This was my 1st ever guitar - bought from Woolworths in Scunthorpe in the UK circa 1974 when I was about 13. I bought it because David Bowie played a 12 string at the time and I just wanted to pose. Surprisingly I actually learned to play it and indeed gigged a few times at college events. I owned it for about 5 years and eventually sold it to upgrade. I know it was a cheapo but the memory of it has sentimental value for me so if anyone knows where I can get one I?d be grateful. If I remember it had a flower emblem on the pick guard.

I was driving through my neighborhood and saw it in a yard sale. I paid ten bucks for it. I have no idea what year it is. Inside the hole, the label says Audition Guitar by Woolworth/Woolco and Made in Japan. 19 frets. Dreadnought style. It doesn't play very good, I even put 12 new strings on it. It's kinda cheapy--but very beautiful. Hard to get it in tune, plus the neck is warped--you can almost put a finger between the neck and strings. It is hangin on my wall for show only. Not a player.

Sound : 3
Almost impossible to get in tune. Sounded very tinny and cheapy.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
The guitar is well made, for a cheapy. reminds me of an old Silvertone by Sears I have. Action is horrible. Not very playable.

Reliability/Durability : 3
I am "depending" on it to go up in value as a rare find!

I shopped at Woolworth when I was a kid...I don't even think they exist anymore.

Overall Rating : 4
I have played for 20 years. I will buy any guitar I see at a yard sale. regardless of condition, if the price is right. You never know what you will get. I have about 5 cheapy acoustics I have found at yard sales. This 12 string seems to be the pick of that litter. I also have "real" guitars. I have a 1979 Fender Stratocaster, a 2000 Rickenbacker 360, a 1980's Ovation Glen Campbell 1127 Acoustic, an Alverez Acoustic, a Fender DG10 12 String Acoustic, a Hamer Slammer series electric, an Ibanez EX series electric, and a 70's Univox "mosrite" style Bass. I run them all through a Marshall Valvestate 80V and various Boss effect pedals. I give this rare 12-string an overall rating of 4--because it doesn't play well. Now, the condition is excellent--it is in great shape. I am hoping it wil become a sought after collector's item oneday.
