Made in Canada, I think, don't know what year, doesn't say.
21 frets or maybe I can't count, and it's just a laminated top
Active pick up with a Volume and 3 band equaliser slider control
Body, sides and top is made from wild cherry and merisier.
Cutaway and electric also.

Great sounding guitar nice rich sound, that sounds very similar to a solid top guitar, there is a difference though.
very rich and bright sounding guitar and also sounds great when plugged into a the p a. Suit's my style of playing which is everything from jazz to rock

Action setup was very high, the feel was kinda dissapointing, sanded down the saddle and tightened the truss rod slightly. now it's all good and the action is nice and low.

everything is solid on this gat, but only cam with one strap button, had to put the other one on myself. very reliable, used it live on stage at church which seats over 1,000 people, and which has a big pa setup, was great no problems what so ever, the only thing I didn't like is that the battery on the pick is inside of the gat, and to get to it would mean that I'd have to take off all the strings just to get to it. So in that case yeah I would use a back up.

I've been playing for two years now, had played a cheap ashton acoustic which I would never buy again.
This gat was way cheaper than the Ashton.
I really like the sound of this guitar as it sounds close to a solid top, I bought it so I could take it out places and play without having to worry about it much, I got more out of it than expected.
Would definitely buy another one, if it were lost or something.
For the price of this gat, there is no comparison in this price range, even sounds better than some guitar more expensive than this one.

At 52 I've been on and off the guitar for 38 years. My first was a 1960s Harmony Archtop made in the U.S.A. I also had a Raven 12 string Gibson Knockoff. I Presently own a Digital Casio Guitar and wanted to get back to acoustic.
I love the touch and terrific finish.
It has no hateful attributes!
I would buy another one if lost or stolen.
If this is a first guitar forget the rest, this is the best.

I have a 1998 model. It was handmade in Quebec Canada, it has a Laminated spruce top and back and a wild cherry neck. Mine is a black basic dreadnought. The tuners have chrome imitation Grovers on it. The neck on it has a real good feel to my hands and I have small hands. it feels like shallow C. The frets look like they need dressed on the side of the guitar, because they feel rough when you run your hand over them. No strap pin was given for the upper part of the guitar, it was no major fuss though, I just leave the strap tied onto it when I put it away. The binding around the body has a real nice look to it, the rosette around the soundhole looks sort of cheap though, it has artistic drawing around it half of it is covered by the pickguard. The artwork on top of the headstock is nice and uniquely done. The tree on headstock prompt me to buy it the most. I thought that looked so neat and awsome and it was so different from the other guitars around it, that and its black satin finish look.
I feel in love with that guitar the minute I saw it I think.

I play mainly rock, I do some fingerstyle and some folk. It does a great job playing all three styles. I'm very comfortable and happy playing all three styles with this guitar. Right now I have gibson masterbuilt premiums 13 gauge strings on it, gives it a warmer and richer tone to it. I had martin martiques on it and it gave much brighter sound, which I favor most. Its not a loud guitar , but does give out a full sound, it does NOT sound cheap. My last guitar before this was a built like a toy guitar compared to this.

The action was set up high, but thats common on all acoustics.
There were no major flaws. The frets could need some dressing up though.

I don't play live, but I think if I had a chance to I would be comfortable playing live with it.
The tuners might need to be changed later on, they're cheap.
A strap pin could be another nice add on if you don't want to leave your strap tied on to your guitar all the time.
I have cramped space in my apartment so the durability is pretty good, have gotten some scratches and some dents in it though from the past, no major problems so far. I wouldn't recommend storing it all time in a cardboard case like the one they give to you at the store. I had to buy me a sturdy case almost immediately for it to keep it from getting banged and scratch alot. I wouldn't say it real easy to dent it can take a hit pretty good ,but its not going to completely destroy it.

I've been playing for 5 years, My other guitar is a epiphone Les paul, I play it just much as I do my Art and Luthrie. I did not know A and L was by Godin guitars until a few weeks ago, and then again I didn't know it was an entry level guitar either. If was a snake it would of bit me too. It really is a great sounding guitar for the price and the quality. I really love the sound and looks of this guitar. It could have some more features to it if it wanted to look more expensive and unique looking, just a couple add ons (mother of pearl) for example. I don't like the rosette, but after you've had for a few years it just grows on you and then you forget about it.
If it was stolen or if I had to sell it. I would probably not get another one. I would want a more of a upgrade guitar. Its a great guitar but its not the guitar of my dreams.

