I have been playing almost ten years and own an array of insterments. if it were stolen I would probly upgrade to a better guitar BUT this thing is a work horse. it plays well and hasent let me down . i love the black finish cause it looks stylish, i hate the black finish cause after 4 years of jamming , the pick strokes have started to wear down on the finish...aww well it adds character. good guitar.

Mine was made in Korea acording to the label inside the sound hole. Black finish, rosewood neck with normal fret markings. I was poor so for the money,, I couldn't ask for much more.

Sound : 7
I noticed right off the bat for the price this was a great all around little cheapo guitar. I play a lot of funky acoustic stuff so the sound variation was pretty good because of all of the muting I do. On just regular chording,, it sounds kind of light not as full as a Martin,, if I had wanted that I guess I should have bought a Martin.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The action was as close to perfect as you can get out of the box. I have however over the last four years modified the saddle a little bit to make the action a little bit lower. The intonation is flawless and for a cheap acoustic that is worth its weight in gold. The finish was just glossy black and didn't have anything wrong with it when it was purchased but over a few years of drunken gigs and good times,, it is now a little iffy.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This little guitar is a very rugged little champ. I have beaten the hell out of this guitar and it has stood up better than I ever expected. The hardware has never been changed and it still does the job. I would trust this thing solo with no backup any night.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never delt with the company but I have never had to. If there was a warranty,, its useless now.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing off and on for about 8 years now and I've never owned any other acoustic. I have all Fender electrics and their performances are incredible as well. I chose this guitar because it was cheap, I was broke, and I hadn't been playing for about a 6 month stretch so I was jonesing for a fix. I have been very pleased with my purchase and haven't purchased another acoustic yet.

Dreadnought 6 string with spruce top, mahogany back, sides, and neck with snowflake inlays on the rosewood fretboard.

Sound : 10
I love the sound. It has a very balanced, full, rich tone that only keeps getting better with age.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The finish is a beautiful black that has not lost a bit of shine since I got it in 98. Right out of the box the action and tunation were right on. The action is low with no buzz. The frets are smooth and well finished. Every joint on it is tight with no gaps.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Solid as a rock! no problems yet in 5 years. When I put on a new set of strings and tune up I don't have to tune again untill it's time for another set of strings. I check and it is always right on. I play this thing every day and the way it holds up I'll still be playing it forty years from now.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Have never needed them.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall everything about this guitar is great and I would recomend it for anyone from student to pro in the studio.

Features : 8
6-String Dreadnought Acoustic, Solid Spruce Top, Mohogany Back and Sides, Mahogany Neck, Chrome Diecast Tuners, Snowflake Markers, Rosewood A-grade Fingerboard, 20 Frets (not a cutaway though, so access to the higher frets is virtually nonexistent), Scale Length: 25.3" (643 mm), Width @ Nut: 1.69" (43mm), Natural Gloss Finish

I purchased all of my accessories separately, so this was for the guitar, a warranty registration card and an allen key for truss rod adjustment.

Sound : 10
I'm no expert at playing - this is my first guitar, purchased about 6 weeks ago. I'm not stupid though - some of my friends have some very expensive, very nice, beautiful-sounding Taylors, Gibsons, etc. While my new baby doesn't compare to these $2000+ axes, it does sound better than every other $400-list price guitar I've heard. The sound is very well balanced, very full (a bit on the bright side now because I happen to be trying out some different, lighter, strings). It's great for what I'm playing right now - mostly rhythm guitar for worship & christian rock (third day, sixpence none the richer, waterdeep). Considering I paid $170, I am thrilled beyond belief (and relieved since I purchased it online).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The finish on this Fender is as good as any mass-produced guitar I've seen - a very natural wood tone, not too glossy finish, and (for what it's worth) very nice looking fretboard markers. =) The first words out of everybody's mouth are frequently comments about how great it looks (the next words are usually about how nice it sounds). I can't make any bold claims about the action, only because I don't have much experience playing other guitars (listening, yes, playing, no), but it was very easy for me to get used to - after just about 2 or 3 days I was able to play for several hours at a time (15 minute stints that first night). No fret buzzing unless i get too wild on my attack with the pick, and nobody else who plays this guitar has this problem so it's me and not the guitar I s'pose. No physical flaws when it was new out of the box...

