Features : 8
Features listed before me, Cedar Top, Mahog sides/back.

Neck scale is quite thin but fills my hand well compared to other acoustics I've played - I have tiny fingers so finding a neck which I like is usually a mission.

It's a simple dreadnaught, no fancy stuff, great craftsmanship! As said before me, great tuners too.

Sound : 9
I play fingerpicking and strummed songs, so I needed something which sounded good for both of them.
It had to be warm, and loud - but not get messy with strumming.

I played a bunch of acoustics, the shop had the Jumbo with spruce front which I LOVED the tone of, but I wanted a dreadnaught so I got them to bring down the D-7 and DE-7.
I played a bunch of Spruce tops, but found the sound too 'boxy' and flat for my liking - though they do change with age.

So I was set on the rich warm tones of the Cedar. I found the DE-7 just didnt sound as good as the D-7 - perhaps due to the cutaway.
The sound isnt as massive as the Jumbo, but it was quite a bit cheaper - and I much rather the Dreadnaught shape.

I'll give this a 9 because it really does sound amazing, I constantly get remarks on it's tone - and it sounded better than much more expensive acoustic guitars.
It's got a smooth low bassy sound which I love, and its really loud too - so great for busking or jamming.
I pair it with Elixer acoustic strings for their bright sound and it balances wonderfully.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I still haven't found anything but great craftsmanship on this guitar, it really is quite wonderful.

The frets all sound perfect, and action was set up perfectly when I got it.
I have no problems with it at all, I'll give it an 9, for the money I've never seen better.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Theres really not much to go wrong with it.

The tuners are really solid and nice, strap button is nice and big so no slippage, bridge is super sturdy.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for 5 years or so, my previous acoustic guitar was a cheap Sonic one which I got during my first year of playing.
I play mainly older music, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rolling stones, Cream, Hendrix, John Lee Hooker style blues etc. As well as modern songs I like - The Verve, Radiohead...

I think I thoroughly checked out guitars in my price range before settling, Epiphones were low quality and overpriced, Takamine's were nice but still didnt sound as good as the Crafters.
If it were stolen I'd be gutted, I think I'd definitely replace it with another Crafter though.
I would like to get an electric pickup for it, I'm glad I didnt go with the DE-7 just for the pickup, because the tone of this one was much better.

I think people should check out these guitars when in the market for one, they are MUCH better than a lot of other things in the same price range.

Product: Crafter D7
Price Paid: $220 (Canadian)
Submitted 04/19/2006 at 05:37pm by Perkin's fan

Features : 7
2006 model made in Korea.
Standard dread. acoustic.
20 jumbo frets
Crafter brand tuners (And they are very good!
This thing stays tuned, amazing)
Solid cedar top
mahogany sides and back
satin finish
Abalone dot markers

I give it a 7 because its just a standard dreadnought.
No problems.

Sound : 9
The sound for a acoustic at this price point is amazingly good.
It doesn't have that "crisp" bite that my 1966 Framus has,
but the Framus has a solid spruce top, and this Crafter is solid Cedar.
The cedar gives it a more laid back, "mellower" tone.
I like it alot.
Its a good finger picking guitar, and I can strum it as well.
And me finding a guitar I like for both is rare! lol
All in all, I'ts sound/tone I'd say is one of its many strong points.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I can't say what the action was like from the factory, cause the guy at the shop set it up for me at no charge.
The way I recieved it the action was really low.
No fret buzz or other issues.
It was just the way I like it,but I used to play electric guitar almost exclusively.
The fit & finish are fine.
No complaints at all.

Reliability/Durability : 7
This guitar would definitely withstand live playing no problem.
The hardware seems very durable.
Hell, I've played it every day for 2 months and according to my Korg tuner it is still perfectly in tune.
I certainly would depend on it to stand up to gigs,BUT
you should always have a backup.

I give it a 7 only because I've only had it a couple of months.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never dealt with the company, but the shop I got it from is very reputable and stand behind their products.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing since 1970.
I also own a Vox standard model 24,a Framus acoustic,&
Samick Les Paul copy.
I plug the electrics into either a old Traynor 30 watt tube amp
or my Behringer gmx1200h ss. amp.
I have no regrets after buying this guitar.
It plays great. It has a nice action with good feel.
The tone (for this price) is fantastic.
If it was lost or stolen,I would buy another just like it in a heartbeat.
The only nitpicker I could come up with is the pick guard.
I don't like the shape and it looks kinda cheap.
I wish they would have just left it off.
