I have been playing for 50 or so years, and although not professionally, feel well placed to offer feedback. I am now sorry that I did not have a polished finish, but this is quite acceptable. This guitar was built specifically for me. so it would not be possible to replace it should anything happen. I am happy with all aspects of this instrument, and hope to hand it down to my grandchildren.

Avandel is the brand name of a custom builder in Wales, UK. I heard about the brand through Acoustic Guitar Review online magazine.
The prices were good so I contacted the builder, Russell Rose, in 2005. The communication was good at first. I picked out my woods and paid the down payment. I was given a wait time of 3 to 6 months. This time passed and communication waned. I was sent a picture of "my" guitar and noticed that it was not the style I had ordered. I inquired about it and was given an excuse and an apology. Then the communication ended. In the mean time I had a friend inquire about a new order and yep, it was no problem. But still no word on my guitar. After almost 2 years I finally got an excuse that the builder had hurt his hand and I'd have my guitar in a week, then a month, then no communication again. Finally, upon contacting the builder's wife, I was told I could get my down payment back and still buy the guitar when it was finished in June of 2007. I did get my money back, with no interest of course, and have not heard a word from them since. I doubt I ever will. Avandel still does advertise in the acoustic magazine. I wouldn't buy a thing from them either. Beware...be very aware!
