This is a follow-up to the first posting. The serial number indicates (according to one site) that the guitar was made in 1995. Another site says 1998.
The woods are: solid spruce top, stained darker, and the back & sides are mahogany, probably laminate. The neck appears to be mahogany, made from 3 pieces, headstock, neck and heel.
The change from plastic to bone saddle makes a dramatic increase in volume and a richer tone, also adding more treble.
In all, the look of the guitar with the light colored mahogany and honey-toned top, accented by abalone on headstock, fret 12 and the rosette make this a striking example of sound understated design.
I'd have to compare the sound and neck feel to a Taylor 310, and at a fraction of the cost.
If you find a used one, snap it up. It's good enough to be your main guitar or to keep for camping and gigging.

Mahogany neck, possibly koa lam back and sides, spruce top. Or it could be cdar. It's a dark honey tone. Pearly rossette, pearl logo on headstock and at fret 12. Gold hardware. Non-adjustable bridge, which I just carved a compensated bone for.
Dreadnought body. Semi matte finish. Beautifully done.
Can't find anything online about the 5030,but word that 5030's were once listed a variant that was loaded with MOP. Rumored to be reincarnated as the Yairi DY-95. Who knows? Got the age from a serial number site. Allegedly it's from 1995.
I wish Alvarez would get their serial numbering straightened out and put the info online!!

Mellow, full sound covering a wide range. Full but not overly boomy. Good volume, nice sparkle to the highs. Nice sustain. Nice gutsiness when you dig into it with a pick. Sounds better than my Yairi DY-50!
Great for lead, chords, picks and finger-style. Very accurate intonation.
A good, warm and solid sounding guitar for all sorts of music.

Just bought this 2nd hand, and it's probably 13 years old. Neck and frets are perfect. The wood's aged to a fine resonance. The finish being semi-matte doesn't take the dings like a hard gloss one, but the sound makes up for that.
Neck's unbound, but polished. Feels great on the hands. The peg holes are slotted for better bearing angle, equalling more volume and bass.

It's lasted 13 years with the original owner playing only this guitar, and shows little wear apart from a nest of dings where your arm covers the top. No bellying up, the bridge is rock solid, and the winders are like new. Great durability!

I plan to put a pickup on this and gig with it. It sounds great. And for the price, I don't mind taking it camping.
My favorite feature is it's sound.
