My BR-60 is now going on 24 years old, it appears to have a solid Spruce top, nicely tiger striped and matched,Rosewood sides and back, also nicely matched, black pick guard, finish is nice and after 24 years doesn't seem to have degraded. Like others the frets on mine were a bit high compared to my old Hummingbird but it still plays nicely, nice tone, plenty of volume.

Sound : 9
I play folk and bluegress, this guitar has a nice tone, mellow, not tinny, more like a Gibson, less like a Fender.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Like I mentioned before the fit and finish is real nice, the top and back are nicely matched with a nice grade or tiger striped spruce, the back and sides are also nicely matched. The inlay is simple but nice. The Guitar came out of the case ready to play, I had a little fret work done but thats just a personal choice and wouldn't be considered to be necessary, I've put it up while tarveling and come back a year later and its still in tune and after 24 years it's still in perfect condition, except for normal ware its as good as new and has mellowed with time.

Reliability/Durability : 9
What can I say that I haven't already, I've had my BR-60 for 24 years, it's been passed around at a thousand parties and played be a thousand different people and still plays and holds its tune, wouldn't be surprised if it's lasts to be played by my grandchildren.

Customer Support : 9
In 24 years I've never needed to speak to them, where are they??

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for 35 years and have owned many Guitars, I've owned Epiphones that fell apart, the neck split off, Ovations, the body fell off, Yamaha's and Gibsons, the only ones that have stood the test of time is my BR-60 and my Hummingbird, the BR-60 was a gift from my wife so it'll never be sold, but doubt I would even if I could

Very nice features. mop inlay is beautiful. guitar resembles a d-35 martin a lot. finish is very nice. solid spruce top, choice rosewood back and sides. back and sides are not brazilian as some have said.

Sound : 10
for the money, you couldn't rate this guitar anything less than a 10. rich, loud and deep balanced sound. i have owned several br guitars. br 40,br 60 and a br 140. the br 140 is all solid woods but i believe the 60 has a overall better sound for me. i play bluegrass/gospel music and this guitar does the job well. i have also owned several martins, and no it doesn't sound as good as a d-28, but it sounds very good.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action on this guitar is fine. i had to have fret work done on both my 40 & 140. i have played several blueridge guitars in stores that have a fret buzz, so if you buy one you may have to have the frets leveled, but thats not a big deal. also depends on how hard you play. bluegrass pickers hit 'em pretty hard. beautiful finish and inlays.

Reliability/Durability : 9
apears to be solidly built. i don't expect to have any major problems. i hope not anyway.

Customer Support : No Opinion
i have my local martin rep do all my work anyway.

Overall Rating : 9
been playing for 32 years. i would replace this guitar if damaged or stolen. there is a lot to consider on a guitar. although important, sound is not the only thing. playability is also important. this guitar plays and sounds very good. at less than $400, it sounds as good as many $1000 guitars without question. even better than some.

Chinese guitar made by Saga Instruments in California. Solid spruce top dread made with Brazilian rosewood back and sides. Bone nut and saddle. Beautiful guitar.

Sound : 10
Sounds great right out of the box. Changed strings to Martin 80/20 sp lights and now everybody that plays it thinks its a Martin. Wonderful lows and highs.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Perfect!!! wouldn't change anything. No fret buzz.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Haven't had any problems...stays in tune. Never goes out of tune actually. Play with it every Sunday at church.

Customer Support : 9
Haven't had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing 2 years. Not an expert by any means, but all my friends that own Martins and Taylors love this guitar.....They play it and go "wow"!!!! A Martin D-28 sounds better, but not 5 times better, which is what you would pay more for a Martin than this....

Materials are already listed on the other reviews.
The guitar was made in China. Nowadays Made in China has a different meaning than it did years ago. The quality of the instrument is as good as anything I've seen made in the USA. With the excetions of the ultra high end stuff of course.
I was very pleased with the MOP inlay and logo on the headstock. Very meticulous with no epoxy fills. I would expect this type of quality on a much higher priced instrument.
The finish is on par with any higher priced guitar. I couldn't find any imperfections, but to be honest I didn't look very hard. No reason to. I bought the guitar to play, not a collector item. It is a very tight guitar with a booming sound more like a Jumbo than a Dreadnought.

