Beautiful finish, although it is plywood.

Sound : 3
Acoustically it is great. Plugged in it sucks.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Nice action, Big box with a great finish.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Seems to be holding up very well.

The pickup system has two places to plug in to an amplifier. The main one works very well. The other, however has a lot of loud noise when plugged in and it goes through batteries like you would not believe. I contacted Gibson about the problem and they told me that the electronics were only warranted for a year, although the book that came with it says it has a 5 year warranty. The first year of this guitar was spent in a studio using only the acoustic sound. When I finally plugged it in for a live amplified session, I discovered the problem. I contacted Shadow-Electronics (the maker of the pickup system)several times through email woth absolutely no response. Because of the problem with this guitar, I will be wary about nuying another Gibson or Epiphone in the future. I will get this one repaired and then sell it. There are too many very good instruments out there made by companies that actually stand behind their products.

I have used Gibson and Epiphone guitars since 1952 and I have never had a proble. I still have my ES350T which I got in 1953, so I know these guitars very well. With my EJ200CE I am somewhat disappointed. The guitar itself is quite good. I love the feel and the acoustic sound. The pickup system is a different story. It has two places to plug in to an amplifier. The main one works very well. The other, however has a lot of loud noise when plugged in and it goes through batteries like you would not believe. I contacted Gibson about the problem and they told me that the electronics were only warranted for a year, although the book that came with it says it has a 5 year warranty. I've bought the Epiphone EJ200Ce made in indo for 415Euro
Nice body for this big superjumbo (hard to find a good tobago), great natural white color with some nice flours design on the top.
2 pickups with an esond system and a tuner
21 frets
great woods

Sound : 8
Nice rock ans contry sound unplegged, really deep...
Very good and rich plugged sound (especially with a Marshall)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
Really hard to play especially with the original strings, I can't play with it at all and when i try the sound is bad and i prefer use my classic

Good, central guitar Rue de Douai

I'll probably sell this one to buy an Ej 160 John Lennon but I advise all the great players who love country and old rock music to buy it...

It's difficult to rate the 'features' of such a simple acoustic guitar, perhaps 'features' as a review criteria is more appropriate to electric or electro-acoustic guiitars.
I have given a seven because generally I'm enjoying the EJ-200, but I'm disappointed that, for the price, it only has a plastic nut, plastic saddle and plastic bridge pins. The Grover machine heads are a plus. I could mark it down for not being a solid body, but if you do your research before buying a guitar, then you know what you'll be getting. (In other words if you decide to buy an EJ-200, you already know it's a laminate and you're cool with it.)

Sound : 8
Okay, I went from playing the small solid bodied Cort SF-5 to the EJ-200, so the difference in sound was always going to be big. I opted for a super-jumbo because the Cort had a relatively low volume, and I fancied something different. I'm also a big Dashboard Confessional fan, so I wanted something similar to the Gibsons Chris Carrabba plays. The EJ-200 does indeed have a big sound, and a good balance between the bass and treble notes. One thing I will say is that, so far, the EJ-200 definitely sounds like a laminate, but a good one - not cardboard box-y. I've only had it a week so I've not fully decided about the sound quality, although I know laminate sounds don't change over time like a solid body does.
Yesterday I tuned to DADDDD to play Screaming Infidelities and the EJ-200 really sang, so I was pleased.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action was a tad high further up the fretboard, but I'll sort this when I replace the saddle and bridge pins with bone ones. Otherwise, the EJ-200 played very well off the rack (Daswons, Chester)
I gave it a good looking over and couldn't find any imperfections in the shop, but of course when I got it home I noticed a little bit of sloppy work around the neck joint. (Do they have some sort of special light in guitar shops to hide these things?!)
Other than that, the sheen on this thing is amazing. I opted for the natural colour, it looks a bit more 'special' than the sunburst or ebony, in my opinion.
Gold machine heads are a bit dodgy, but suit the guitar overall. Gold strap pins seem to be very good quality.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I can't really say yet because I've only had it a week, but laminates tend to be harder than solid bodied guitars which are liable to denting and scratching, so it should be a tough guitar. It feels quite heavy and sturdy at the neck. I hope it lasts!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Gibson do the support for Epiphone products and they're apparently very decent, but hopefully I wont have to call them.
I have a year long warranty from Dawsons.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing for 10 or 11 years and this is only my fourth acoustic. It's a big change to go from a small bodied solid cedar/mahogany Cort to a laminate Super-jumbo Epiphone, and one which is impairing my objectivity in reviewing the EJ-200.
All I can say is so-far so-good, it plays very well, looks gorgeous and has the big sound I was after. I wish I'd hung on to my old Fender DG-5 dreadnought so I could compare the difference in volume.
It would be stupid of me to rate it any higher having only owned it a short while, but first impressions are everything.
There are some negative reviews of the EJ-200 here at HC, all I can say is go try one, as I did, before making your mind up.
If you like how it sounds and feels, go for it!

It looks great and there are enough features on this guitar !
The only thing i don't like about it is that it doesn't has 22 frets , like some semi-acoustic guitars do.

Sound : 9
A really rich warm sound , good for playing Country , rock & roll etc.
Picking sounds a bit less then chords though.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The finish is really nice , a nice top and there isn't one thing i can say that's not good about this point!