This is a really basic guitar.
It's a steel string acoustic that is just a stock standard Dreadnought. They are hand-made in Canada and mine is the cherry top and bottom. I understand that the top is laminated wild cherry and the neck is rosewood. Tuning gear is generic chrome and the binding is ivory coloured.
The one I bought is fitted with a passive pickup situated under the saddle with bass, midrange, treble and volume controls. he battery is located inside the soundhole (a real problem if you need to change it without removing the strings)

I normally play a Maton em325C in church and bought this to knock around with outdoors and for messing around when I don't want my main guitar to be damaged.
In comparison to the Maton unplugged it is very bright with a subdued but present bass. Basically, it sounds as a guitar should and considering the laminated top it will hold its own with the solid tops costing far more.
I plugged it into my Yorkville AM100 amp and was shocked by the performance of this guitar!
Members of the group I normally play with (Who play Martins) agreed with me that the bright subdued sound was full of character and beautifully handled with the church based songs we play.
Whilst it is not in the ballpark compared to my Maton at the price this is a serious instrument for those of us who are not name and image driven or who are on a tight budget.
I did dislike the sound with medium to heavy guage strings, but a set of Elixer custonm lights (11 to 52mm) bought the instrument to life.

The standard setup of this guitar is a disgrace, and I reckon does more to dissuade buyers than anything else.
I tried a number of new models from different shops (after buying mine) and they all played like dogs. (This suggests shops rely on the factory setup)
The action is far too high and as this is an instrument that would interest beginners who may not realise the action can adjusted, I reckon theres a lot of these guitars out there that are discougaging players as they are hard to fret or form barre chords ( and playing is supposed to be fun)
However that gripe out of the way after making a neck adjustment and lowering the bridge (so the 6th E string at 12th fret is 2.5mm off the fret) gave me an instrument that is as slick as an electric with no fret buzz. It gives my Maton (that cost 3X as much) a real run for its money)
The overall finish is very professional, but on mine the fretboard was as dried out and staring to develop fine cracks. ( I soaked it with lemon oil and it fully restored the look and the feel)
Tuners are rock solid and the pick-up and controls are sturdy (However the battery placement is a dog)
Everthing else (bridge, pegs etc are well made and should last
If the setup from the factory was better I would have given this guitar a 8

I saw this guitar in the second hand section shop and only picked it up to try out a pick!!!
I fell in love with the sound and bought it (My wife did her nut)
I play it in rehersals and I reckon it will stand up to punishment reasonably well
I particuarly like the stap buttons that seem to be very sturdy and well placed for balance.

Would I buy another
Honestly can't say would depend on the price
Love the sound looks and finish and reckon it holds it's own against it's pricer big brother the Seagulls.
Check it out if you are short on $$$ but want an instrument you can play with pricer guitars
A&L are a common guitar in Australia, and sell by the truckload

this guitar looks great sounds great and feels really great, it's made solidly and well. the only thing i would change about my model is i would make a bigger curve in the body, because if you're sitting down in a chair it tends to slip out of your lap. which becomes extremely annoying, so i usually sit against something else. Deffinatly look at this guitar, great value for money.

Made in Canada, probably in 1996/1997.
I believe it has a laminated top made of cherry, with a neck made of rosewood. No electronics.
Same % of woods that everybody else said. Satin finish (non-glossy), dark brown color with white rosette. Very unusual color, which is why I liked it. Also, I hate the high-gloss plastic finishes. Simpler is better.
Dreadnought body, non-locking chrome tuners (not sure which brand).
Got it with a softshell case thrown in for free.

I'm mostly a strummer with some fingerpicking. It's suitable for that purpose. It has a very warm tone, but over time it became quite dull. When I changed the strings, the tone brightened again.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

Action was way too high, and the strings were way too heavy. This was my first guitar that I owned, so I thought all guitars were this way. Boy was I wrong. My recommendation is to get it properly set up and change the strings to a lighter gauge.
Otherwise, this is a high quality guitar especially for this price. Those Canadians really know their stuff. Stays in tune fairly well.

