rosewood back and sides, spruce top, herringbone trim, black bound ebony fingerboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle, butterbean tuners. It has the same features as an hd-28vr.It is perfect. Not too plain or not too flashy.

Sound : 10
I play bluegrass and it is perfect for it! I own a 1948 d-18,a hd-28 vr, and a 1970 d-28 and the bourgeois is way louder than any of them.It is the most evenly sounding guitar I've ever owned.I have pissed off quite a few banjo players with it!!!!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action was perfect from the factory. The finish is beautiful. There is no flaws or glue beads anywhere. Dana takes his time on every guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar will last longer than me I'm sure. I'm 26 and I'm pretty sure that when I die someone else will pick it up and use it for their lifespan too.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't dealt with them yet but I've heard that Dana is a nice person. It has a lifetime warranty.

Overall Rating : 10
This is by far my favorite guitar I've ever played. I've owned collings, santa cruz's,huss and daltons',and a lot of martins but this thing swallows them all up. It looks better sounds better and plays better. If I went to a custom shop this is the exact guitar that I would have made for me.If all of my guitars were stolen I would replace them all with bourgeois guitars!

Solid figured Sitka spruce top;Indian Rosewood sides and back; Inlayed block back strip; Ebony bridge;Bone saddle and nut;Ebony fingerboard; Herringbone trim; Gotoh tuners. Beautiful guitar. Bourgeois' version of a Martin HD-28 with a better look and feel.

Sound : 10
Rich, loud, full, bassy, ringing, and true. These are words that describe the guitar whether banging on it with a pick, flatpicking or fingerpicking. This guitar does not break up with loud strumming or hard picking. I bought it for bluegrass playing and it does not disappoint in any way!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Action was a tad high for me even for bluegrass, so I had it lowered by a professional. The finish is gorgeous and flawless, with a beautiful figured sitka spruce top that is already ambering nicely. All joints and bindings are perfect, perfect, perfect. The craftsmanship is unbelievable.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It has a lifetime guarantee that Dana Bourgeois will honor. I doubt I will ever need to invoke it, since this is a guitar that you take care of because you don't want anything to happen to it. I'm sure it is a durable instrument and will provide a lifetime of joy.

Customer Support : 10
See above. Dana Bourgeois has a great reputation for a reason. I have three of his guitars and never had to send one back yet. Hope I don't, but he'll be there if I have to. I sure hope he gets back to where he wants to be from a business sense. He had a bad situation and he is making the best of it. Good Luck Dana!

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 30 years now (wow - where did the time go). You owe it to yourself to own a guitar of this caliber when you get the chance and I took the chance and have not looked back. What a joy it brings to the music side of my life. I own a Lowden, two other Bourgeois, a Collings, a Martin D-35 and a Taylor 414ce. I won't give up the DR-A Deluxe for anything!!
