Built 2005.
Ordered from the factory through a dealer. The construction specs for this guitar have not changed except for the electronics package, LR Baggs Dual Element. Others have commented about the small tuning machines, which still remain, but are adequate for the job.

This is a gorgeous instrument with an exquisite sound. I spent the past year researching guitars and builders. I was looking for an instrument to support more fingerstyle playing. Had the chance to visit the Breedlove factory, played a number of instruments and fell in love with this make/model.

Sound : 10
I play mostly fingerstyle, preferring more solo guitar work. Also use for some vocal accompaniment. I work this instrument hard for at least 1 1/2 to 2 hours per day. I've realize the only limitation with this instrument is me. I have a different instrument for rhythm work, so have never put a pick to this instrument and no intension.

Very strong sound production as an acoustic instrument. The sound is has rich bass production while still providing nice treble range. Played through my Roland Acoustic amp the versatility increases with the LR Baggs Dual Element electronics. This provides an under-bridge pickup and an internal microphone. The dynamic range is excellent.

The most impressive part of the sound: it absolutely sings when the strings are plucked. The sustain of this instrument is phenomenal. It is one of the key features that sold me on this instrument at the factory.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Purchased through a dealer who setup the guitar before shipping to me. All I have done to it is tune and play.

The wood on this guitar is just beautiful in match, finish, and tone. Because it was shipped to me, I spent a fair amount of time inspecting the instrument on arrival. The construction and craftsmanship of this instrument is simply lovely. I have not found a single blemish, over-glue, or anything else.

A notable action issue: the bridge is arched, which allows all of the strings to be exactly the same distance from the fretboard. The overall action is low and fast with no buzzing from top to bottom.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've done a little bit of live performing. Plan to do more. It's distinct sound and looks get a few extra comments.

Haven't had it long enough to determine the durability of the finish, but seems stong. Strap buttons are solid. The bottom button is a pass-through for the 1/4" electronics output.

I believe this is my most dependable instrument. I would NEVER go on a gig without a backup, but this is my primary instrument.

Customer Support : 10
I visited the factory before purchasing this instrument. They advised me to purchase through a dealer for a better price, as they would have to sell at list. While there, I was given the opportunity to play any instrument they had in-stock (even played a couple that were getting ready for shipment to dealers). They were friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend visiting the factory, if you have the opportunity.

This particular line of guitars in the Breedlove series has a lifetime warranty. Haven't had the need to explore the warranty services.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for almost forty years. My arsenal of guitars has grown and contracted over the years. I had Yamaha, Fender, Takamine and a couple of no-name specials. I currently own a Shinano Classical, an Ovation Collector's, and this guitar.

I spent quite a while researching this purchase and don't feel that anything was unanswered. I absolutely love the size of the body, which fits very nicely in the lap. The soft cut-away makes the upper part of the fretboard accessible.

If this instrument was stolen, I would hunt the perpetrator to the ends of the earth to get it back. I would have to replace it, otherwise.

I played Martins, Taylors, Laravees, Tacoma, Santa Cruz and a couple of not-well-known custom builders in my explorations for this new instrument. None of them compared, especially at the price. Both the workmanship and sound quality were deciding factors.

Picky, but I would like a large button on the tuning machines, which I will probably do myself. Otherwise, you'll have to wrestle it from my cold, dead arms to get it!

I own the Breedlove Focus 12, so for those of you interested in their "performance" level 12-string, this review may be helpful. I own the 2004 model.

Features include solid Sitka spruce top, East Indian rosewood back and sides, black binding, and focus inlay. Electronics are Fishman ProBlend. It has Grover mini-tuners and a drednought body design. I had an option for the cutaway, but this guitar is for belting out chords, so I opted for the dred. It comes with a very nice hardshell case as well.

This is the best built, best sounding guitar that I have ever owned - period. I actually got a screaming deal on it as the shop that I ended up buying it from had it on the hanger and someone with a belt played it and put two rather deep scratches on the back! I got the guitar for $1800.00 discounted for the sosmetic flaws, and then used some love potion to buff them out, so now the back is perfect.

Sound : 9
I play ambient electronic stuff, some bluesy sounding stuff as well. I am now working with a female vocalist whose style is "ethereal", so this 12-string goes very nicely with her voice. I am recording this guitar using a 24-but hard-disk recorder by first running the Focus 12 into my Marshall A100D acoustic amp using the effects in the amp, basically its magic. Very low self-noise and feedback is not a problem, the Fishman electronics have a phase switch to help with feedback depending on the sonic environment that you are in.

