Features : 10
Body style - CM is unique to itself. A radical break from what you would expect from an acoustic guitar. Not for everybody, that's for sure. Some are put off by the radical design of the instrument. A long teardrop shaped body with sharp cutaway at the upper bout make this a visually (and tonally) unique instrument. A CM is a CM - it can be mistaken for nothing else, not unlike a Porsche.

Tuners - Gotoh 510's, Gold. Very tasteful.

Neck/Scale - Incredibly comfortable and fast C-Shape hand polished Mahogany neck with Ebony fingerboard. Scale is 25.5''

Included Accessories - Hard shell case

What Year Made - My CM Classic was made in 2005

Frets - 20

Top - Western Red Cedar, solid wood.

Back and Sides - highly figured Walnut.

Electronics - L.R. Baggs Dual Element

Binding - Bloodwood

Headstock - Bound Ebony

Inlay - "Linear Fusion"

All aspects of this instrument speak to strict attention to detail. The craftsmanship and engineering on this guitar are outstanding. No blemishes or notches in the woods anywhere. Immaculate.

Sound : 10
Musical Style - I play fingerstyle. Breedloves are made for fingerstyle players.

Sound - tonally unique, which is why I bought it. It truly sounds like no other acoustic I've played. I'd describe it as darker than most instruments, with lots of overtones. The elongated body allows for added bass response. Amazing sustain. A rich sounding guitar.

Likes and Dislikes - Tends to be a little mid-heavy, due to the Walnut back and sides, IMO. Bass presence would be enhanced by Rosewood B/Sides. Reasonably loud but could project a bit more. Doesn't break up under heavy strumming.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Set up - beyond superlative. What you would expect from a high end instrunment. Nothing is done "on the cheap" with this guitar.

Bookmatched top - Breedloves wood selections are impeccable, this is no exception.

Manufacturing Flaws - Well, literally none at all.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Withstand live playing - I wouldn't abuse this instrument if I were you. To begin with it's very expensive, secondly it's a Red Cedar top which is soft and not likely to withstand much abuse. Do you really want to see how much abuse this instrument will withstand?

Hardware - the electronics are manufactured by a top line builder and as with everything else on this guitar they are made with attention to detail and high level of quality.

Customer Support : 10
Breedlove is the nicest company I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with. I'm a customer for life.

Overall Rating : 10
How Long I've played - Over 10 years. I own two other Breedloves (OM-R Deluxe, and a custom shop instrument) and a Kronbauer. I have owned Taylors, Rain Songs, Santa Cruz and Goodalls previously.

Wished I'd asked - If they would lower the price. Honestly, the instrument sat at my dealers for nearly 2 years without so much as a sniff til I came along. Nobody was going to buy it. I could have gotten it for what they paid for it and actually I'm pretty sure I did. This instrument is simply to out there for most players. I call it "pretty girl syndrome" - where you don't think you "deserve" a guitar or a girl that looks that good or you assume someone 'better' than you deserves it. Most players would find playing this guitar in public simply too ostentatious - and I'd have to agree. You better be damn sure of yourself if you pull this out during an open mic night.

Lost or Stolen - A CM is a CM, no other instrument compares. You either replace it with another CM or you get a 'traditional' guitar. I love the CM so I'd replace it with another one, but probably not a CM Classic. Not a great big fan of Walnut back and sides. Would prefer a more bass responsive set of Rosewood, personally. I'd get a Custom CM instead of a CM Classic. Of course that would cost more...

What do I love - Hard to know where to start. Visually it's beautiful. Playing it is a dream and once it "fits" you will want to play no other instrument. It plays like no other guitar and feels like no other guitar and sounds like no other as well. It's a breed(love) apart from it's peers. I love the way she plays. Physically a perfect fit for me.

Compared to others - There is no other point of comparison. There just isn't.

Wish it had - fine as it is.

Production year - 2001, I've owned this guitar since early 2004 and it is certainly the nicest guitar that I have ever played.

All solid-wood, western red cedar top and beautiful walnut back, sides, and neck. Blood-wood binding and ebony fretboard. Strings are strung through the ebony bridge. Pearl dot fretboard markers.

I had Fishman pick-ups (I can't remember what kind) installed, but without an equalization box. The guitar came with a quality breedlove case, and both the case and the pick-ups were included in the price.

Sound : 10
I've played many guitars, but none that I liked more than my CM. It has a very dark and warm tone, and sounds very well balanced unplugged. It produces the best tone when strung with D'addario EXP's, and also with SIT guitar strings.
Harmonics are quite loud and easily achieved. I one day noticed when playing with my friend that my guitar's sound was drowned out by my friend's Larivee. We were unplugged and he plays very hard, and I don't, so it's difficult for me to say whether my CM is not a very loud guitar or not, although I've never considered it to be when playing alone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This guitar couldn't have been better made! I can not find a flaw in any of the workmanship of my guitar. The action was quite low and perfect to my preferences. I am particularly fond of the comfort from sliding my hand up and down the guitar neck.

