Epiphone '63 Ltd Ed Reissue J45

Finish is very clean, and attention to detail at the epiphone custom shop first rate. This guitar is their cherry red, white pickguard model. I love the looks, and feel of this guitar. Had my luthier install bone nut/saddle, and action tweaked a little. Wow for the money! Solid top, not sure about sides/back, but looks good inside.

The guitar right out of the box is nice, and will hold its own with many 300-800 dollar acoustics. I did change out the nut/saddle, and would like to think that its close to the gibsons sound. I have not played any that sound this good for the price. imho

The action was ok, set up in nashville the paperwork stated. I thik the "custom shop" in Korea builds a very nice guitar. The action could be compared to the masterbuilts, again imho.

It is nicely put together, they did a fine job at epiphone.

Picker for 5 years, owner of entry level guild gad50, martin dx1, yamaha 310, and now this epihone. Im in love with the gibson j45/martin d28/ but who isnt? There is great guitars for every ones budget, and i think this epi is one of em.

Spruce top with what is likely a mahogany laminate back and sides and a rosewood fret board and bridge. I bought a "jump out and git ya" cherry red one with a garish white pick guard and it's so ugly I've got to love it! It's a round shouldered dreadnought like the Gibson J-45 but with a longer scale. Probably made in Korea or China.

Actually, right out of the box it sounded kind of lifeless, but I've played the hell out of it for a couple years now and it's really coming into it's own. I've had a lot of other musicians tell me what great tone this beast has and I can't tell it from my 1965 Martin D-28! It may actually be a little fatter and warmer. I was under the impression that laminate guitars wouldn't improve with age but this one has just blossomed into one of the best sounding guitars I've heard!

I bought this guitar as a "factory second" and all I've found is little, tiny red dye slop on the inside.

I use this to gig with all the time! It's my "go to" guitar. The only problem I had was one fret popped up and caused some buzzing but that's it and it was an easy fix. I've had a number of Epiphones in the past and they tend to acquire the "dreaded Gibson hump" in the neck eventually. But for the price I can just get another great sounding guitar

I bought it from Musicians Friend and there probably was a warranty, but I didn't use it. It's such an inexpensive guitar, I've just taken care of repairs myself. I suppose if I owned an expensive Gibson J-45 I would expect perfection, but for the popped fret I figured why be a dick about it (cost me like $25 to fix).

I own several vintage Martin guitars that I've gigged with for 25 years. Now that I'm gigging with this great sounding, durable Epiphone, it's a major load off my mind! If it gets stolen or busted up, I'll definitely buy another. It's a working musicians guitar.

I absolutley love this guitar. The sound is articulate and just plain beautiful. I have never played a gibson J-45 so i can't compare but for ??300 this to me is the 'bargain of the century' with the gibson being in excess of ??1,200. It has a warm tone but with incredible note detail. It dosen't have the boominess that most acoustics do which is fine for me. I can't critisise this guitar at all, for this price.

The action is perfect. Nice and low but still at a suitable height to use a slide with. The neck is the most comfortable i have played on an acoustic guitar. The finish is perfect. Lovely mahogany grain on the neck, back and sides. These korean made guitars are of excellent build quality.

This is a korean made acoustic so i am confident that the quality will hold up. I don't play acoustic live but i reckon it would sound great. Is is roadworthy? well, it is as fragile as any acoustic guitar. I have owned a few recently made epiphones and i have been 100% satisfied.

The warranty is one year and if there was to be any problems, my local guitar shop offers excellent support.

I have been playing for almost 8 years now. I own a few semi-acoustics and another acoustic (washburn). If this guitar was stolen i would first cry and then seek revenge. I would definetly buy another but unfortunatley these guitars are not in production being ltd edition custom shop. I would like an acoustic pickup but thats something i can fit myself if i need to. My favourite feature is the tuners. Little white button ones that are so smooth to use and they keep the guitar in tune very well. I love this guitar. I will keep it forever..even if i end up aquiring a gibson.

just a standard acoustic, it gets an extra point for being roundshouldered.
not such an accurate replica of a 1963 j45. it claims to have a 24.75" scale but is really 25.5" (if u dont know, that's length from nut to bridge, and this shorter scale is traditional on j45s and means shorter frets and slightly less tension for slightly more "buttery" tone.)

sound really nice i thought.
very strong tone, clear, projected well, good at both fingerpicking and strumming, the roundshould really makes it a versatile guitar.
only gripe here was that i felt the overtones were too aggressive. this was only apparent while fingerpicking, the overtones lingered too long and distracted you from the melody being played. i changed the saddle and the problem was fixed.

the best thing about it was the amazing vintage sunburst. it's really beautiful, and i spent lots of time just moving it around under the light to take it all in. so much better looking than any other sunburst ive seen on other guitars. a couple glue gobs on interior bracing. a little string sticking sometimes at the nut while tuning, but it's got a plastic nut.

certainly would withstand live playing. kept in tune as far as i remember. it's solid built w laminate sides and back, so it can probably take a beating.

if youre interested in a good round shoulder guitar under $500 this would be the one. i know epiphones got the masterbuilt ajs, but this one looks cooler.

Full "chunky" J-45 sound with low and mid range punch without being muddy (like many square shoulder dreadnoughts) Clear and articulate highs. Excellent for either flat-picking or finger-picking.

I received it with the action set a little high for my tastes but very playable. Flawlessly bookmatched top. No observable flaws in workmanship or materiela.

Just received the guitar so I cannot comment ofn it's durability.

If stolen I would replace it immediately.
It is an exact duplicate of the much Higher priced Gibson J45. In fact it actually has much better articulation than several J45s I have played recently.
I chose it as a low cost alternative to the Gibson J45 - but in all honesty I like it better than any new J45 I've played.
The overall sound compares very favorably with many (much, much higher priced dreadnoughts I have played over the years).
