Beautiful combination of spruce, rosewood, and mahogany. Mine was manufactured in '04 and I purchased it in early '05 from a local shop. The prewar x-bracing is very nice addition as are the abundant decorative touches. I'd love to see one available with a factory installed pickup.
Sound
:

I play a lot of blues and fingerpick quite a bit and have been nothing but impressed. The sound is slightly fuller than it was when I first purchased it, but is still a bit on the bright end of the spectrum for a dreadnought.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

The original setup was about as perfect as I could have possibly asked for and I haven't messed with anything. The only flaw is two of the bridge pins stick out a bit further than the other four. This hasn't affected the playability at all, and is hardly noticable unless you're really looking for it.

From the reliability aspect, there is much with this guitar I haven't experienced. It's never seen a gig, and has only seen one recording session, but I do take it down to the local coffee house a couple of times a week and it gets passed around quite a bit. Thus far there haven't been any issues. It's never had a strap on it, so I can't comment there. I would feel comfortable playing live with it, it's built solidly and I don't expect that there would be any issues at all.

I've been playing for about 8 years now and usually go through guitars rather quickly, but this one I won't get rid of. I put down a '63 Gibson Country Western for this one and would gladly do it again. My brother sold his Taylor and bought one. It's been nothing but excellent and if something happened to it today I'd buy another one tomorrow. As mentioned above, I'd love to see it available with a factory installed pickup.

I play blues and rock. i work at a local guitar shop where we sell Gibsons, Takamine, Taylor, and Martin.....this guitar holds up to, if not surpasses them. the richness of the tone is amazing and the resonance in my chest is very present. the br-70 is much better sounding than even the more expensive models in blueridges line-up. i used to play with d'addario but recently re-tried a set of martin phosphor bronze SP's.....the martin strings added at least 30% more volume to this guitar.

this guitar's action is great...i got it as low as i wanted without any buzz. beautiful appearance.....people sometimes mistake it for a martin...sound and all.

i've used this guitar for every gig over the last year (at least every weekend), and there has been no warping, no action problems, aside from the gouge my bass player gave it, there are no cracks in the finish. i have however noticed that the one of the tuners back cover is lifting from the plate. there is no way to remedy this without working the metal.

i have been playing for 16 years and have never played a guitar of this quality for this or even a higher price. i've played martins and find that this guitar has a definite "Martin" sound. i played the BR-70 next to a Gibson J-45 "side by side" and liked the blueridge much better.
i noticed that the newest BR-70's have a darker color for the top...not as nice as the bright shade of mine.

Chinese Made , 21 frets LEFT-HAND Model.
Solid Spruce top and Laminated India
Rosewood back and sides. Fretboard is East India
Rosewood over Mahogony neck.Ornate Pearl inlays.

Unbeleivable sound! I couldn't beleive it for the $$$ spent.
The setup was near perfect with just a tweak of the neck and
a restring with Elixer custom light Polyweb strings.
Lots of deep tone and sustain as well. I do feel that
the headstock is a bit too ornate though.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The bookmatched body is just beautiful with matching grain
designs equal on both left and right of body. Spruce grain
is attractive as well. The Butterbean tuners are a nice change
and work well.

I've not had it too long but since it is so hard to find "ornate"
left-hand product, this BR-70 really looks nice for gigs. The quality
is very evident in this model and the sound is awesome.

It was definitley worth the wait.

I chose this model based on Left hand availability as well as the sound this brand produces in all models! With the well known brands
slipping and cutting corners, it's good to know their are options available that offer better prices and better quality.

beautiful rich boomy martin sound. warm lows and mids, bright and lively highs. better voiced than its solid mohagany brothers (br-140 and martin). i can't find this kind of acoustic sound for 400 dollars anywhere else.

martin d-41 copy..mine came brand new in a box with a hard case included..feature wise..its just like all of them..i like the features just fine
Sound
:

mine sounds pretty terrific......brand new..it was very tight..but i have been playing it hard for a month now..and it has gotten much better...it was incredibly stiff playing the first couple of days..the action was a little high for me..it hurt my hands a lot...i kept on the factory strings...although it sounded really really good,i was discouraged some by the stiffness......so...i took the saddle out and filed the bottom down some..not a lot..but enough to make a big difference..i changed the factory strings to d'addario phos bronze lights 12's----man..its so great now..the action is nice and low and the stiffness has worn off the frets...its a jewel now...i would call it a cannon now...the high end is really strong....beats a gibson into the dirt....i would not say its better than martins....it is certainly a lot better than some martins....but a real good martin would still smoke the blueridge..but it would cost you a lot of money......although to me..the blueridge is a complete keeper...at my age , wherther it lasts 10 or 20 or 30 years is irrelevant..i live in the 'right now' and right now, this guitar is a king....i wish i could try the br-140 mahoganay model but we have no dealers whre i live..
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