The sound is very full and almost piano-like, the mids and highs are very clear but not tinny - just pleasing to the ear. This guitar also puts out some monster low end, so one has to be a little carefull with that in the mix, but that's easily EQ-ed out if it is unwanted. This is a very full-sounding guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Action, fit and finish are simply second-to-none. Even the glue joints are perfect if you look into the sound hole. Other than the scratches that the guy with the belt put into it, nary a flaw, and I speant 20 minutes or so carefully looking it over before I bought it. Kim Breedlove does not let anything that is not top notch out of her shop.

Reliability/Durability : 10
So far, I have just used the Focus 12 in the home studio, but I would not be afraid to gig with it. The finish is flawless and build quality in general is second-to-none. It has not let me down in the studio environment. The only thing that I would have liked to have is a second strap button, but they do give you instructions on how to install one, and its not necessary for me as I typically play sitting.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never dealt with their customer support, but have heard good things. They seem to be a very solid company. The warantee is a lifelong warantee, but it is not transferable, so I'd probably buy new in order to get that. I am not thinking of selling it, especially since the 2005 models are going for $4199.00!!

Overall Rating : 10
I've had the guitar for nearly a year, also own a Rob Allen MB-2 4-string fretless bass, a Lakland Skyline 44-02 deluxe bass, a Fender 25th anniversary deluxe edition Strat. If it were stolen or lost, I'd definately get another - maybe even their Master Class 12-string, but for the money the Focus 12 is a hard act to beat. I compared it to Taylors and Martins, after playing a couple of different models I fell in love with the Breedlove and it was a no-brainer.

2003 Focus: Western Red Cedar Top, East Indian Rosewood Back and Sides, Black Bound Body and Neck with Decorative Top Purfling, Ebony Fingerboard and Peghead Overlay, Breedlove Focus Inlay, hand-rubbed finish,Fishman Prefix Pro Blender System, strap button. Case included

Sound : 9
I play mostly rhythm and a little finger style. This guitar is surprisingly versatile and is excellent for both styles. The sound is full and bright, surprisingly rich bass for a cedar top. Sounds great unplugged or through Strawberry blonde amp. Feedback can be a problem when using the mic end of the pickup. A humidifier is a must.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I had a little trouble with the inital set up but once it was fixed it was great. Low action-easy to manuever. Truss rod needs adjusted when the weather changes. Pinless bridge is far superior to a regular bridge. The neck is a little bigger and the fretboard a little wider than I am used to; but now that I am used to it I prefer it over a thinner neck. Flawless craftmanship; Breedlove definately pays attention to detail.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I have only owned this guitar a year but it has been durable thus far. Constuction is solid and finish will withstand some pounding. No pick guard, so you will have a few minor cosmetic pick marks. Strap buttons are the most solid I have seen. I always use it live with no back up. Extremely dependable.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Have not dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for a little over 5 years. I have owned a Dean, Takamine, and a Martin D16GT. This guitar rates the highest out of the ones I've owned. If it was stolen I would replace it. Looked at Martins, Taylors, Larrivees and breedlove was superior to them all.

The features are already well documented so I won't repeat them. I find the combination of east indian rosewood sides and back with a western cedar top creates a wonderful sonic experience as well as being visually pleasing. The abalone rossette is beatiful! I would've preferred gold tuners to the chrome ones but that is my taste. I find the tuners that come on it to be of high quality but rather small and slightly difficult to turn. I will probably replace them with a normal size gold Grover or Schaller tuner. I think that this guitar will also be getting a thin, clear pick guard applied like the kind found on Larrivee's.

Sound : 10
I owned a Larrivee LV-05e prior to this guitar and I found that the Breedlove has a similar balanced overall sound, with perhaps just a bit more bass responce. It should lend itself very easily to live sound amplification with minimal or no eq'ing at all. Ditto for recording. The western cedar top, in particular, helps the Breedlove with having the sound of a well played in spruce top. The Fishman Blender setup certainly provides tremendous sound posibilities.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This guitar certainly exibited some of the cleanest interior work I've ever seen! No fuzzy stuff or glue spills around any of the bracing. The finish is neat and clean. I found the action just ever so slightly higher than I like but not objectionably so. The setup from the factory was excellent.

