Features : 9
label in soundhole is stamped 2-78/made in japan, has solid spruce top
maple back and sides,(blondie), tortoise shell binding on body, neck & headstock, abalone logo & soundhole rosette.Has snowflakes on fret board, "fox hollow" in abalone on the 12th fret.laquer finish, standard closed tuners,(not sure what brand)hard alvarez case included.

Sound : 10
I whatever comes to mind; beatles, james taylor, stones, etc. some jazz, blues. One of the things that attracted me to this guitar was It's brighter sound is due to the maple back/sides.chords ring out,
doesnt sound like a Martin or Gibson,which i like.More of a Taylor
sound. Can't think of anything I dislike about the sound.
The guy I bought it from said he paid almost $1000.00, which was a
lot in 1979.I was told it was a high end model, handmade at the time.

budget guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Since I didn't purchase it new, I don't know about the set up- all I
know is the strings are low,no buzzing anywhere, the frets show minimal wear, and It plays very easily.Every time someone sees it, they comment on how great it looks.(it has a few nicks here and there)After 25 years, I would say the craftmanship is excellent-can't see any poor glue joints,or blistering finish that you see on
cheaper guitars by now.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I never used this live, only home playing.I'm sure it would not take a beating, like any gutar. The chrome tuning keys are not tarnished, stays in tune, none of the abalone or tortoise shell is peeling.I would say it's built for the long haul after 20+ years.Since it does not have a pick up,does not go to the clubs.

Customer Support : 9
Didn't buy it new, however, I did contact Alvarez regarding any info
that might be available, since the giutar was about 12 years old when I got it.The person I talked to was nice, took my info, mailed out a
spec sheet, also she said the brochure was out of print,as the guitar was out of production.

Overall Rating : 9
I have ben playing about 12 years on/off.I will go 4-5 months without
playing anything, then get the urge to play every day for a while. The guy I got it from did not pressure me at all, in fact he tried to sell me on a Guild w/mahogany back/sides,which I thought the sound was a bit muddy for my taste, which is why I got this one.I have a Takamine A/E if I need to play live.I have an american strat,PRS,
RIC,Les Paul.I have been asked to trade for several other brands of guitars, but have declined. It is hard to find an all maple dreadnought anymore, that has this bright crisp tone.If it were lost or stolen,I would be pissed, no doubt. The only feature I wish it had was a bridge p/u.I don't want to add something that might change th sound.Overall, I have been very pleased with this guitar,if you see one, grab it.
