Mine is serial #70761 made in Japan. This is a dreadnought with spruce top, rosewood back and sides, finished in a brown transparent color. Full body and neck binding with dots and bird and clouds inlay at the twelth. This has a fast relatively thin neck taht after ten years of owning it I have never had to ajust.....knock on wood. My only complaints are that the finish has a milky appearance, almost like it has had water damage, and it has two cracks starting at the base and stopping at the bridge.

Whether your playing alternative rock, bluegrass, country, or classical, this guitar never lets me down. Depending on your style of picking you can get a nice full bodied sound. If you pick strong country leads, it will deliver the twang but with finger style classical it is soft and melodic. I have played $6000.00 dollar guitars that couldn't do what this one does on a daily basis.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Plays as good as my Strat

Reliability/Durability : 10
Other than the finish flaws I wouldn't be scared to walk onstage with this guitar at any time.

Bought it used, ten years ago....

When it's time for me to practice, this is the guitar I use. This guitar sits next to my couch and has since I bought it. Always in tune, always dependable, this will probably be the last dreadnought I will ever have to buy...thats how much I love this guitar!

Made in Japan, Serial number 70747. Laminate Top with mahogany sides and back. Thin neck with great action. Abalone inlays and A's on the headstock.

Awesome sound. I play almost every kind of music and this was the only acoustic I had for awhile so I used it for everything. Now that I have a few more acoustics, it is still the guitar that seems to be in my hands. Sounds great when picking, it has a very full sound. If every Alvarez sounds like this, WOW.

I received this guitar from my father in law for a gift, one of the best gifts I ever got except when he lent me his Alembic bass(still got it). This guitar is still in great shape had to replace the white nut on the bridge because it was sinking on one side and had truss rod adjusted just recently and now it sounds better than ever.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have dropped this guitar a couple of times always expecting the worse, but the gods were in my favore no damage except for a couple scratches. I'd have to say this is a very durable guitar but I don't really want to find out any more.

I liked this Alvarez so much that next month I'm planning on getting an Alvarez PD100s. I've been playing for about 20 years (didn't say I was good though) and I've owned a lot of different guitars but this one is my favorite. I have a yamaha-fg720s-12 for a twelve string this is also a beautiful sounding guitar. Nice price for a nice instrument it has a spruce top with I believe rosewood sides and back but I could be wrong. Most of my guitars are midline guitars but I am happy with all of them, I though about paying a little more and getting a Martin but I like the sound of my alvarez better.

Made in Japan. Serial Number 0000679. Artist Series, little blue tag says Adjusted at SLM Guitar Shop by R. Lopez, 11-82. Laminate top, vintage tobacco sunburst finish, mahagony back and sides. Nicely shaped, thin neck, low action, rosewood with cloud and bird inlay on twelfth fret. Dreadnaught style without cutaway or electronics. Abalone A's on headstock.

Sound : 10
It has a distinct sound that I've come to understand is unique to Alvarez. It has a rich sound with full bass and bright top notes. It sounds good strumming and fingerpicking. I bought the guitar from an older gentleman trying to sell me a 1960 martin 00-18 and I bought his Alvarez instead that wasn't really even for sale.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I have no idea how it came from the factory. But I can only assume it was perfect because it's over 20 years old and still has a nice and easy, low action with no buzzing. The binding and bridge pins are becoming an aged ivory color. The tuners are in excellent condition, the guitar is seldom out of tune. There's a large crack right along the neck and the original owner said that happened nearly as soon as he got it but it had no effect on the sound. It what would otherwise be a perfect guitar some character.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I think this guitar will be around in a similar condition in another 20 years. It's solid. Can't say anything about gigging since I just play at home but I wouldn't hesitate to appear anywhere with this guitar, it's just fantastic.

Have no idea. Bought it "as is" without any intention of ever contacting Alvarez.

Haven't been playing very long but I have shopped and played very, very expensive guitars. I now own several Alvarez guitars and a Yairi. If it were lost or stolen, I'd cry, then I'd contact my insurance carrier since I've never seen another one for sale. If I ever find another, I'll buy it for sure. If anyone reading this has one for sale, don't hesitate to email me.
