Very exquisite tone with outstanding sustain in the higher frets. This is my second nylon string guitar and this one sounds far supperior to my old takamine. The difference is with the cordoba I only get buzz when I make a mistake.

It seems most people complain about the action of nylon strings these days since most are accustomed to playing with lower action steel strings. That being said I think the action may be a little high.

I havent had it long but my guess is that if I dont drop or get it stolen, it will last atleast a dozen years.

Cordoba 50R classical guitar. Hand made in Spain. Features include: solid cedar top, rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard, gold plated tuners, and Honduran cedar neck. No electronics nor pickups. Just the basic classical guitar.

The sound on this instrument is awesome! Great tone! The sound immediately catches your attention. No buzzing or noises from the instrument. It is louder than my other classical, and that makes it a better guitar to perform in small theaters or churches.

The action was not set to my satisfaction from the factory. However, I took it to a music store called The Bandstand in Jackson, TN and their guitar tech ground the bridge down to a playable level. Now it plays great and sounds great.

I can tell that this guitar is a very reliable instrument. I have already performed with it, and it is a very solid well made guitar. The people in Spain know what they are doing.

I have been playing classical guitar on and off for over 15 years. My other guitar is an Alvarez CY117 classical which is 20 years old and is almost falling apart. For the last year, I have been heavily involved with gospel music, and I play solo guitar instrumentals at my church. The only gripe that I have about this guitar is that it did not play very well when I first took it out of the case. I have been informed that the makers of handmade guitars like this one intentionally set the action up high so the guitarist can have it adjusted to his/her preference. For the price, quality, and sound, I would highly recommend the 50R to anybody.

This guitar was made in 2001, solid cedar top, ebony fretboard and laminated rosewood back and sides. After tax this guitar set me back around $700.

the sound of this instrument is what sold me on it. I have been playing fingerstyle for ten years and have tried a large number of instruments before this purchase. The projection is excellent, with
a bouquet of overtones that are commonly found in instruments well past the $1000 range. Best I could find inder a grand.

The fit is perfect for me. I have only had this guitar 7 months and I know its a keeper. There are some small blemishes in the finish, but nothing you will notice if you are not looking for it. I could find
nothing that would impair the instruments playability, it was ready to go right off the showroom floor.

This is a fairly durable instrument. I have given it a few bangs here and there and have not inflicted any visible damage. I trust it enough to leave it out of its case when not playing. This is my practice workhorse, I take it everywhere.

This is a well crafted student guitar. It has amazing projection for its price tag, but not enough to make it a viable performance instrument. I tried several other cordoba 50r-40r guitars and found them to be fairly uniform in craftsmanship. Still try as many as you can each one is going to have its own character, you will find that there are noticable differences in sound between 50Rs

Made in 2001, Spain, solid Cedar top, Rosewood body, Cedar neck, Ebony fret board. Nice tuners with gold hardware. Case was included in my deal.

I play folk/country/blues/crossblended mexi-cajun
Rich/full well-balanced sound. No noise, nice fretwork. You can take this guitar from Gypsy Kings to Willie Nelson and anywhere in between. For the $$$ this guitar was #1. It sounded better than anything else in the $400 - $700 range. I liked that a lot.
So many classical guitars under $700 sound like playschool toys????

The set-up was well done. Finish is heavy gloss, but nice and does not impact the sound negatively. The ebony fret board has some light wood grain streaks that I think add to its character like a birthmark--you might not. Flaws include a dab of lacquer on the back of the headstock (like a small chunk of caramel), and two under-lacquered spots on the edges of the sound hole (perhaps due to the finishing process/equipment). Overall, she's a beauty and appears very well crafted.

Looks/feels very well made. It looks as if could stand up to a lot of playing and travel. I'm not concerned that it is delicate or fragile like I am with some other guitars mine/friends that I've handled. I would not have bought it if I was concerned about reliability/durability.

I bought it at Guitar Center and have had good luck with them in general--never dealt with Cordoba, but who knows...

I've been playing for a little over 2 years. I have an Epiphone PR-100, Norman B-20, Epiphone Sheraton II, and Fender Fat Strat.
I bought this guitar after several months of research-- narrowing the field to a Cordoba or Manuel Rodriguez in the $400-$500 range. I listened to a professional musician (no day job) play several guitars in the $1500 - $3000 range while I was shopping, asked him some questions, he graciously accepted when I asked him to play this guitar and another, and essentially I bought it because I saw/heard him put it through its paces--it came through with flying colors. He armed me with what I needed to know to cut the deal I did. Without his advice, ...I'd still be shopping.

Purchased in 1998. Main in Spain. Has 18 Frets. Solid one piece Cedar top. Standard classical style instrument. Rosewood fret board. I did have it set-up by a well known lutherier. When purchased the playability was rated about a 7, after having it it worked on it is now a 10. Model is intended for serious students or semi-professional levels. I searched and played many instruments for about six month, cost not being the primary factor. Finally I was very impressed with the sound and quality of this instrument. Workmenship seems great, beautiful instrument.

I normally stick to classical when playing this piece but every now and then I'll switch to jazz. The sound is rich, full and clean. It rivials, if not excels, many of the so-called concert level instruments. Additionally, I've played several other R50's that didn't have the same rich sound but I think this one is a real winner.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action now is great (10) but once again I think that was due to the lutherier. For those initially purchasing I would check the neck and the action from the manufacturer. Classical guitar set-ups are quite different than their electric counterparts. If you can get that worked out you'll have a fine instrument.

Mostly I play for personal enjoyment now and the guitar rarely leaves the house. The guitar seems very durabile, good and solid.
