Everything called in the other reviews I could write her to, I got it in a box perfectly setup.

The sound is very warm, I like it with Martin strings (copper) They give the D8 a very warm sound.
The neck plays very smooth and it stays in tune for a long time (great tuners)

On some places (where my hand lays on the top) the finish is a bit fading, but for the rest it seems to last a long time.
Once I picked up my hardcase, but it wasn't locked so de D8 fell on one of the locks on the case, a little hole in the finish, but not straight trough (this is repared and filled up with epoxy and a new lack)

On a live gig the only problem is to tune the thing as I can't tune it by listning and use a tuner (korg or yamaha) that's it. It sounds real great with a instrument mic (condensator)

Never had to deal with them. I like the website. Once I tried a Convoy and it played as smooth as the D8, maybe oneday...

I've been playing guitar for about ten years, I own an Adonis bass 5-string black, Marshall Valvestate BiChorus 200, Soldano amplifier from the 70s and a 4x10" cabinet (about 1000 watts)
I wish I had a Silvertone Paul Stanley PSSN-2 and a Telecaster

2005 Crafter D-8. Korean made, 20 frets to the body. Solid Englemann spruce top (so I am informed) and a reddish color laminate back and sides. The neck is also a reddish mahogany; rosewood bridge. Simple inlay and appointments. I am not fond of the pickguard design. Everything else is very good for an inexpensive guitar. It was smart to put a good top into an inexpensive body, since the response is very fast and good.

In the six months I have had this instrument it has come into its own. Part of the process was switching to titanium strings on the G,D,A,E and med/light Martin SP trebles. Tusq bridge pins. This is a lovely fingerstyle guitar; not very loud, but for recording it's perfect. This is not a guitar to strum hard. It's a sweet sounding little thing, getting mellower each day.

I got the guitar in eBay via a dealer, so it was set up nicely. As well, they included some extra saddles. The guitar played well right out of the box, but it needed new strings. Took a while for the guitar to start to sound good, but it was always responsive. It is a very well made guitar; lots of good detail and it's sturdy. You could do far worse. I was/am impressed with this guitar for the price.

I don't know if the top lacquer is nitrocellulose but it's a lot thinnner than the standard heavy gloss finish on inexpensive guitars. This, I think, helps make the soundboard vibrate a bit more freely. The finish is good overall. Nicely done. I bought this guitar as a play-out guitar. Acoustically it's lovely, but the pickguard design just doesn't suit my taste. Most other people wouldn't care but I do.

I called up Crafter USA once to find out if I could put on medium gauge steel strings (the guitar came with D'Addario light phosphor bronze; horrible strings!). I put on some Sadowsky medium nickel-wound mediums and the guitar sounded really great (phosphor .56 on the low E, however). The Crafter guy was helpful but a bit dismissive. I think I interruped his game of solitaire.

I've been playing for a long long time. 1963 or so. My main guitar is a Martin J-40, but because it's so dynamic, I can't easily record with it. It just a cannon. I got the Crafter to use for recording and it has worked extremely well, since it's a fairly modest, sweet-sounding guitar. Not overly bassy; very clear. The titanium strings have a sustain that steel cannot match. I chose this guitar because, for the money, it was a wonderful value. I still feel that way. I will sell it locally for twice that amount and may get another Crafter. I am very impressed with Crafter guitars. They are very nicely made and are rare enough to be prized.

2003, made in South Korea.
20 frets. Engleman spruce top, mahogany back and sides. Mother of pearl inlays. Distinctive Crafter shaped scratchplate (like a Gibson Dove) imitation tortoiseshell.
Dreadnought size. Neck joins body at 14th fret. A medium sized neck, just wide enough down by the nut, although could do with a bit more space down there.

Not too loud for a dreadnought. You get a very bassy respone and it's a very 'percussive', punchy guitar. I don't think it's an out-and-out strummer though. It responds well to finger style playing and sounds mellow and cutting when playing single string ilnes with a pick when playing with others. So it's not really bassy. It's mellow and middly with just enough treble to cut through and lift it out of being muddy. And instead of bass you get more of a low frequency 'punch' off the soundboard. That said it's not boxy. I suspect better woods would give a more rounded sound but this is fine for the moeny and I suspect it'll get 'rounder' with age... I hope!

Perfect from the shop. Has a rock-solid dual truss rod system. I play with 12's. The finish is very durable indeed. Have knocked it a few times and virtually no knocks show. Most certianly built to last.

Superb in every department here. Stands up well live and inspires confidence. The tuners are especailly good, very smoothly geared and making alternative tunigs very easy to accomplish quickly and accurately.

This is my first real steel strung acoutstic. Have always played electric up until recently, but this guitar has given me the acoustic music bug!
It's an excellent all rounder. If I had to part with it I'd probably go for something with a wider neck and further up the price range. But this guitar is an excellent place to have started and certainly it's mellow sound and solid feel are benchmarks I'll carry round next time I go acoustic shopping. I can highly recommend Crafter.
