Features : No Opinion

Sound : 6
It makes quite a lot of buzz, i would keep it for playing at home and not gigging with. But for the price I honestly think its fine.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
It looks smart and despite having it for four years the strings didnt break once. I decided to alter them to get a better sound as the strings went rusty from too much playing!

Reliability/Durability : 7
The neck has scratched quite a bit with the finger marking coming off, but it really hasnt made a difference as the body is good as new.

I got this guitar as a present when I had never played guitar before. I know many people say it's too tough to play for beginners, but I liked it because it made my fingers harder and more ready to play on better guitars. If you want to play guitar you should stick at it whether the guitar is hard to play or not.
Its a basic guitar at a cheap price and what you see is what you get. I think it looks great and has stood the test of time. I hate the low E string, it always sounds awful, that is my only criticism!

Well I have the red one. It is a standard dreadnought, with fret markings as normal, and a plectrum scratch board thing. Nothing special about the features.

Sound : 8
The sound is fairly full, and it has a good bass for a guitar in this price area.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion

Reliability/Durability : 5
When I played the twin of this in the shop, I thought I was going to snap the top string, as it was so loose. Also, I was very afraid when tuning it that the b and g strings would break. I would not use this at a gig; just in the house, playing at parties.

Customer Support : 8
Never used it as I bought the guitar today, but it does come with 1 year guarantee.

Overall Rating : 6
This is by far the cheapest guitar I have. I only bought this as I have moved to uni, and didn't want my nice guitars getting broken. This guitar I wouldn't mind getting damaged. This was the cheapest guitar in the shop, and that was the main reason for buying it. There was a good selection of colours though (I think red, blue, black and natural). This would make a good first guitar for someone with strength, as the action is pretty hard.

Falcon FG100R gloss red bought from Ebay ??16 year and half ago. Martin strings fitted:

Sound : 5
Loud, lots of fret buzz if your fingers are not strong, due to high action. Not a gentle/sweet sound such as a takamine or martin.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
Action very high..you need some concentration to get this to play without buzzing. Tuners do the job but no frills. Needs re-tuning frequently especially the thin strings. A few marks when bought , but for ??16 whos bothered.

Reliability/Durability : 4
Not a gig guitar, a guitar to play in the garden at a BBQ when you have had a few, and so has everyone else.

I bought this with no real knowledge, as it was cheap. Been working with it for almost two years. Fingers know they have been playing it, but now when I concentrate I can get it to play reasonably. So I figure if I can play this, I can play anything. Now looking at takamine/fenders around ??300 for upgrade:

Buttons still on, no issues:

Customer Support : No Opinion
n/a never used...why would you..if it breaks throw it away....

Overall Rating : 5
Cheap, cheerful, dont expect it to make a quality sound. Not worth spending money on. It helped to get me going on the basics which is what its job was, and it has done that:
Got my ??16 quids worth:

Well it's made in China as the shiny gold sticker says. It's a 20 fret medium sized neck. It's a dreadnought/western with a glorious tobacco sunburst finish. I'm not sure what type of wood it's made of, but the neck is very solid and fixed extremely firmly to the body. The wood shines through nicely in the light with some light knots in the wood which add abit of character. No accessories included except the standard poor quality pick. There is no glue run off around the neck or bridge.

Sound : 8
As a beginner I'm not too experienced with the different sounds. However, I can say that I've found the sound quite deep. It's a very full sound that packs quite a punch.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The factory set up was poor, but every guitar player would expect a guitar to need some tuning when it's new surely? All of the frets are the same, no problems there, and the tuning pegs are nice and firm.

Reliability/Durability : 10
A good guitar player would be able to play this guitar live well and consitantly. This guitar is tough. Everything about it is firm. Even the strings that come with it are tough and have yet to break. I've rated it 10 for Rock Solid, however as with most things this is within reason, don't go smashing it on table corners or it will break obviously.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I don't know because I haven't had to contact them, but it came with a one year warrantly I do believe.

I am a newbie and this is my first guitar so it will always have a place in my heart :) That said, I do understand that it's a very low budget guitar, but you get what you pay for, and in my opinion, I got this baby for #22 (about $40) and it's a crazy good deal for that money, in the shops it's about #60 and for about #40 more you can get a better one, the issue is you may not have more money.

If you don't have much money to spend and want a good solid model, then this guitar gets my recommendation. It certainly looks the part, as I said earlier the finish and colouring of the sunburst is very cool! And it just looks quite classy with the gloss black pick guard. The only thing that lets down the appearance is the poor Flacon logo on the head stock.

