Product: Cordoba 75R Classical
Price Paid: US $599.00

Features : No Opinion

this guitar was made in 2004
solid rosewood (Indian) back and sides
solid German spruce top
ebony finger board and saddle
cordoba humi-case purchased sparately
price: 599.00

Sound : 7
I play pieces of carluzi, torregas, contreras as well as my own and I find it has superb projection in its highs but it lacked a little warmth in the three bases. I loosoned the strings and with a small hand plainer, I shaved down the last two base braces uder the top. This openned the top and let looses the full rich spanish sounding bases while maintaining the clarity of the trebles. I turned it into a $3,000.00 sounding guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action was a little high but nothing that could not be modified with simpicity. The fit was perfect. The finish was worthy of a 10 on a scale of 1-10. The jumbo frets are perfectly alighned and filed. Beeing a lutthier myself, I know that the wood is authentic solid Indian rosewood inth back and sides.
the neck is made of African Mahogany and the fingerboard ia authentic
African Ebony.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Despite my modifying the bracing, this is a solidly built instrument. The hardware is congruent to the guitar's quality, beauty and finess. The finish is not to thin or thick and as a security blanket, I always install clear pick guards on all my guitars. I find the 75R to be a very reliable and auditive and visual
piece.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I purposely voided the warranty in order to achieve the mature sound I desire from a musical instrument when I shaved down the bracing.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I have been playing seriuosly for 20 years. The only thing I would do is make the side 5" intstead of the usual dementions. this would give the bases better projection without sacrificing the trebles.

This is a 2004 Cordoba 75R, which means it has a solid spruce top and solid rosewood back and sides. The neck appears to be mahogany with an ebony inlay. I bought it new for six hundred eighty six dollars and it came with a Cordoba case.

Sound : 10
The sound is rich and full, well balanced and has a great sustain. It is ideal for classical music/flamenco sound I play. I've compared it to instruments cost more than three grand and it compared favorably. (I buy for sound, not price. It must sound good or it's not worth the money. I've played cheap guitars with a superb sound and expensive guitars that sounded as though they were made of balsa.)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The strings were a little high, but not bad. (I'm planning on changing the saddle to bone and shaving a little off to lower the strings.)
The top, back and sides were superbly matched and finished in a high gloss

Reliability/Durability : 8
I use this guitar for live performances and I'm sure it will last.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I don't know how to get hold of Cordoba--their web site is for appearance only--classy, but no information.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing 44 years and own three other good guitars: a Breedlove flat top, a Hopf flat top and a Garcia grade 3.
If this guitar were stolen or lost, I would go looking for another--it would be a great loss. It has quickly become my favorite guitar. It makes my Garcia look silly, but it should?I only paid $225 new for it when it was new (34 years ago).

This is a second review of this guitar. I have reviewed this guitar before (see below) and decided to give it another chance at a different G.C. store. This 75R is all solid woods all the way around with a good quality solid german spruce top and solid rosewood back and sides.(the inside grain lines match the outside grain lines)although im not sure if it is indian rosewood? there are many types of rosewood out there im not sure what country this rosewood is from but its definetly dense and heavey wood! the ebony reinforcemnet in the neck is nice insurance. tuners are of good quality

Sound : 10
This model is a 2002 and it just arrived at the store hardly played. For $799(normally $1400) i thought i would try it again what the heck!. This guitar looks just the same as the 1st one except the tone had more definition and was bolder sounding. THe only thing i didnt like about it was the doink it again produced on the Low E, A & D strings when doing piccados(typical on new spruce tops). nevertheless, this doink faded quite a bit since bought new had it for 2 months now and I am beginning to like it alot more.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The spruce top will open up more as time goes by this is what it needs since i have been strumming power chords on it like mad. the sound is spanish no doubt on this guitar but, it is clear and punchy . Good all the way around(seperation) and presence is really nice! the highs on it are getting treblier. it is breakin in i can tell since i dont have to push it has hard as in the beginning with my right hand

Reliability/Durability : 8
I think that as time goes by it will sound alot better . anyhow for $799 it was a deal! this guitar sounds great for the money hands down! it makes a takemine sound like a toy, and will give some concert guitars a run for the money, it beats the aria ac -80 no problem, and is on par with any E-or -R series Ramirez or Esteve, alhambra or whatever easily. I recommend that you try many of the same models out to be sure you dont buy a lemon the first time around like i did(wife did!! he he)

Overall Rating : 10
This guitar is ideal for the classical style of playing. It has a nice reselience to it. It has strong sustain, good projection but, the attack could be better, this might improve as the top opens up some. it sure does sound much better now than when i bought it a couple of months ago.. i will keep my fingers crossed and hope for the better as time goes by.

