This is a dreadnought-style guitar with features similar to a Martin D-28. It has Grover tuners. The frets seem somewhat small, definitely not jumbo. It has a glossed finish spruce top, a mahogany neck.

When I received it, it came with Elixir Nanoweb light strings. It really played very easily and sounded jangly and bright. Recently I put on a set of Nanoweb mediums, and, wow, it sounds and feels how a dreadnought should. It's a great flat-picking guitar. I tend to play a bluesy, jazzy style where I slur notes and probably break a lot of rules. This guitar is not good for that type of play. It excels, especially with medium strings, in straight-forward strumming and deliberate single note lead playing. I'm actually excited about developing that type of playing style. I'm eager to see what it sounds like recorded. Before, with light strings, it was very pleasant, but I'm expecting it will go up another notch.

The guitar was set up perfectly. Wow. Really impressed. Perfect intonation. And there was not a flaw anywhere. Really a beautiful instrument.

Its weight feels light, but everything appears wonderfully made.

I believe the warranty is for five years. That sounds pretty long to me. I received it through the mail and it came very quickly and was packaged very well. I bought the hard case with it -- I believe that is mandatory now. So it was very well packaged. Carvin appears to be a great company.

I spent a long time looking for a new acoustic steel string. (I also own a thin-bodied acoustic-electric.) I considered a Taylor, which was over my budget, Yamaha, which I also liked, and others in the $300-$500 range. I'm very glad I selected this guitar.

This is the easyest guitar I have ever played. For my own taste I would of put just a little bit bigger frets on.If you take care of this guitar keep it in ita case,it will last till you die.Unless you droped it and cracked the neck.Never need a backup

Spruce top - Mahogany back and sides, not sure on neck, it looks to be some sort of composite. Finderboard doesn't look to have any grain, it doesn't feel like real wood. Grover tuners though, was happy to see them.

Has nice bright sound, I don't have the greatest ear but I'm happy with it.

Action is killer, guitars finish appears to be flawless, very nice. Thicker neck than I would perfer, reminds me of my Clapton strat neck. I perfer thinner necks but it's something I'm sure I will get use to.

For the money, very nice. Hardshell case that came with it(you need to purchase one if it's being shipped) is very nice. I debated between the Carvin and the Seagull and figured import was import so what did it matter. Went back to the store and played the Seagull after receiving my Carvin and was happy with the choice.