It's a reliable old girl that I have learnt alot on in a short period of time and I'd like to think even after I've have progressed to different guitars I will come back to play her over and over. She hurts my fingers but I love her :)

I've read the other review on the Falcon dreadnought, and thought I'd give my opinion. I am only a beginner to the guitar, and some of the other reviewer's comments have made me think ahh, maybe I made a wrong choice then, more on that later...

My Falcon was made in China. the sticker that declared that was torn off immediately. 21 frets, and I have no clue about what wood was used to make it. its got a flame finish, which is starting to peel away in some places now. The action is high, with far spaced apart frets.

Sound : 10
I love the sound. I have no problem whatsoever with that. it's loud and clear.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The action is incredibly high. so high that I still can't barre, and I've been learning for 7 months now. I can barre using my electric guitar whose action is lower. That action is way too high for beginners. as I said at the start, I can see where the other reviewer is coming from now, saying this is a hard guitar for a beginner to play. It had no flaws, and I must say how much I like the factory fitted strings. They still sound good after been on all that time, and the guitar only need minor tweaking now and again to get in perfect tune.

Reliability/Durability : 5
Ho ho ho, I don't think I'd play this live. it's too big and bulky. the fretboard is soft, and has indents from my finger nails already. I do think it'll last for some years though.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I think the warranty is 1 year. Have not had to interact with customer support.

Overall Rating : 6
I wish I'd have really taken my time when choosing a first guitar, and purchased something smaller. I had absolutely no idea about what was on the market at the time. this guitar is well priced and does sound good, but it is so hard for a beginner, especially female beginners like myself. adult male beginner's might find it okay, but with smaller hands and less finger strength its hard to play. that action! I do like it though, and enjoy playing it. I like it cos it's the 1st guitar I bought, and I have learnt so, so much with it (apart from barring of course). for 1st buyers I'd definately recommend getting something smaller, with lower action.

Your standard features of a dreanought style acoustic, i.e wooden box, neck, and strings, in that sense i suppose it has everything you need. This is the sort of guitar that is advertised as "100% wood" and "steel reiforced neck" as though that is an impressive feat of engineering. I wouldn't be able to say what the "wood" actually is, probably plywood or something. I bought this guitar very suddenly as i needed a very cheap acoustic that i wouldn't care about getting scratched up, and could go with me on my travels.

Sound : 5
Hmm, well with acoustics a lot of the sound depends on what strings you use. This sounds like what it is, a cheap acoustic guitar, still i have used it on some 4 track recordings and it can sound quite good. If you can get it in tune it can sound acceptable. Beginners probably won't care or know the differance, expeienced acoustic conisuers will find it horrible, however it fitted the purpose i wanted it to. If you wear it in it gets (a bit) better.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
Oh dear. As a general rule i avoid anything claiming to be a guitar that emerges from the jhs factory. This was literally unplayable when i bought it, the action was impossible, the frets were coated in some sort of plastic seal or varnish, which came off as you play, i just took a penknife to it to get the stuff off. As always the factory strings/setup was awful, it requires some time to get a playable result, lowering the bridge strip etc.. The fretboard appears to be made of some painted wood or something, the type you build fences with, this means string bends make a very scratchy noise.

Reliability/Durability : 2
First of all, it has actually withstood quite a lot and is alive to this day. However it seems to make some very undesirable creaking noises when it gets tuned, which is often because the machine heads are pretty bad, i would change them but i see throwing money at this guitar a waste as i have other guitars which require my attention. The 'finish' around the fretboard just flakes off, having said that the actual construction itself is relatively solid.

Customer Support : 1
JHS JHS JHS! Horrible nasty evil exploitive company, who make shit instruments and flog them to beginners who don't know the differance, and then give up playing because they find it to difficult to play. This guitar is aimed at beginners, but i wouldn't give one to a beginner if you paid me. The only reason i can get acceptable results out of this is because i have the finger strength to do so, for a beginner this is a nightmare.

Overall Rating : 3
Ok it's fair to mention the price, however for just a bit more you can find some very good guitars, lightyears away from this, plus if you look at second hand guitars you can find some good bargains. All in all don't buy one. I had 1/2 an hour and #60 to go find an acoustic before a trip, this was the result. with some tlc it can play (just) and sound moderate, and despite it's massive flaws i do use it fairly regularly, i wouldn't sell it because its worth more to me as it is, and besides i wouldn't get anything for it anyway, if it got lost or stolen i would be slightly pleased because it would stop haunting me, although then i would be quite sad because we do sometimes we get on quite well together. Please don't buy one unless you were in a similar situation to me.
