I got this eko 100 archtop acoustic off ebay as a project for 49.00 I believe it to be built between 58-63 because of the model #100 on the f-hole sticker, after 63 they changed to a model name instead of the number. this one has the blonde burst finish, slim line body, great feelin bolt on neck with rosewood fretboard, mahogany back, sides, and neck with a blond wood veneer over a solid mahogany top.The clear finish they used back then is thick, not the typical nitro-laquer of the time. This guitar has proved to be a diamond in the rough, with a lot of work on my part it has become my favorite guitar to play. the sound / voice is beautiful and sweet, the body is small and light, only slightly bigger than a lespaul but acoustic! and the 24 1/4" scale is very similar to a gibson since it has the same 12"radius as most gibson electrics. this guitar sounds and feels amazing I cant put it down!

Sound : 10
I would rate the sound a 10. amazing sound for such a small guitar and the thick clear coat that should dull the tone severely. beautiful woody rich tone that shouldnt come from such a small guitar, no doubt the 45yr old mahogany doing its job.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
The original frets, hung over the fretboard by about 1/8" or less on each side, it was painful to wrap your hand around. I have read that the craftsmanship on these early eko's was very sporadic. I think this one was never played, eventually the strings broke and it got tossed in the attic or basement for years cause the finish has many surface cracks and the neck had a severe back-bow that would not release when the truss rod was loosened.

Reliability/Durability : 10
reliability is a 10. even with all the problems this baby had, the body has held up nicely the finish has many cracks but doesn't effect the sound just the looks. the open tuners look old and cheap but they still stay in tune perfectly (easily as well as my '76 explorer)if it had a pickup I would play it at a gig as some eko 100's did have pickups, it would be perfect for a coffee shop gig all the way to electric with a full band, (think lindsey buckingham tone). I would definitly gig this without a backup and now that I have it I would like to find another one cause I dont know how I'd replace it if something happened to it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
did the repairs myself, never tried to contact the company.

Overall Rating : 10
I wish this one had a pickup. it feels like a lespaul but acoustic. I would definitly get one again if I can find one!