aside from filing down my saddle --i didnt do any adjustments..it has a truss rod but i didnt even have to tweak mine..the nut seems ok..although a pro setup might make this guitar even better....but..you know...some guys might set it up and ruin the sound..set up is not an exact science...my action is low all the way up..especially compared to a martin action...but mine doesnt buzz..and i play hard...i do single line stuff..hard bluegrass picking...beatles..jazz...it all sounds great on the br-70.....plus..its really a very pretty guitar...high class looks...it is very lightweight too
Reliability/Durability

i have no issues in this category--my tuners seem to work fine..and it holds tune well..even under hard playing...i play mine for 2 or 3 hours straight sometimes..watching baseball on tv..and it doesnt wear out my fingers and the sound continues to delight me..its very light sounding..airy...yet distinct..and its LOUD-.i wouldnt call the bass super strong..but it sounds great to me..if i wanted a huge dark bottom end i woulda bought a good rosewood jumbo acoustic..but that isnt the sound i was looking for....even with my low action and light sting setup, this blueridge sure beats the bass on a lot of deadnaught acoustics.. even high dollar ones..its real nicely balanced...i bet it would record very well too..if you set it up for 13's , the bass might be even louder..i might try that next..although i doubt i will do that.....the thing i like best about the br-70 is..you dont have to pick a note really hard to make it sing..especially the treble notes....its got a real singy voice..i'm sure its do to the bracing and the overall thinness and light weight of the top

for this price..if i had major problems with the guitar..i would just buy another one of the same model and cross my fingers.

this is my only decent acoustic...i just bought a mahogany back and sides martin DM--it hasnt arrived yet......i think , for the price, the blueridge br-70 is a steal..even if it cost more--it would be a value......between those two guitars..i dont see why you would need any more guitars..unless you've got money to burn... before i got the blueridge, i owned an old gibson flattop..i always thought it was ok sounding..till i got the blueridge..i sold that gibson in a flash and i will never miss it..

Same descriptions as everyone else has given.
I bought mine from my local music store and it was by far the best sounding and feeling guitar in the store, regardless of price.
Sound

The sound is amazing. The one I got sounds so good, I really can't put it down. The tone is fantastic-it resonates through my chest when I play it. The tone is addictive!!!

The action on mine is just a little too low. I suspect the store I bought it from may have lowered it just a little too much. I get a couple of fret buzzes but only when played hard way up the neck. Nothing a little shim can't fix. It sounds so good I haven't even wanted to change the strings and raise the bridge up.
The finish and looks are perfect.

It should be fine on a gig, it feels light and delicate to me, I wouldn't want to bang it around. But why bang any guitar around.

I'm wanting to get another Blueridge, but I like this one too much. Could not be replaced. These guitars sing-get one!!! Best bang for the buck. Nothing I've played comes close to these. But my field is limited. You may be able to find a better sounding instrument for a lot more money, but I'm not to sure.

Blueridge BR-70 is modeled after the Martin D-41. I purchased this guitar and took it over to a friends house to show it off. This friend has owned his fair share of upper end Martins (including a D-41) and I told him to listin from another room in the house and tell me what kind of guitar it was. I played maybe a bar of a single chord and he said it had to be a Martin. The BR-70 was made in China by some very good luthiers! It's solid spruce top. Standard dreadnought body. The bracing is pre-war and the tuners are pre war butter bean style.
My Blueridge came with a case. I bought it from ebay for $400 case and guitar and shipping was excellent. I plan to buy another blueridge from the same people soon.
The guitar doesn't have a pickup but I swear it's so naturally loud it doesn't need one. Okay...well it would if you want to play out. I'm putting an iBeam in it soon. I'm glad it came without a pickup though.

My style is much like that of John Mayer. I lead worship at a lot of various places (youth events etc) and it suits anything I want to do on it. The guitar is naturally rich sounding. It's a beautiful sound and I'm sure with a decent pickup it'll sound amazing plugged in. I mic it often to record and the sound is untouchable. (But that has to do with mic stuff as well) I do a lot of percussive things with my guitars and this one can definately hold it's own. I do many harmonic sounds as well and it's a beautiful tone with this guitar. I haven't come across somethin I didn't like yet

It's setup is amazing. The only thing I would change is a little lower action. VERY LITTLE LOWER though. The bracig was flawless and the inlays are beautiful.

I was buying a guitar I could take anywhere and not worry about but after I played it for 20 seconds I changed my mind. I take very good care of my guitar. I don't play very rough (I've never broken a string) but I'm sure it could withstand a lot of live playing. The tuners gave me a little issue...my guitar was dropped (while in its case) by a friend of mine (yes it pissed me off!) and a tuner was busted. I don't think a tuner should bust while inside a case...so the tuners may be a little cheap. However, since it was something like that, Blueridge sent me a tuner to replace it (for free) and I sent them my broken one.

How long I've been playing doesn't matter. However, I have played numerous guitars (Martins, Taylors, Larrivees, Collins, Gibsons, Blueridges, Guilds, etc). I play many different styles and I've never found a guitar (other than a few martins) that suits anything I want to play. I chose this guitar because it was very cheap for it's sound and playability. This is a must get! They won't be cheap forever. They are teh sleeping giant of the acoustic world! Martins were cheap years and years ago too! Just like Gibson Les Pauls and SG's when they came out. GET A BLUERIDGE!