Reliability/Durability : 10
The instrument just recks of high quality materials and craftmanship. It is pro quality all the way and I believe it can be depended on to deliver. Nevertheless, I never play anywhere without a back up. It is a fine instrument that is made of thin woods and needs to be treated as such. You shouldn't think of playing this guitar where it could be abused. It isn't a 'bar' guitar.

Customer Support : 10
I've never had any dealings with the company but I've only heard positive things about them...

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing a long time (33 years). I've owned a ton of high quality acoustic guitars (Taylors, Larrivee's, Guilds, Gibsons, Martins, Ovations). What's more I play for a living, so I can't afford to own junk. The Breedlove Focus may very well be the finest guitar I'll ever own. It sounds as good or better than any guitar I've ever heard. It's appearance is in a class by itself; people notice a Breedlove! The workmanship is, as far as I can detect, flawless. It takes the best features of other acoustics I've owned, along with features unique to the Breedlove and combines them into one instrument. Were it not for the tuners, it would get a 10 in every catagory. By my own admition, I'm being pretty picky even to mention the tuners, because they are good. This is a great guitar.

This is a 2003 Focus, ceder top, rosewood back and sides. My one complaint about the entire guitar is the set of "baby Grover" tuners that come installed, tuners the size you'd find on a 6-per-side electric like a Strat. It's difficult to get leverage on them for subtle adjustments and I found them quite irksome. I wound up keeping the machines, but replacing the actual buttons with some from another guitar with a set of full-sized Grovers.

One feature I like is that the neck is slightly wider than most at the nut, making it easier for someone with large hands to play a basic D-chord without damping.

Sound : 10
I bought this mail-order, direct from the factory, and asked them to pick out one with a nice, fat low end. I'll never know whether they did, or just sent me any old guitar, but the low end is indeed great--very full and warm for a guitar of this size. Much biger sounding than most dreadnaughts. Despite the fat bass, the guitar sounds balanced and records remarkably well. In home recording with Pro Tools, an Avalon 737 and an AKG 414, I've gotten really nice sounds with remarkably little effort.

The Fishman blender, at least with this instrument, is by far the best sounding acoustic guitar amplification system I've ever heard. Musicians approach me on a regular basis asking WHAT is in my guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Slight fret buzz in certain spots on the 5th and 6th strings. I play a little harder than most. I called the company and they were very responsive, saying they'd do whatever it took to solve the problem, including cover the cost of taking it to a local tech (they're in Oregon, I'm in SF). But they first suggested trying slightly heavier strings, which I've done and which has solved the problem. If I go back to lights (it comes strung with light Elixers) I may call them again, hoping it's not too late. It's been 5 months now...

Reliability/Durability : 10
Too soon to tell, but given the quality of everything else, I'm giving it the highest rating.

Customer Support : 10
Terrific. Friendly, knowledgable, AVAILABLE.

Overall Rating : 10
Funny thing is, because I bought this guitar without seeing more than an online photo, and having NEVER played it, I had a bit of buyer's remorse when it arrived. My feeling was I liked it, but didn't love it. The size of the neck felt a little shallow to me and I was irked by the tiny tuners and the relatively "plain" look of the instrument. I had a week to decide. I could have sent it back for a refund, no problem. Within a week, I came to realize that this is an amazing guitar and I was just reacting like a cheapskate who'd spent a lot of money and figured SOMEWHERE there had to be something better. I can now firmly state I LOVE THIS GUITAR.

If it were lost, I might actually go to the factory in Oregon and play as many as different models as possible before buying a replacement.

Okay I have a custom Focus... The body is made of Myrtyle Wood and the neck is maple.Cedar Top Fishman Prefix pro blender pickup. Custom inlays.

Sound : 10
I can't explain the sound of this guitar. Everyone that hears it is in utter amazement. And if they are so lucky to be able to play it, they are now in shock at how smooth the guitar plays...But anyway as for the sound. Its bright and dark all at the same time... Perfect balance og Highs and Lows... It has such a crazy cool tone, its not even funny... I have played the Rosewood version, and its great. But i think the myrtylewood/maple combo makes this guitar even sweeter sounding. I am still amazed when i play it... Its incredible. Its not brittle and hollow sounding like taylors.. Its not too bright, and its no to bassy... It is a happy medium of tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Almost perfect here. Action is perfect right about in the middle. Not too light, not too heavy. I have set it up myself like this, so i can use the guitar for heavy stumming while still being able to get a minor third bend at the 5th fret. The action is perfect in my opinion. However when i strum ungodly hard where i am banging on the guitar the low E has a slight bit of buzz if your strumming isnt perfect. But no big deal if you dont band on the strings like a madman(I leave that now for my Breedlove Eddie custom Jumbo) But other than that strumming this guitar hard sounds great with no buzz, unless like i said before you go crazy, which we all do sometimes.

