Early 90's (no idea when it was manufactured) standard stratocaster, made in Korea... Comes with a modified Floyd Rose, which I've found much easier and much more desirable than the bottom locking FR's.

Sound : 10
I use it for all sorts of different genres, house, breaks, synthpop and funk, and it sounds absolutely amazing through amplitube. I prefer it over my squier strat and mexican made strats that I've heard.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I bought it used and had the action reset by my work. With it reset, I've found it to be remarkable. Plays very nicely and easily. No flaws whatsoever. Pickups were perfect.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This thing is pretty solid. I'm a studio musician so I take care of my instruments and I believe this one will last a long, long time.

This is a Applause-made (I guess the trademark is owned by Ovation since I have seen "Applause by Ovation" logos in Musicians Friend catalog many times)replica of a stratocaster. Typical strat features (3 single coils, 5-position switch, one vol, two tone knobs, passive electronics) BUT in addition has floyd rose type of floating "un-detuneable" bridge with fine tuning adjustments and locking nut.
Very narrow 22-fret maple neck with satin maple fretboard. I do not know which wood the body is made of but the guitar is very heavy and feels extremely solid. I give 10 here because of the floyd rose type bridge and locking nut that is not found on regular stratocasters.

Sound : 9
The guitar has very original strat sound, the pickups are powerful and as noise-free as single-coils can be. The 5-position switch and two tone controls provide a wide range of sounds applicable in lead and rhythm as well. I plug this guitar into 100W Tubeworks combo directly without any effects and the quality of sound is amazing. Since this is a guitar with single-coil pickups you cannot get humbucker sounds from it but since my style is SRV, Hendrix and Clapton I do not really miss that.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I bought this guitar used so probably someone had already adjusted it. Its neck is absolutely great, 100% straight and very narrow (narrower than my $500 (back in 1982) Peavey Horizon II's that already has a very narrow neck), action is super low without any buzzing, strings are routed exactly on top of the pickup poles, and the finish looks professional. This category is absolutely perfect!

Reliability/Durability : 9
I bought this guitar a few months back and use it as a backup guitar in gigs. Solid structure and the bridge that you CANNOT detune make this guitar very reliable. However, everyone should have a backup guitar at gigs because of possible string snaps. This is my backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have never had a need to talk to them.

This is a great guitar with plenty of features at a low price (I guess I paid less than $200 for it used). I have been playing guitar for over 20 years and can pretty well tell if the guitar is good or not. If stolen, yes, would buy it again but it is very hard to find these nowadays because the model is discontinued. And, who else is making stratocates with a floyd rose bridge?? If someone does what is the price you would pay for it?