Reliability/Durability : 8
Live playing? Well yeah I guess it would 'survive', but not having any on-board electronics does limit the roles it could play for most people. Not an issue for me because 1) I'm not playing live for any large groups and (2) if I did, I'd be playing with other acoustic/rhythm guitarists indoors, so I'd be fine. Reliability is hard to judge, but it *is* a Fender, after all (ok, maybe a Samick with a pretty Fender logo). The axe certainly feels solid enough, and I will definitely take good care. The (only) strap button was a little loose the other day - I'd never noticed because I haven't had a strap on yet, but it may have been that way out of the factory.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have had (thankfully) no need to deal with Fender...the CS folks at zzounds.com were very helpful, though...

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Like I said, this is my first guitar, I've been playing now for about 6 or 7 weeks...if it were stolen, I would not hesitate to buy another, although I would likely not buy on-line again (I'd like to be able to hear the sound of the guitar to make sure it was comparable, now that I know what level it's possible to get!). The beautifully rich, full sound suits my playing style perfectly, the only complaint is a lack of a pickup, but it wasn't worth the extra money at the time. What other gear do I have...SKB deluxe hardshell case, Kyser quick-change capo, guitar strap, fender digital chromatic tuner, assortment of dunlop picks...what else you want to know? ;)

It's a sexy guitar, the DG-16 is. Nice glossy black finish with diecast chrome pegs, a nice white frill around the outside, and those awesome snowflake markers (the coolest I've seen yet). 20 fret solid-spruce-top, with a mohogany neck and back. It's really nice lookin'. You've gotta take that into account when you're buying a guitar for home and personal use. Who needs an ugly guitar, right?

Sound : 10
The style of music I play and listen to is punk (playing for 3 years now), which as we all know can't be played on an acoustic guitar (it should be illegal). For the times I do use it around the house to play some of the classic oldies, it sounds really, really nice. Not too bassy, not unbearably trebby, just a nice bright, full sound. Plus, it stays in tune forever. In the last 2 months I've only had to tune this bad mother three twice. I am yet to find a guitar that plays and sounds better than this one, regardless of pricing.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The only complaint I have about this guitar really was that when I first bought it, the action was really horrible. The D, A, and low E strings buzzed horribly if hit with much force. I brought it right back to Steve's and they fixed it up all pretty again, so it was all good in the end. Now it plays amazing.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've had this guitar for a helli-long time and I swear it looks just as great as the day I bought it, which says a lot considering what it's been through. It was taken on a 30 hour road trip from dry, freezing cold Canadian weather in a freezing cold car to humid, warm and sunny North Carolina beach weather, where the car obviously greatly increased in temperature. It was in the back of this car the entire time, being bumped around knocked around the whole time. It totally dealt with the weather and didn't even detune! Now THAT is amazing, considering that it should have inevitably expanded, what with the increase in heat AND humidity. All that plus there isn't even a dent on it.

Customer Support : 10
3 years of no-questions-asked free repairs. Does it get much sweeter than that?

Overall Rating : 10
This is a shweet guitar, playing much better than many of the higher-end ones I've played. And considering the price, it's WELL worth it. Thank you Fender.

You don't really get features with acoustic's but it has the most awesome finish. I fell in love with the look of it. It came with a dean markley pick up and plays nice through pa's with a mike in front.

Sound : 8
I play acoustic in a 4 piece band(elec.acoustic bass and drum) at small clubs and it fits perfect not to deep but not to trebbley. I use a microphone in front of it insteand of an amp with a added pickup because i think you get better sound with the pa.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Beutiful finish the snowflake inlays are cool to. Action doesnt matter cause you can always fix that yourself.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I use it in clubs fine but i wouldnt use it in a big show or nothin. i think it's meant to be a studio guitar but its a fender so it'll last.