The finish is 98% perfect the back, sides and neck are great. I love the fact how you can tell the guitar was once actually a tree...I love that look.. However the cedar top does have 2 small imperfections. But it actually makes the guitar look cooler. Its no big deal its sort of a little line of cedar. But the guitar looks crazy good

Reliability/Durability : 10
The guitar has stood up well for the 6 months that i have had it... I dropped it once and it went thunk thunk thunk... After i was done freaking out and ready to assess the damage, I picked the guitar up and realized there was no damage whatsoever... Not even a scratch. I was quite amazed. This guitar is pretty and its built to last

Customer Support : 10
Great...Called them to compliment them on the quality of the guitar after the fall incident... Got right through no big deal.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 7 years now... I've had the chance of playing alot of great guitars. I have 2 breedloves, a martin d-35, gibson j-200, taylor 614ce, doolin custom d body... There is no comparison to any other guitar... Not even my $7000 personalized custom koa doolin. I play guitar for a semi-living while i am in college. Hopefully breedlove will want to sponsor me and give me free guitars on of these days, so i can have the whole arsenal... Anyways out of all my guitars this guitar is the best... Its not the most expensive but its the best... I have had guys offering me a Dave Matthews sig martin for my guitar, 2 taylor 714's, and a gibson j-185 and les paul custom. I would never make the trade... Especially considering the uniqueness of the guitar wood

2002 Breedlove Focus (SC-25) grand concert acoustic electric. Solid western red-cedar top, solid Indian rosewood back and sides, mahogoney neck, ebony fretboard and bridge. Fishman Pro-blender electronics. Distinct Breedlove soft cutaway, headstock, and string-thru bridge. Includes hard shell case. Utilizes JLD bridge/truss system to balance the overall sound by allowing the top to vibrate more freely.

Sound : 10
Very balanced sound overall, although fretted treble strings can be more quiet than open or fretted bass strings when fingerpicked. Fits any acoustic style very well. Has a full, clear tone with definite body. Perfect for fingerstyle picking due to great string to string balance, also well suited to flat-picking with enough volume to keep up with a bluegrass circle. Massive sound for a small bodied guitar. Probably the best sounding guitar I've owned. Amplified it sounds great when run through the L.R. Baggs Paracoustic DI box directly into any PA system.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Perfectly set up through custom designing by the staff at Breedlove. The strings are set at the perfect height for me (although some might consider it too high and others too low). The overall visual effect is striking with the perfect cedar top and rosewood sides glossed up. The inlay work is beautiful and it creates a very pretty picture on stage under the lights. There are no finish flaws and everything is top of the line.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is perfect as the cedar top allows it to sound the same anywhere under any condition. The finish lasts very well, although if much strumming is to be done I would recommend a clear pickguard (Breedlove will send you one with instructions as how to apply it). It can put up with abuse, but for such a gorgeous instrument it merits extra-special taking care of. I would definitely play it as my sole instrument for a gig, even when playing through multiple tunings (although it works better to have different guitars tuned to D, G, etc.)

Customer Support : 10
Breedlove has some of the absolute best people to work with. They personally take care of your problems and will do everything within their power to make your experience the best it can be. All Breedlove's come with the lifetime warranty.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 6 years, own multiple high-quality guitars, and Breedlove is by far the best for live settings. The sound quality is exquisite both unplugged and plugged in. I have compared my Breedlove to my Martin, Larrivee, Huss and Dalton, and Santa Cruz and it out performs them on a sound to sound basis, although each guitar has its strengths. I would recommend the Focus to anyone looking for an exquiste fingerstyle guitar. Strumming is not its strong point, but it still excells. Personally, I would rather not play anything else as this guitar is a perfect fit and is pretty much perfect.

Late 2002 Focus: Western Red Cedar Top, East Indian Rosewood Back and Sides, Black Bound Body and Neck with Decorative Top Purfling, Ebony Fingerboard and Peghead Overlay, Breedlove Focus Inlay, Fishman Prefix Pro Blender System.
Only feaure missing was a front strap button - I _think_ from mid 2003 on they have added that.

