I bought this at a pawn shop, $160, got lucky. The zero fret is an absolute must, will never buy a 12-string without it. This guitar was made around 1970, it is vastly better than the new ones, I bought a 2002 model and it is junk, nothing good about it except the case. The 70's model has very fine grained spruce in the top, better than my '72 Hummingbird, and a thin neck for a 12-string, absolutely straight. Like I say, got lucky, the thing tunes great and holds it (standard tuning-D'Addario x-lights). The neck is bolted on. Had to file the bridge just abit, not enough adjustment, now action is superb. The sound is very loud, bright and balanced. Hate to admit it, but except for the big Guilds and custom Bozho, this is the best sounding 12-string I've ever played. If you are looking for a used 12-string, be very careful, 19 out of 20 have problems, but I would recommend a clean old zero-fret Epiphone if you can find one.

This 12 string Texan was made in the early 1980s Japan is is a full size dreadnaught solid top spruce with rose wood sides and back. I bought it in a pawn shop for 140.00 It had a small crack on the front where the side joins the top. I repaired this with wood glue and clamps. The instrument is a joy to play once I lowered the action. Rich, loud, lots of sound comming from this box, with great tone. The neck is affixed by a screw on neck, and neck plate. The action can be lowered by making a new bridge out of bone and shimming the neck, ever so slightly. The bridge is tuneomatic style, This is a great instrument of high quality and i would recommend it to anyone.

Outstanding sound. Lots of sustain and volume with huge bottom end.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
I had to tweak the action for sometime, trial and error until i got the strings just right. very low with no buzz. I had to screw around with the truss rod, make a new bridge, and i slightly shimmed the neck. The action as I bought it was way to high, and required way to much hand strength to fret.

Reliability/Durability : 5
This guitar is tuff, but I wouldnt want to bang it around, The bolt on neck isnt the most durable set up, and with 12 strings of tension it wouldnt take much to break it there.

Ive been playin for about 15 years, I enjoy this ax very much. If it were stolen or lost I would be hard pressed to replace it. For any price. I love the sound this ax makes, it has a soul. I wish it had a internal pick up. If you have the opportunity to find one and the price is right.. GRAB IT.

My name is Rob Lindbeck,i mainly play rock, metal, classical, and fingerstyle music and this is one LOUDASS acoustic.Very close to a $1,500 Martin in tone.I got it at Cheapers in Erie PA back in '95 for $25 because it needed tuners and a bridge, but no problem,i had the parts, slapped em in and got down to business.I also own an Ovation and a Martin 000-18 .
