Mahogany body, solid spruce top, precision rosewood fretboard w/ parrallelogram inlays, rosewood bridge, very nice sunburst finish, grover tuner (quality is okay?), unique pickguard, plastic nut, saddle, bridge pins, okay set up.

Sound : 8
The stock sound quality of this guitar is okay for a beginner and the playability is very highly regarded but a simple upgrade of the nut, saddle, and bridge pins is highly reccommended, and really brings out the sustain, volume, and tone of this instrument. With these uprades the hummingbird has excellent mids and highs that seem to resonate very well. The bass response is on the average side but seems to increase with age. I suggest that even though the action can be lowered as much as an electric, that you not do that as it impears the tone. Keep the action at about 95 (as meased from the 12th fret) on the bass side and 60-65 on the treble side. this will keep the frets from buzzing and the tones very 3 dimensional also make sure there is about .020" relief in the neck so it can produce the right amount of tone without being restricted. The instrument is very sensitive to these subtle adjustments( I have experimented a great deal). Goodle luck and don't judge this animal until it is adjusted properly, it makes a world of difference

See above suggestions.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Very reliable, built like a tank

People who suggest this is just like its Gibson sister are definately not talking about a current Gibson Hummingbird (but perhaps models from the past). Acoustic guitars are each different but the 2000 dollar difference does speak to the general differences between the instruments. If you play the Gibson (if you are a well versed musician) you will notice a vibrant difference in the quality of the tone and also the projection, fretboard precision, and detail of the oppointments though I have noticed that epiphones set ups are usually better than Gibsons for some reason. Remember solid wood = huge difference in cost, though perhaps not $2000

Features : 9
dreadnought body style, 21 frets, hummingbird pickguard, fairly thin neck for a 12 string
the serial number dates this guitar to april of 2006, made in china
if you have ever played a standard epiphone hummingbird, the look feel and setup are identical, just more strings

Sound : 9
for my style of music, which is a combination of classic rock and country, this guitar suits me very well, it has a bright sound but not so much that it sounds tinny, it can also be played so that it has a deeper sound. for the price range of this guitar probably the best sounding i have ever played, it still does not compare to a rickenbacker or an older guild but a very good sounding guitar

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
i received this guitar second hand but it was still unplayed in the factory shipping box. The action is very light, especially for a twelve string. everything seems well set up from the factory as of yet i have not found any flaws

Reliability/Durability : 7
The guitar seems very light which bothers me, but other than that all of the hardware and woodwork seems like it will hold together well over the years. The finish seems thich and it seems that it will last however because of this it likely loses some sound quality, i dont know that i would gig it without a backup because generally i only have one or two songs that require a twelve string but if i were only playing songs in that category i probably would

Customer Support : No Opinion
have never dealt with epiphone personally

Overall Rating : 8
i have been playing about 5 years now and own a large amount of guitars fender tele, martin OM-18, gibson V
if i were to lose this guitar I would buy another... if i could find one...they are apparently pretty hard to find... i love the tonal quality and action, probably the thing that worries me most is the durability. it would also be good if had a pickup of some kind
one of the best twelve strings ive played for under $1000

Classic dreadnought guitar, faithful reproduction of the Gibson model in cherry sunburst with "hummingbird" pickguard; This 12 string model is a ltd. edition from Epiphone.

Chrome hardware featuring Grover tuners. 21 frets, mahogany neck e body, rosewood fingerboard and solid spruce top.

Don't know if it's made in china or korea. From the serial number I understand it's made in april 2006. I bought it with the original hard case.

Sound : 9
I'm very indeed the 12 string style: comparing this to the many others I find it has the most acoustically sound of all. It's brilliant and jinglin' like a 12 string must be, but it's also has a deep and powerful wood tone.

I'm thinkin' to electrify it: usually I prefer magnetic pickup to transducer, but I think that maybe this one has to play only with a microphone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Action was perfet when I bought it, the guitar never had another set-up.

I usually replace nut and saddle with bone on those acoustic guitars, but this one does'nt need it.

Reliability/Durability : 8
the weight of the guitar is very light: I suspect this is not a good sign, and the painting seems to be heavy; but anyway the instrument is clean, and the hardware is solid.

I took this one just because I'm reluctant to gig with my vintage guitars. I commonly use it without any spare.

I play since I was 8, but I REALLY play only since 6 years. I'm very passionate of 12 string guitars, I also use a Rickenbacker 330/12 and I have a few of vintage electrified Eko Ranger 12, almost all the models of the Italy era (from '62 to '83). I love 'em but I must say that this Epiphone Hummingbird is a lot more comfortable to play!
The neck is round and not etremely large, and I don't mind too much if it gets broken because it's an actual production!