Sound : 10
In looking at the other reviews of this guitar I find it hard to add any other discriptives for its tone. I will say that it varies more with different brands of strings than other guitars I've owned/played. I'm pretty lazy and so am naturally attracted to the coated strings like the Elixirs or the supplied D'Add. that Breedlove ships with...however. If you want to add a crystal brightness to go with this guitar's natural mellow bass, you might want to stick with a high quality light gauge phosBroz kinda thing.
When you plug this puppy in you will find a whole new pallet of 'sound color' to work with. If you can't get the tone you want with the Fishmen you need to give it up and buy a banjo.
I noted that one of other reviewers had problems with feedback using the cond. mic. I would suggest that on mine the "Notch" and Freq. controls are there to find and kill that problem. If you use the same system consistently when you play out, you'll find a setting that should wipe that concern. As for using Effects, - sliding the blender over all the way off the mic sends a great signal to my digitech RP-80 that has eliminated my need to take my strat-copy with me at all.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
If you whip out your jeweler's loop and go over this guitar you will find it to be about as perfect as anything not made in the original 6 days of creation. I had a Takamininini ( Worse than Banana to spell) that you could see brush strokes of glue inside and bits of sawdust stuck in the curves. I thought that was pretty common in places you don't normaly look. However - My Focus was so clean that I suspect that their craftsmen are too 'retentive' to have a socal life outside the plant. <g>

Reliability/Durability : 9
I'm playing my Focus "live" 2 services every Sunday and wherever else I sit in with my friends who still get paid for this kinda fun. Its so well built I betting on it being a life time guitar for anybody other than Former Pres. Ford or maybe Chevy Chase. That said... nobody should gig without a 2nd guitar. Club owners do not like half a set even if some drunk kicked your guitar off the stage. The case is solid enough to stand on ... and I'm 210 lbs. I'm not saying you should do this but I have ( empty )and it's still in one piece.

Customer Support : 9
I've talked to the company several times. They faxed me a templet with the "Drill here" drawing for my front strap button.
I HATE drilling something so pretty myself but ... I did and it works.
As I said, I'm pretty sure they put the front ones on now. If you order one direct, ask for it.
They are proud of their product and you can hear it from anyone you talk too. I'm not gonna get all misty eyed about American Made but It's sure nice to see craftsmenship and a good work ethic.
They did NOT ship me an extra FREE matching 12 string tho I shamelessly begged them so I'll only give them a 9 <g>

Overall Rating : 10
If this thing gets stolen I will first hunt down the perp. and if I can avoid having to explain the crime to my church...I'll make sure he/she assumes room temp. Then, if I can't recover my Focus I will indeed buy another Breedlove though I might try another model just because.
The number ONE reason I love this guitar is that I play it better than anything else I have ever put my hands on. And frankly, it moves me. When somebody asks me "should I buy this car" I tell them to look at consumer reports and ask their fav wrench turners... when they ask me about guitars I ask them about Feel and emotional response. Do you NEED to play it? Do you want to show it off? Do you tell every other picker you know ?Dude, ya got to get one of these?. For me, this is THE guitar I will call "MINE?. I "have" several guitars; I "PLAY" a Breedlove.

2002 Breedlove Focus. Solid Western Red Cedar top, East Indian Rosewood back and sides, black bound body and neck with understated top purfling, ebony fingerboard,Fishman Prefix Pro Blender System, and D'Addario EXP Light Gauge Strings.

20 fret Grand Concert size. Soft cut-away, "S" pinless bridge,<a href="http://www.bobandbonnie.com/out_of_my_mind/jld_review.html">JLD Bridge System</a>, chrome grover tuning machines. 25.5" scale 1 3/4 neck. Beautiful ebony faced headstock with matching truss-rod cover plate, nickel and abalone soundhole rosette and Breedlove "Focus" inlay fret markers, polymer film (guessing) gloss finish. Heel strap button, nice double-handled hardshell case.

The only additional feature I might wish for would be bone nut and saddle instead of tusq. I think this would brighten the high resisters a bit which are a little understated for my taste.