Reliability/Durability : 7
With a good amp , you can use it live !
It's a big guitar , so make sure you don't crash into something ;)
This guitar won't wear off fast , the strap buttons are good , not much to complain about!

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 9
I'm playing a few years now , and i love to play Johnny Cash , Elvis , and alot of other Country and Rock & Roll , and i have to say :
This guitar got the look and the sound for both styles !
I'm really glad with this one , good sound , and a real beauty.

Features : 9
gloss finish, spruce top, maple back and sides, cutaway, 2006 china made with dual pickups(pizeo/bridge, nanomag/neck)EQ with tuner

Sound : 8
acoustic sound is good, but a tad on the dull side (the guitar is heavily built and built to last) tone and response is even across all strings. plugged in the tone and response is very good and the output was constant sting to string (not always the case with undersaddle pickups in guitars of this price range) the nanomag pickup at the neck with the ability to split the signals is just icing on the cake. This guitar is a RHYTHM MACHINE!!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Recieved the guitar thur mailorder and crossed my fingers. Workmanship, action, intonation, finish, ect. were all first rate!

Reliability/Durability : 10
Owned the guitar for one year without an issue. the guitar is built a little on the heavy side, but that can be a good thing, when combined with the price it makes for a gig worthy guitar that's built for the road. Well cared for I expect this to out last my 16 year old son.

I've been playing for 35 years and build and repair guitars as a hobby. I own 30+ guitars(gibson, fender, epiphone ect.) in addition to the ones i've built. I bought this guitar for my 16 year old son for christmas and it has become his most prized possession. He really liked playing my gibson custom j-100 extra and knew that I still played and prized the epiphone's that I've had for over 30 years so he thought that was a good place to start. In time I will change the saddle and the nut to improve tone and sustain. Maybe I got lucky but $400.00 for this guitar with these features is a good soild value (if it wasn't I would not have waited a year to submit a review) If it were stolen I'm sure he would replace it. If he knew WHO took if I'm sure he would replace it when he got out of prision

I dont know much abot this guitar. but I believe its from 1995. idk if all the specs are the same as now. the body style is jumbo. I am not sure about the tuners, but they are gold (faded gold no haha) and resemble grover tuners. neck is fatish I guess. the case was included when I bought it (used). it has 20 frets. I think this is all laminate, I am not sure since its more than 10 years old, I cannot get any info on it. it has electronics, I believe it has some pre amp it says "epiphone V"..it doesnt have a tuner but it does have an eq.

Sound : 8
I am not comparing this guitar to something that costs even more than 200. I paid around 150ish, so I would compare to guitars in that range. I think it is good for fingerstyle and tapping. I think its good for rhythm and lead. I like the sound, its pretty bright.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
the action could be lower. but atleast it helps my fingers get stronger, hah. the guitar had some flaws it had some cracks on the end of the neck and on the headstock. but for the price I didnt care...

Reliability/Durability : 8
I havent taken this guitar to many places except to church and school. the hardwear seems like it will last some time....the strap buttons are pretty good right now. I can depend on it. I would probably use it for a gig if I had to...

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 8
I have been playing close to 3 years if not 3. I wish the guitar cable imput was on the button itself...I would replace it with one around the same year, but I dont like the new headstocks...I love the look most of all. I dont like the cracks on the guitar, haa.

This is what the advert says:
Technical Info
Pickups: Piezo/Shadow P-4
Hardware: Gold
Scale: 25.5 in.
Nut Width: 1.68 in.
Neck: Set
Neck Material: Maple
Fingerboard/Inlay: Rosewood/Crown
Body Material: Mahogany
Top: Select Spruce

Although the advert sounds good for the money, it is really badly put together. I guess I can't give it a bad score for features but I can downgrade the score due to quality issues.

One thing you can say - it looks great!

Sound : 1
What the advert won't tell you is that the pickups are really noisy and you get a horrible banging whenever your hand brushes against the bridge. It feeds back really easily and it is almost impossible to get a nice tone out of it. When it isn't plugged in, the sound is not very good either. The sound is thin, dull and totally uninspiring. When you can get a great sounding guitar from several different manufacturers for the same money nowadays, you would have to ask yourself why buy this guitar?

Action, Fit, & Finish : 2
The action, fit and finish are as bad as the sound! It really hurts to play and don't even attempt to use a capo and stay even remotely in tune. Bits rattle too.

I have played worse acoustics but given the recent progress in budget acoustic guitars, I am surprised that this is as bad as it is.

Reliability/Durability : 1
The other guitarist in my band has this guitar and there are forever problems with it. I know he regrets buying it and it won't last long. You need to re-fasten the strap buttons all the time. Wires keep coming loose and it is quite simply falling apart - and it's less than a year old!

Customer Support : No Opinion
I can't possibly comment on this aspect as it's not my guitar.

Overall Rating : 1
I've been playing for 20 years and this is one of the worst guitars I have ever played. I have played numerous guitars over the years including lots of epiphones (I own a lovely Sheraton) and I would strongly advise anyone against this guitar. There are better guitars available for the same or less money.

All I can say is that this guitar lures you in with its looks. However, playability and sound should never be forgotten. I guess most people buy this guitar over the internet because I can't see why you would buy it if you played and heard it.
