Jumbo cutaway body style with Shadow pick up and pre-amp. Solid spruce top (Engelmann I think) solid Indian rosewood back and sides. Mahogany neck. High gloss finish all over. Came with fitted case. I am delightd and amazed to get a guitar of this spec and quality at this price. Machines are gold plated, Gotoh I think, with hardwood buttons. Again amazing spec for a guitar at this price. Case is good enough. Well padded, four catches, plywood shell covered with brown vinyl - too good to justify buying an abs case unless I was going to do some serious touring.
Sound

The sound is loud, with good sustain, and quite warm and sweet, tending towards middle and bass. It has that character of a rosewood backed guitar - that slight 'kick' at the beginnng of the note. The tone is also reasonably bright for a big guitar. For a guitar at this price, the sound is astonishingly good. I play fingerstyle, with occasional precision flatpicking. I never strum. This guitar works beautifully for my style. You have to work it harder than a grand concert guitar, and it responds with good volume and tone. It responds brilliantly to dropped tunings. The neck doesn't shift, the tuners are smooth, and the nut must be good, because it took me seconds to retune between songs.
Plugged in it works well. However, I can't see the point of the EQ shape button on the Shadow pre-amp controls. It boosts the bass and treble, which is usually a trick used to make electric guitars sound more acoustic. On this guitar it is better left switched off. The treble and bass controls work OK, as does the phase changer. A movable notch filter would have been great, but can't grumble at this price. The sound might warm up to a 10! It needs playing in. There is plenty of wood in the top, which means it will continue to get better, probably long after I am not around.

Finish and setup immaculate. Been playing it for three weeks and found no flaws. Plays in tune right past the 12th fret. You can play a chord right up there and the fretted strings are right in tune with the open ones. I am toying with the idea of taking up to a millimeter out of the bridge saddle, as I don't need the string clearance that a heavier picker needs. I think the sustain would be even better, at the cost of a little volume.

I have performed with this guitar, and see no reason why it won't give me years of reliable service.

I believe the guitars are made in Indonesia, but the company is part of the Patrick James Eggle group in this country. Havent needed to ask for help.

I have been playing for 40 years, mainly folk. I have other nice acoustics, including a 1970 Levin Goliath, but I think this will be my favourite performance guitar. A big sound played fingerstyle, and the ability to plug in. The current market for acoustics is wonderful and there are other guitars I would consider if this one were lost. However, if they stayed at this price, I would buy the same again. I think they will probably move up the cost ladder, so catch one early!