Mostly a home player, but this guitar has survived quite a beating. I often knock it against things or play while I'm eating lunch. The top seems very easy to dent. There is no pickguard, so I have lots of scratches. On the lower side, there is notable chipping of the wood. But this does not affect playing, and I think this adds character to the guitar. The finish is very thin, but this allows the guitar to breathe easier.
Strap button is solid, but my main gripe is that there is only one. Very dependable.

I have been playing since 1996 (high school), and this was my first guitar. I also own a Squier Strat with humbuckers (soon to be sold!), and I'm looking to purchase a Seagull or Martin next. I was a total novice when I bought this, but my friend who was a lot more knowledgeable said this sounded good in the store. The great price convinced me. It hasn't let me down. If it were stolen or lost, I probably would not buy it again, but I would buy a higher-end instrument from the Lasido family of guitars (e.g. Seagull).
I hate the action. Love everything else. My favorite feature is definitely the unusual brown color, which makes it stand out.
For a beginner, I would definitely recommend this guitar above anything else in that price range.

I think it was made in '99 or so. I picked it up in a Pawn Shop in 2000. The guitar has 20 frets, the body joining the neck at the 12th. The body is small, probably a little too small, I would enjoy more volume but the tone is great! I enjoy the "grand style" deep cutouts in the body, very comforatble to play. The top is laminated, but as I said, the tone is great considering. Wood is Cherry, Maple, Walnut, Spruce, same %'s mentioned by everyone. The Fretboard is wide enough for my fat fingers, and carries it's width to the head. The neck is FANTASTIC. It is nice and thin and very comfortable. Action is a little far, I think I just need to have my truss rod adjusted though. Tuners are blond and match the trim and finishing details, body is smoking cherry sunburst.

I'm from Brazil (South America). Please, forgive my bad English ok ?I bought this in 2001. I believe it's a 1999 model. Was made in St-Laurent, Quebec / Canada. 22 frets. That's an acoustic model, no electric controls.
Wild cherry / Merisier 50%
Maple 33%
Walnut 13%
Spruce 4%, and it came with a original hard case.
It came with a shadow pick up , wich I still don't know how model is.
The serial number is: 97254499

Here I have to play with a classical (nylon strings) and with this, we call "folk model" (still strings). I play fusion stile, and this model sounds great to me, although i haven't found yet the sound when I use with my amp, a Fender Twin Reverb Silver Face.
Without amps, It has a very full sound, with good low notes. I like very much.

This guitar is probably a model 2000 (bought in 2001). Transparent sort of sunburst blue, very nice. Standard dreadnought model, and I mean standard. It's as basic as can be. No beautiful inlays or rosette. But everything that IS there seems to be of high quality.

I like to play blues and some "homebrew" mixed styles. It seems fitted for most styles but seems to like blues very much because of the warm, deep kind of raw sound.
The only complaint is that the G-string seems to lack some sustain, all other strings sound great. Don't know the cause of this yet.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The setup was awful from the factory. The action was HUGE and the neck was bent really bad. sorted this out by adjusting the neck, now it plays better than some of my electric guitars!
The finish is just beautiful. I couldn't believe the difference in finish with other brands in this priceclass. You really don't expect this kind of workmanship on this cheap a guitar. The internal bracing is excellent, no glue anywhere, as is the fretting and the binding.
I especially like the fretting and am looking into buying a godin electric, as the neck is almost the same (same factory).
Really bad standard strings. I fitted some Martin light strings and they are perfect on this guitar.
Just for the bad action from the factory I'll give it an 8, otherwise it would be a 10.

I'm not really someone that treats it's guitars with velvet gloves. I try to, but I bang them into doors and walls pretty often. This guitar hasn't even dented!!! Today I smacked it into a door handle and I couldn't even find a nick!!! Strangely the VERY thin finish is also VERY scratch resistant.
I wouldn't worry about reliability, it's built like a rock (laminated top remember) and will withstand very much abuse.

Owned (and played) this for 7 months, no problems.
Playing for less than a year. But a few hours a day, so I'm getting better. I also have a Cort s2600 and a Epiphone Les Paul. Laney hc50 amp.
If it was stolen I would try to find an Art&Lutherie solid top. That's my problem : I want a solid top, but I don't want to trade in this guitar because I love it. Why do I want a solid top then....hmmmm guess I dont! I'm keeping this forever.
For this money : Nothing better, really!
