I've noticed in all the Alvarez Guitar reviews no one did a 5054
12 string one, so here is one.Mine is a 1987 model that i purchased
about 2 year's ago from a freind who bought it brand new in 1987.
It has a solid spruce top and laminated rosewood back and sides. It
has rosewood fingerboard and bridge'chrome die cast tuners and
herringbone pattern around the soundhole. The beauty of this guitar
is that it was made in Japan and the workmanship after 14 years is really holding up.

Sound : 9
My music style is Folk, blues, and i play with church groups,I like
music such as what the Eagles play and Simon and Garfunkle and this
12 string fits the bill.As typical of most 12 strings it is bright
but the bass is also there when needed.I had a Fishman active pick-up
installed and when plugged in soundsreally super. It is a powerful
souding instrument.I paid $250.00 dollars ,and consider that a great
buy.I really like this instrument a lot.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The guitar was 12 years old when i bought it.The setup my freind had
did't need any changing by me.I did have some work done on it.A
luthier friend of mine built and installed a bone saddle and dressed up all the frets for me .The finish on the guitar is still in
excellent condition and i'm sure i will get many more years out of
this guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 9
The ALvarez guitars are made well that came out of Japan in the 1980's
and i do play this guitar daily.I take good care of this guitar
and see no reason why it won't last a long time I use Martin 80/20
STUDIO PERFORMANCE STRINGS LIGHT GAUGE TUNED DOWN AND LEAVE A CAPO
ON THE FIRST FRET TO TAKE A LITTLE TENSION OFF THE NECK.

Customer Support : 8
I've called St.Louis Music a few times on occasion to order parts and
information and found them pretty decent to deal with.Any repairs
i take it to afriend of mine who is a luthier.I have no idea as a second owner if there is any warranty left on it' i doubt it.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing for over 30 years.I also own a ALVAREZ DY-38
which i submitted a review on, and i also own a ALVAREZ 5021 12-
STRING that is a 1990 model. If this guitar was lost or stolen i would
love another one, that might be tough Alvarez stopped making this
model in either 1994 or 1995.Iwould like to see other opinions
by anyone else who owns and plays this model.
