Features : 8
000 size guitar with rosewood back and sides, spruce top. Clear finish. Unknown brand of gold finished tuners. Maple neck with truss rod and a fancy carved heel. Made in Viet Nam sometime in 2007. No electronics. Very fancy inlay all over. Neck and body are double bound. Fancy veneer on headstock Very fancy vine inlay on fingerboard. Came with a passable hard shell case. I spent an extra $20 on shipping and it was extrememly well packed.

Sound : 7
I bought this for the looks, not the sound. So I was surprised that it did have a half way decent sound. Unfortunately, in order to carry all of the inly, the body and deck are cut very thick and heavily braced. So the guitar's sound had suffered some from that. But, all in all, it's OK. One plus is that it intones perfectly, which was another pleasant surprise. The high e string sounds a little shrill to my ear and the mids are pretty strongly compressed.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The action was perfect from the factory. Neither the back nor the front were bookmatched. Although the rosewood back is pretty, it does show two small signs of filler where there must have been scratches in the wood. The bridge and nut are bone and look pretty good. There is a little bit of blemish in the finish just in front of the bridge, but it's disguised by the strings. The rest of the finish is acceptable. The frets are acceptable but the ends were left high and sharp and need to be dressed down. The machines work fine and the guitar stays in tune. The interior work is sloppy with a lot of glue tossed around. The inlay, which is the reason I bought the guitar, is great. A real show stopper. Now I have to say that this was a very inexpensive guitar, so I must judge the quality against the price.

I've been playing for 37 years. I own over 30 guitars with Gibsons, Fenders, Taylors, Blueridges, Normans, etc in my stable. So I've got some reference points. I bought this guitar as a wall hanger. The inlays on the neck and back are just terrific to look at. So it was a pleasant surprise to get a guitar that I can enjoy playing as well as looking at. If you buy one of these and you don't like the sound or playability, well, you were just stupid in the first place. This guitar is like a great looking blond babe who needs to keep her mouth closed.