Reliability/Durability : 10
The guitar is quite sturdy, but cedar is a soft wood and is not meant to be beaten on. I do a lot of finger-picking, but I use a guitar pick more. The guitar isn't meant to be played like a battle axe, so I would disadvise from heavy strumming.

Customer Support : 10
I've talked to Breedlove representatives over the phone about some of their other products and they were very helpful and anwsered all of my questions.
Limited lifetime warranty.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing guitar for over four years now, and I own a variety of musical instruments and gear. The CM is by far the nicest thing I own. It's a great recording guitar and good for more formal concerts. I pretty much love this guitar. If anything were to ever happen to it I would be extremely devastated. I would definitely try to replace it with the same model.

Purchased my Cm Assymetrical Classic new about a month ago on eBay. Built in 2004 It is absolutely one of the finest, if not the finest guitar I've ever owned, and I've owned some of the very best ie Martin D28 & D18, Taylor 714, 910, Larrivee OMV60, Collings C10 & OOO1, Goodall Grand Concert & several lesser guitars.

Western Red Cedar top, highly figured Walnut back and sides, bound Ebony fretboard, Abalone rosette, Linear Fusion inlays, Bloodwood binding, bone nut and saddle, gold Schaller tuners, L.R. Baggs Dual Element pickup, Deluxe hard shell case.

Sound : 10
This guitar 'sings' to me when I play her. The trebles are crystal clear and the bass is deep, but not muddy or overpowering. They higss and lows actually compliment each other, instead of competing. The action is low and the neck is smooth as butter.

I play mostly fingerstyle and a little flat picking when the mood hits me. The sharp venetian cutaway allows me to get way down to some of the Django notes that I love to play.

This guitar rocks. . .

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar was set up low. . .just the way I like it. I haven't used the L.R. Baggs pickup yet.

The fit and finish of this guitar is absolutely perfect. The high gloss finish is like glass. I generally like a satin finish, but this finish has me lovin' it.

No flaws at all. This baby is perfect.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Have only owned the CM for a couple of months now, but I would think this guitar will last. It's extremely well made. . .It's the kind of guitar that you want to look at just as much as play. And it's making me a better player every time I pick it up.

Customer Support : 10
Sent an email to them just after receiving the CM. Wanted to know when it was made and gave them the serial number. Got an answer within 24 hours. Haven't needed to use the warranty (don't think I ever will) or get any repairs. They offer a lifetime warranty to the original owner.

Overall Rating : 10
Playing off and on since the late 60's. I would cry a lot if it were lost or stolen and would DEFINATELY buy another.

Love the ease of playing and the way it makes my music sound. Love the way it looks and smells.

If you can afford a Breedlove CM, don't hesitate. . .go play one. . .you'll take it home.

1998 Breedlove - Model "CM" Made in Tumalo, Oregon U.S.A. This is an AWESOME example of what I call "Sonic Art"!!! A feast for the eyes as well as ears...wasn't sure if I should play it or display it! This guitar was hand made and signed by company owner Steve Henderson. It is a 20 fret instrument with a solid Sitka Spruce top, Striped Ebony back and sides, satin finish Mahogany neck with Ebony fingerboard and bridges. This model came with a Bloodwood binding on the body edges, fingerboard and soundhole including a stunning abalone treatment encircling it. Body style is BreedLoves award-winning asymmetrical design with long top and shallow depth in concert form. The body length is 21 5/8", width is 16 1/8", and 4 5/16" depth. Standard nut width is 1 3/4". Other tone woods, inlays, and electronics are optional. A plushlined Breedlove hardshell case was included.

Sound : 9
I've been playing on and off for over 20 years using both electrics as well as acoustics and feel this is a guitarists dream! Whether one is a fingerstylist, flatpicker or both...the tone this instrument produces is just awesome! Well balanced low to high, a voicing that balances powerful projection and resonance combined with fantastic clarity! I gave this a 9 only because I feel the bottom end could have a bit more punch but that may be taken care of by switching strings!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Five stars in this catagory as this is a hand-made guitar. Lots of eye appeal here...definetly a "Looker" !!!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I believe this guitar will last many moons...it's a custom hand-made instrument! As I said above, I didn't know whether to play it or display it! It's that Awesome!

Customer Support : 10
Early conversation when obtaining info shows extremely helpful folks! Lifetime warranty to original owner.

Overall Rating : 8
My only other instrument is a Custom Shop Strat. I would surely by this again if it were lost or stolen! Compared Martins, Taylors, etc. I wanted a Contemporary instrument with traditional craftsmanship and value - this is IT! I'm giving this an 8 overall as I feel it should have electronics included for the price, otherwise it's pure American innovation as well as Craftmanship! Take in their website, you'll be totally amazed...then make sure you play one!
