Used Eastman SJ 616 2005 Made in China - Solid Stika Spruce top, this one's unique has highly flamed Solid Maple back, sides and rims. No electronics
Bought used in 08. 25" scale, ebony fretboard, maple 3pc. dove tailed neck, 4 1/4 thick, 16" lower bout. Patterned after the SJ200 Gibson I would venture

Sound : No Opinion
Rich, Bright, full, crisp, balanced sound. Much brighter than a flat top, but not quite a full archtop either. Very wonderfully balanced. Can be used fingerepicking or flatpicking. Has great versitility.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
This one was used, the original action set-up had been modified (lowered) to the point the high E string made a horrible plinking sound when strummed anything above soft. Bone saddle and nut had been modified by someone other than an expert is my opinion. Replaced
the saddle with a new Tusq one and added a b-band unit while resetting up the action to a more usable working height. What a difference a day makes! Easy on the fingers, terrific tone and great music.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I own/have owned 5 Eastmans...archtops, flattops, arch backs, jumbos, dreads.... I've always had beautiful fit and finish, this was no exception. This guitar has seen a great dealof play, and has plenty left in it. It has stood some active gigging and holds a tune remarkable well with Thomasik strings ( .012-.052)

Customer Support : 9
Can't speak for the factory service folks, but have been able to find anything I need using parts comparible to the Taylor 615 series...

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I currently own 15 guitars of various flavors, mostly upscale stuff..I have three what I would consider high prices accoustics alone, but the eastman SJ616 and flattop AC715 jumbo still rate as the guitars I play the most. So would I replace it if it were lost...lol I already ordered the AJ 817 big brother...

I love country, jazz classical, everything
I finally found a guitar that does it all
Lots of presence, balanced full yet not screaming
I can't describe this beautiful voice
All strings sing in unison
not like my Martin or Larrivee which both sound like 6 individual strings.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I never bought a guitar that arrived this perfect for me
medium strings action on the low side but i cant get a buzz no matter how hard I strum
The wood is picture perfect
The finish is a beautiful gloss

Reliability/Durability : 10
I don't know if the gold tuners will hold up over time but everything seems really solid now

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
Been Playing for many years, amateur level
I'm every retailers worst nightmare
I am really picky I wrote 2 reviews of a seagull already sold it and a Larrivee I own and trashed the seagull and am really very unimpressed with my Larrivee, om03r wanna buy it? It's nice but just another guitar.
My "Chinese" Eastman is different it was love at first strum, the action is perfect, the voice (it seems to have a singing voice) was the call of the sirens, I am so hooked I miss it at work, at home my family is getting really pissed off- enough with the damn guitar my 6 year old who was ready for guitar lessons is changing to piano, she is disgusted.I am starting a local chapter of Eastman anonymous.
I never felt this for my Gretsh, Martin D-35,Larrivee, Simon Patrick
While I always felt the Gretsch and Simon Patrick were a great value and really enjoy playing them..... I have to stop talking about this Eastman, I hate Harmony Central rave reviews it seems like everything someone buys is the best. I wonder if this is this Eastman or all eastmans.. I'll stop now
