This review echoes the review of the BPG-20 model with some differences. This model is even more basic and comes with a satin finish. Very simple. It is a classic "parlor guitar" style. The thing that got me is how intimate this guitar is. Easy to hold, easy to play and sort of "disappears" allowing me to forget about the guitar and concentrate of playing.

The sides and back are rosewood, spruce top, simple dot markers, bound neck, adjustable truss rod, and a compensated saddle. Plus it has a piezo pick up! I was not looking to buy a guitar when I walked into the Sam Ash store on Lee Road (Orlando) but this sweet guitar called out to me and the moment I started playing it I could not let it go. I love this guitar. The biggest challenge was in my head. No guitar sounding, playing and finished this well should sell for $90.00! A close-out price.

Sound : 10
I like a soft-touch when playing, combination finger-picking and regular pick and this is a very warm sounding guitar, especially for its size. It is a parlor guitar so it is great for personal playing and I have used it all this month leading worship songs for my small fellowship group. It is plenty loud for them and I can play from soft to full easily. There were 2 BPG-20 models I played also but they seemed harsher sounding with the glossy finish.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The way this guitar played right of the rack is what sold me. Action is medium-low, no buzzing and the intonation is great. I was surprised to find the compensated saddle which really helps.

As far as flaws, the only one so far is a slight sharp on edge on two frets; the rest are smooth. The nut is notched slightly lower than the fingerboard which also improves the action.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have played this guitar every day since I bought it and have played for my small group 4 times. It is a delicate instrument because of its size and purpose. The construction is solid, the hardware secure. There is no strap button at the neck but I don't plan on using one - this is a parlor guitar. It is not an instrument that could be taken out without serious care for it but is is a guitar after all and that's what we should do with any instrument.

Customer Support : No Opinion
This is Sam Ash's house model. It is so simple that any guitar tech could work on it.

I ahve been playiing for over 40 years. I currently own one other guitar and buying an archtop soon. I hope it doesn't get stolen because I don't think it could be replaced for what it does for the money. I love to play this guitar. Yes it is easy to look at but it plays so well.

Read the review of the BPG-20. I agree with everything he had to say abaout this guitar.