Sound : 9
I bought the guitar for fingerstyle and it excells here. Beautifully balanced at every point on the neck, like the perfect dry martini where you can't taste the gin or the vermouth. I use "Blackbird" as my standard test for balance and this guitar is as good as it gets. However, I would actually perfer a bit more ringing in the upper registers and the mids are a bit muted, especially when fingerpicked without nail. Replacing the stock EXP's with J16's improved this (80/20's might be even better) but I think replacing the nut and saddle with bone might make this just right. One amazing thing is to play an open D chord at the 14th fret. Beautiful clarity, now if it would just ring a bit more.. The bass is wonderfully rich without being at all boomy.

Overall the sound on this guitar is marvelous. I would rate it a 9.5 if it was allowed. I played side by side against numerous Martin's, two Taylor 714ce, a 514ce, and W12ce and it wins hands down. In my search, the only guitar I found that I liked better soundwise was a Santa Cruz OM which listed for $5800 without pickups.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I wish HC would seperate this category. The fit and finish on this guitar is, to my eye, flawless. The luthier I use said no one in the industry works to higher standards. The neck/body seam is perfect (Breedlove uses the old taylor-style neck joint). The only nit I would pick is that the gloss is so reflective that it detracts from the natural beauty of the wood, which is just awesome. Fit and Finish are a perfect 10.

The action was another story. The guitar as shipped to me from the dealer in Chicago had a 6th string buzz when fretted at 2 or 3. I checked this carefully, it was not technique related as I had two luthiers look at it before I decided to keep it and both agreed the set-up was poor. One wanted to cut the saddle which would have ended my right of refusal. The other just backed off on the truss rod 1/6th of a turn and then cut the nut grooves a bit deeper to relieve the stiffness at the first fret. That eliminated the buzz and made the guitar playable. He is confident he can improve the action even more with a $125 set-up. Given the price I paid, this is acceptible but I'm not the first person to complain about the factory setup.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Given the craftmanship exhibited and the stress relieving bridge system, I am confident this guitar will outlive me.

Customer Support : 10
Extremely helpful and friendly. Knowledgeable service staff with no run around.

I've been playing 30+ years. My other guitars are an Epiphone Howard Roberts archtop, a Martin 4 (circa 1867) classical, an Ovation 1547 Elite, and a Yamaha FG-180 dread beater.

I shopped around a lot before buying this guitar and am convinced no better value exists. I found guitars whose mid range sound was sweeter but at twice the price. I found none to match the bass response of this guitar.

Brand new 2001 Focus. Cedar top, rosewood sides and back, mahogany neck with ebony fretboard and pegboard laminate. Also has a Fishman Prefix Blender pro. I had the original metal tuners replaced with ebony.

Sound : 10
I love the sound of this guitar, mainly because of the bass response. Despite the increased bass response the guitar is still very well balanced. I've been playing this instrument for over a year now and I love it more each time I play it. I had to modify how the electronic wiring was suspended in the body of the guitar. The wires were really long and would resonant against the sound board and back causing a buzzing sound at certain frequencies. It was an easy thing to fix.

The action suits my playing style but is a little high for most people. The Breedlove info states that they do this on purpose. However, the guitar is very easy to play. I noticed an immediate inhancement to my playing ability after purchasing it. The finish is extremely durable and easy to polish. I play out with the guitar a couple of times a month and the finish has survived several encounters with other objects and instruments.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I have had good success playing out with this guitar. However, I have never been able to blend in the condenser mic pickup on stage. I always have feedback problems with the condenser mic. However, in studio situations the condenser mic adds a nice touch when recording through the pickups. This hasn't been a problem because the bridge pickup handles itself quite well on stage with other instruments. However, in the past month or so I have noticed that the Fishman has introduced a noise when using the bridge pickup (does happen with the mic pickup). When I touch the metal part of the patch cable the noise is significantly reduced.

One important thing to consider with breedlove in general is that these guitars are significantly influenced by moisture and temperature. I followed breedlove's advice and purchased humidity controlling equipment for storing the guitar. I have noticed that when traveling for a week or more the guitar sounds duller when not kept in its environmentally stable room. After being home for a day or so with the guitar back in a controlled environment the old guitar comes back to life.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't dealt with them too much. But they sound nice on the phone when ordering parts.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing it for over a year now and have not come across another acoustic guitar that I would buy to replace it. If I were to replace this guitar it would most likely be another breedlove if not the same one. When I try out other guitars in stores or play my friends instruments I always say to myself, "I glad I own a Breedlove!"