Sound : 10
The guitar has more volume than any acoustic I've ever played. The tone is on par with guitars costing into the thousands. A blindfold test would get guesses of Martin, Gibson, and other high end guitars. Yeah, tone is full, very full.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The finish on the guitar I received is perfect, with the back being bookmatched wood grain that is totally outstanding. I saw the guitar in photos before I received and it is even more awesome than the photos!
The neck is very narrow for an acoustic, which I like very much. It's almost as narrow as my Les Paul. This was a very cool bonus.
The interior has zero flaws, no obious glue spots etc...
The action is a little bit higher than I like. A small trade off for the outstanding quality of everything else on the guitar. I've already gotten used to the higher action and it's just fine now.

Reliability/Durability : 10
One thing that is in my opinion unusual about this guitar is the weight. It weighs practically nothing and I was a little worried at first about the durability of it. I haven't played it anywhere but home so far, but it's been put through the paces and I have no doubts about it holding up. I guess it would smash pretty easily as some idiots like to destroy guitars on stage, but in my opinion only morons to that anyway. This wouldn't be a satisfying guitar for them. The case it came with is like a tank, so no worries about is getting damaged in transport.
The tuners are Kluson knock offs and very simple. The only way they could get damaged would be if the entire guitar was ruined. Over all very solid and durable.
It came with strap buttons on the butt and above the neck on the body. These buttons are very meaty, better than most that come on high end electrics. Very happy with them.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No reason to use CS yet, but if I ever have a problem my firt contact would be with Glen at Ninevah. As a guitar shop owner he will go to bat for his customers and make sure any problems are resolved ASAP.

Overall Rating : 10
I've played guitars off and on for 30 years. I've owned high end electrics as well as medium to low end acoustics. This is without question the best quality acoustic I've ever owned. I would replace it immediately if it were stolen or ruined.
I like the lightweight and booming sound. For years I longed for a Gibson Jumbo, but now do not have the desire for one. Nothing wrong with Gibsons, but this guitar is great and I have no need for another acoustic.
I do wish it had electronics, but acoustics really amplify better when mic'd anyway.
I would recommend this Blueridge to anyone looking for a great tone and a solid acoustic. At the price point these are at they are affordable for those just starting out. Great gifts also.

I purchased my Blueridge BR-60 in Prince Edward Island, Canada from the Blueridge Canada guitar rep. He was attending a bluegrass festival that weekend (July 2004) The guitar is made in China. It has a solid spruce top, laminated rosewood back & sides, mahogany neck (dreadnaught model) gloss finish, vintage style butterbean tuners. Had a black pickguard which I changed for a dalmatian style one. I hate black pickguards although they don't change the sound of the guitar. Finish was applied to neck after installation and not before like Martin but what the heck, for $400. what do you expect.

Sound : 10
I give it a 10 for sound. Lots of bass and treble. Tried almost every model of Blueridge on hand and this one gave me the best bang for my buck. I've compared it to D-28 Martins and I swear that it sounds just as good if not even better. The saddle is not compensated yet it stays in perfect tune. A real boomer. It suits me perfectly for my style of music which is Bluegrass.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The set up was perfect right out of the box. No adjustments were made to it in any way. All I did was replace the strings with a set of medium gauge Elixirs. I've had a lot of people in the know look at it and so far no faults have been found.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I think this guitar will stand up. I am now leaving my Martin HD-28 home and taking the Blueridge to festivals. It is awesome to see people listen in awe to the sound coming out of this so called cheap chinese guitar. Already have had more than a dozen people offer to buy it from me.

Customer Support : No Opinion
N/A At the price I paid for this guitar I'll take it to my local luthier for repairs should anything ever come up. I don't expect the dealer to repair it and I'm not worried about the warranty.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 50 years and for the money have never owned a guitar that sounded so good. If i lost it would buy another tomorrow but I doubt it would sound as good as this one. Definitely a keeper.

I'm not one for a whole bunch of features, so I'm not really sure what to say here...