Well here it goes! And noooo people im not a salesman! just a regular guy that buys guitars like you!!! OK here we go. The Cordoba 75R bought at G.C. and brought back to G.C. WELL I begged my wife to pick it up for me since it was on sale and I was faraway from town, so she got it and bought it home in a nice case! whew! alright!! another guitar!! (thanks honey)!! I opened the case and looked it over it looked really shiney and beautiful! Then I started to tune it chord it and a quick rasgueado or two. I began to play bachs prelude in D, then villa lobos etude no.1 ,, huh? heh! what the F*** I checked the tuning and again looked inside at the label to be sure it said cordoba 75R!! what a trip! D*MMNN!! iTs Authentic alright, right from madrid. thats what it said

Sound : 5
The solid german spruce top and according to GC and a famous guitarra saloon website says solid indian rosewood back and sides B.S. man!! The top is solid yep i give them half credit. but the back and sides are NOT!! darn whats up wilbur?? I was scratching my head did i get ripped? I think so! THis guitar projects a modest volume and what it projects is a tone that is noisey. In some registers it sounds like a banjo! More doink doink doink coming from the sound hole at times than the actual notes! Whoa! I dont like that. I like a clear tone no noise!Probobley the spruce top needs time to open up im thinking. will it? who knows. its a gamble. Im thinking its definetly going back! This guitar just might of been a result from someone who had a bad nite. it is a nitemare peeeeople at least this one is.was !:)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
The action was a little high but not a problem plenty of saddle material left to slim it down. The fit was very good a perfect 650mm straight neck and a almost petite body style. The lacquer on the guitar was done nicely! A tiny bit harsh around the sound hole though. NIce jumbo frets, TOP looked book matched. it definetly looked better than it sounded.

Reliability/Durability : 5
This guitar felt solid . solidly built definetly! perfect for any aspiring snobby student and thats all folks!! I started on a piece of junk very low end yamaha that is still around now somewhere in the attic of my home. its a virtually undestructible beach touring guitar that built up my left hand. I dont know what cordoba's marketing scheme was for the buyer of this 75R. its definetly not a concert grade guitar! It wasnt for me thank god! students can get a much better sounding guitar elsewhere for less money (stick with cedar for budget buyers)

never had the chance

Overall Rating : 5
This guitar sounds just a bit better than the (sam ash music) version carlo robelli classical even though that one has a laminated top and is about 100 bucks. I have been playing classical/flamenco for over 15 yrs and should of known better!!(I should have listened to my instructor at the conservatory he shouted ((stay away from factory guitars man!! ooooops))I normally dont buy classicals from G.C. but when i saw the ad for the 75R, I admit i was overwhelmed (all solid wood) yeah right! i wanted to give it a cry. what a mistake a dumb one!!!(sorry honey) i would say its sound is worth a quarter of what i paid !really now. I really wish G.C. at the very least would carry classicals like kenny hill, montalvo's, la mancha, and better. I can say one thing positive about cordoba is that their models (1a rio) and(1a india)are truly awesome sounding!!!!!! but the 75R gives em a bad name. I recommend to stay away from it:)

This is an authentic Spanish guitar. 19 Frets. German Spruce and Brazillion rosewood. Lovely body and finishing work. Solid Top. Made in 2000. Nifty little decorated pegs and headstock.

Sound : 9
The sound is very rich and full, from dark and edgy to soft, smooth, and well rounded. It is pretty loud assuming you have good strings. What can I say, I've had it for a year and I love it to death. Sustain could sometimes be better, but that's mostly a minor quibble. Basically, it produces very lovely sounds, very good for classical and also for flamenco, and I also do jazz on it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
On my particular guitar, the action was a bit high, and I had to have it lowered. Overall, feels very good though. No flaws really.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is one I'm going to have forever.

I'v ebeen playing for 2 years and also own a blueridge steel string, and soon, a bass. Th is a very good guitar given its price range. I saw guitars that were listed as $500 and this one was still better. I played around 30 guitars when searching for one in a price range between 500 and $1500 and this was clearly the best given its price.
