I bought this guitar three years ago and reviewed it on this site shortly after purchase. It is a nylon string, electric, solid body guitar, similar, but I think better than, the Gibson Chet Atkins. The reason I am re-viewing the ax is that after three years it still impresses me as about as good as it gets without going to a Rick Turner or a Sand guitar--guitars that cost 4 to 10 times more money.
It features Timber Plus electronics with volume, presence,hi, mid, and low range controls. I could like it a little better if it had individual string control.

Sound : 8
I have been using the guitar with a Crate Limo for performance, with a slight amount of DPS, and for recording--straight into the recorder. The crafter has a fairly clean sound and records well. It has a slight boomyness when played with a lot of strong attack. I also use, once in a while, a boss fuzz box and it sounds like something out of this world. The guitar can sound just about anyway you'd like. I think it could be better tone-wise.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The guitar was set up beautifully straight from the factory, The action is incredibly nice and plays easier and faster than a Godin or a Chet Atkins. The finish on my is good on the face but the back finish leaves something to be desired. I've looked at others in the guitar store and I think I got one that particularly bad--but I did not complain because the guitar is over-all a marvelous piece of work.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've worked this guitar hard, for three years, and it's never let me down. My only conplain is that it might be too durable, i.e., it's a bit heavy. Like all solid body guitars, after a while the thing start feeling like a club. In my first review I noted that the guitar seems light compared to some other solid body buitars I've played--but over time I've come to desire a lighter instrument. I wish Crafter make a hollow body in the same dimensions.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No idea, never had to deal with the company. I do like their web site, however would note that it's a slow site. Crafter should, as do some other makers, highlight each model/type with a picture so a perspective buyer could quickely get to the sort of instrument he or she might like to buy. People have tried to look my guitar, after seeing and hearing it, and they tell me it took them forever to find it on the site.

Overall Rating : 10
I have a passion for nylon string guitars. I started with some Mexican guitars, went through a Goya, still have a La Patria, have a Chet Atkins Knock off, have played the Godins, the Gibsons, and a Rick Turner. I am particular interested in the new world nylons that are electric and come without a sound hole--for their clear performance and recording abilities. I've been running through the Silent nylons and owned a Yamaha. In terms of what I want and can afford, the Crafter is the deal of the century.

The guitar is blond tigerwood/spruce, en the set up is perfect. The frets are well done finished. Crafter have their own way of inside (passive) amplification called timber plus. One volume control, three band eqilizer:bass, middle, treble, and an extra scoop(wide/near sound). There is also a mute and phase knop in the electric part on top. Its a well done finished eye catching guitar delivered without a case our gigbag. The tuners works perfectly, nice brass fitted at the headstock.

Sound : 9
I use this guitar to play flamenco style and classic. But i got nice bluestunes out of it as well. The inside eqilizer reacts very direct and brings out nice configurates of sounds. I play it first through a Line 6 Flextone (jazz clean amp setting)and was happy with the sound of it. Now i got the Crafter-DSP1 amplifier its sounds marvelous, wow it delivers me all i need._

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I have a perfectly build guitar without any flaws. The action gives me the oportunity too play real fast up and down the neck. Because its closed (no sound hole)there isn,t any feedback, yes great.

Reliability/Durability : 8
The reliability/durability of this guitar is good. Play it out live gives me no problems at all. I think just as al other guitars it got his marks after a several years, but at this time the wood is good. Somethimes i must adjust the strapbuttons because they are right finished on the body without anything between it.

I have not had any contact with te company yet, but i trust the Koreans because i,ve been in Korea several times and see them as really craftmanship builders to make a good product.

Overall Rating : 10
I had different kind of classical/flamenco type of guitars trough the years i be playing, but never find such a fine instrument as this one. It looks good, and the sound is good. If it will be stolen i go for the ct-125 again. I don,t have to look around for something else!

Started in 1972, Crafter is a Korean family business now producing about 60,000 guitars a year. The top is listed as maple or spruce, but I'm not sure it makes any difference since the guitar is a gloss black. The manufacturer says that this guitar has a solidwood body, but I don't think so--it's about 2 inches thick and way too light to have a solid body. But it has no sound hole, and the body looks like a solid-body electric guitar. What makes the guitar distinctive is that it is an electric guitar with a classical guitar neck (though very refined). It is a beautiful guitar.

Sound : 9
I play blues, folk, country, and a little rock. This guitar can sound like anything you want, but whatever you play sounds different than what you get with traditional instruments because it's an electrified, nylon string guitar without the acoustic escape of a sound hole. I am playing through a Crate Limo and the sound can be classical/mellow or rock/raucous.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The set-up is superb--other than the fret-work. The Frets are a little sharp on the edge and needed a little emory paper. The pickups arn't quite right, the bass needs to be turned down and the treble turned up to get it balanced--but it does balance. The hardware runs smooth. The finish is nice to look at, but close scrutiny, under good lighting, reveals that the woods were not sanded as fine as they should have been.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I play 3-5 hour sessions on weekends, often in an open park area, with 10 to 14 band members. We play through all sorts of weather and sometimes, as when we've had too much string lube to drink, we play hard. This guitar shows every sign of being able to take the insults of hard use.

Crafter is marketed by Hohner, a company I've had good luck with. I was disapointed with how little material came with the guitar: I would have liked a little booklet, at least, with the specs, the woods, the electronics, and a little jive just to make me feel like I got something special. Fortunately, the guitar is special enough that I've been able to live without the hype.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 30 years, mostly nylon string classical, electric guitars. I started my explorations of nylon string guitars with various mexican guitars, been through a Goya, a Chet Atkins, A Takamine, a Hohner, and a Washburn C104. This is my favorite and I'd be very unhappy if it were stolen. It hasn't been stolen and I'm thinking of buying a second one in the blond wood finish. Everyone who sees this guitar wants to play it, and loves it when they do. I'm thinking of buying stock.