Sound : 9
I love the sound of this guitar. That's the main reason I bought it. I couldn't find a guitar that sounded as full, clear, and balanced as this one for under $1000. Every time I play with my friends, it makes their guitars sound really soft and thin.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The set up and action was perfect for me. I mostly play electric guitars, so I had to toughen my fingers up a bit, but after about a week with the guitar I was playing it (almost) like an electric. It has a pretty thin neck and rather large frets, so if you like those guitars, you'll like this one. I think the factory set-up was good, but I'm not sure because I had mine set-up by this guy who does all of my guitars right after I bought it.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I've only had the guitar for 2 months, but it seems to be constructed pretty well.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
For the $$$ I can't think of a better guitar. Even if I paid what I see on the internet (~$375) for it, this is the best value. Plays great, sounds great, and costs almost nothing.

plain looking, tasteful head stock inlay, very pretty looking guitar, solid feeling, very well made. see other review for info on the wood. the neck is kinda thin like a laravee guitar which is how i like it. this gutiar is made in china. i have had it recomended to me by some very talented luthiers.

Sound : 9
i love the soud of this guitar. I am as happy with this sound as i am with my $3000.00 larivee guitar (but this cost me $339.00.

it is a little mid rangey, but it doesn't bother me. it sounds really great for finger picking or strumming. it sounds better to me then any $1000.00 guitar i've played (i worked in a guitar shop and i've played many guitars...)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
the action set up is perfect for me. it's maybe a medium action set up, good for flat picking and getting a loud tone with medium gauge strings

the fit seems great to me as well.

the finish looks great

Reliability/Durability : 9
this guitar seems like it will last me for a long time. i intend to make this my gigging guitar...that way if it gets trashed or stolen, it won't break the bank, but still sounds as good as the spendy ones

Customer Support : No Opinion
i have no idea

Overall Rating : 9
i've been playing for 13 years. if this were lost, i would definatly replace it.

i love how this thing sounds and how it feels. it plays so great, it is helping get me out of a rut by inspiring me with it's great tone and feel

This is a Chinese made acoustic dreadnought outfitted pretty much like a D-28; solid spruce top (narrow grain), laminated Brazilian rosewood back and sides, 3 piece mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard and bridge. It does have a nice pearl inlay in the peghead (it looks tastier than Blueridge's fancier series inlay). Body binding is white and pretty much like a D-28. No fretboard binding. Chrome kluson type tuners with butterbean knobs. Nut and sadle are bone. Gloss finish all over. the literature claims that these guitars have a dovetail neck joint. A Chinese hardshell case is supplied. This guitar has all you need for an acoustic.

Sound : 9
Very nice sound for the money. Suprisingly loud although this particular guitar emphasizes the mid-range. Although I played several similar Blueridges, none had a particularly deep bass. But since I tend to be a lead player anyway, that works for me. If you're into 20 thousand league under the sea depth, you might consider something else. The Blueridge is a versatile performer for both flat and fingerpicking.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Nice medium set up from the factory. The nut slots are a little high, like Martin set ups. I probably will lower the slots slightly. The neck was properly adjusted. There were no noticable buzzes up and down the fretboard.
The only flaws I found was a little unevenness in the finish on the treble side (could probably be rubbed out) and the wood strip on the back didn't line up perfectly with the heel cap. The fretwork was a cut above what I have seen on some Blueridges. The inside work was exceptionally clean for an Asian guitar. Much better than Korean and close to Martin.

Reliability/Durability : 9
My experience with Blueridge guitars is that they are very solid and hold up well, like most Asian guitars. The chrome on the tuners looks a little thin, so I don't know how long they will resist corrosion. These ply finishes are pretty much bulletproof.

Customer Support : 5
Saga Musical Instruments doesn't get too worked up about supporting their products, so I'm going to give them a.........

Overall Rating : 9
These guitars compete with Korean guitars and the cheaper Martins (X, DM, DR series). I think the Chinese craftsmanship is better than the Koreans and close to the Martins. Martin's give you a better neck fret work and Blueridge gives you a gloss finish and fancier appointments. I think the sound is pretty comparable. The Blueridge offers a price advantage. Saga knows what its doing and gives you appropriate features for the money.
