the simple tone ocntrol and the fact that you can adjust the pickup height on either side, you can tailor it pretty well.
Sonic evaluation: I use a Peavy KB 100 amp, which is pretty much a one sound in, same sound out amp. I suppose I might be able to get some distortion at high volumes if I ever cranked it up. So far, I've never had occasion to try. The sound reminds me of an old single-pickup Epiphone jazz I once owned. It basically sounds like an accoustic guitar, only a lot louder, with some ability to tailor the bass or treble response. The difference you can dial in with the tone control are quite similar to simply strumming near the bridge or farther away from it.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I use this guitar for folk and Americana music. It's not perfect, but it's adequate. I wanted to be able to play acoustic guitar at higher volume. This doesn't sound as "accoustic" as a peizo transduce or internal microphone, but for less than $20, it's good enough.

Comments: If I lost it, I'd replace it with another. It's adequate for what I want, and I like the volume and tone controls, even if they're too small to change in the middle of a song. Before I bought it, I tried a Dean Markly at the local guitar store. The Dean was good, but had no controls on it at all, so I picked the Samick.
I like the sound, I don't like the micro-plug for the cable. But I prefer the micro-plug to a hard-wired cable.
I've been playing on and off for over 30 years. My main instrument is the bass, but playing a bass all by yourself isn't much fun, and I mostly play for fun and sometimes at church. I also have an old Conrad ES-335 copy that I'm happy with, and a Realistic Concertmate 980, which is purely for fun.

Features
:
Pickup features: Active hole pickup for acoustic. features are a mini volume and mini tone controls, and a detachable cable. Also has screws to adjust height.
Impedence or other specs: N/A...I don't know
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Gibson Dove Acoustic
Position: middle
Pickup being replaced: Some generic brand I never heard of
Other pickups on guitar: none
Artists using this pickup: I don't know
You musical style(s): Rock alternative, acoustic rock, blues, classical
Reason for pickup change: My former pickup did it's job, but it really wasn't versatile at all and it didn't sound all that great, so my parents got me this pickup for christmas. I know it wasn't cheap, but it's good value! lots of features for just a single littler pickup.
The old pickup didnt sound very acoustic, plus the cable was sautered to it, so after awhile the cable became worn and buzzed alot and sometimes cut out on me.
The sound and the features are a major improvement.

Perceived output level: I don't know if an acoustic pickup is supposed to be "hot", but this thing does have good response, and it really brings out the great tone of this guitar. Beautiful!
Tone: Balanced due to the tone control
Sonic evaluation: ??
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: On the acoustic, I play for my church, and I play blues, folk and acoustic rock, classical ect. This pickup suits these styles very well! You can get alot of versatility from it for it being just a hole pickup!

Comments: If this thing were stolen, I'd be bummed and I'd save up money to buy another.
If it were broken I might cry....a little.
This pickup is fantastic!
It can sound bright and spanky, or mellow and warm, or if you want, in between.
I play it through an epiphone practice amp sometimes, and it sounds fantastic!
I've had many people comment on how great the new pickup sounds compared to my old one.