Customer Support : 10
Fender really takes care of its customers.

Great guitar i love it awesome finish good sound what elese is there.

Mine is a 99 korea DG-16BLK. It is a standard 23 fret dreadnought guitar. It has a spruce top and mahogany sides with a gloss black finish, ivory binding, rosewood finger board and bridge. This is a low end guitar and reason for my purchase was to have an inexpensive guitar to take camping rather than pack one of my Martin guitars.

Sound : 8
This is a reletivly quiet guitar due to the heavy finish. It dose produce some sweet highs but not alot of bass and sounds best when picked rather than strummed. I do like the sound of this guitar and it has improved some in the year that I have had it and of course can only get better with age.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action and fit was suprisingly just right for me. The finish is beautiful and the ivory trim really makes this guitar stand out among the rest of my colection.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is rock solid. Mine goes camping all the time in the warmer months and has had to withstand extreme temperatures and I have yet to find any damage to this guitar. The harware is average in design but stay in tune even when bumped around and passed around the campfire. I plan to have this guitar for several years it is solid all the way around.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have had no need to deal with Fender so I have no opinion.

Overall Rating : 9
I have played the guitar for nearly ten years and have owned a number of diferent guitars. If this guitar was stolen or lost I would most defently replace it. It is rock solid and dose exactly what I wanted it to. I don't recomend this guitar for preforming for large crowds but as a travel companion and camping buddy. It will take the bumps and thumps and still hold a tune.

Mine was made in Korea according to the label inside. Spruce top, beautiful mahogany back, sides, and neck. Grade A rosewood fretboard (20 frets), with snowflake markers. Fender chrome diecast tuners and a real nice gloss finish. The finish on this guitar is what initially drew me to it. The mahogany back and sides give it such a distinct look (compared to the other Fenders I saw). This guitar is pretty plain other than the finish and the fret markers. Compared to the more pricey acoustics that were there the DG-16 paled in comparson- but hey it's the first guitar I've bought, but not the first I've played. This guitar is an exponential upgrade over the Hohner I was learning on. In short you get what you pay for.

Sound : 8
This baby suits what I like to play just fine. I use Martin Marquis strings on it and the sound is ultra bright. For my taste, it is lacking a real bass sound, but for the deal I got on the guitar I can't really ask for much more. It seems to project pretty well too- although I'm no expert.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
Couple of minor abberations on the guitar when I first got it. The low E string used to buzz like crazy if I strummed it with any zest. I took it back to the dealer and they adjusted the bridge and neck slightly and now it plays great. The action is pretty good right now but not the best I've seen- my old Hohner was better. Otherwise it is constructed real well from what I can see. Oh yeah, the peg for the strap at the bottom of the guitar falls out occasionally...

Reliability/Durability : 9
Since I'm just a beginner (only playing about a year) I don't play in any live situations just yet. I don't know how well it would do. The way I look at it is this is a great first guitar that has some cool features you would find on more expensive models. I got a good deal on it otherwise I would have gone with a DG-11 or -08. The finish is real good. I've dinged the guitar into walls several times and it doesn't have a single mark on it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Have no idea, but I've heard bad things about Fender's customer support. Besides I don't forsee any real problems.

Overall Rating : 9
Hey for it's value this guitar seems fantastic to me. The only thing wrong was the inital action which was promtly corrected. I've been banging on it for almost a year now and it hasn't given me one problem since I got it adjusted. If it were stolen or lost I would be upset because this is my first child but I think I would invest in a Martin, or Gibson now rather than buy this guitar again. I love the way it looks and the sound is really good too. It could do with some better tuners but they do the job. I bought this guitar because it was a Fender and I was wooed by the name as well as the sound (and of course the sale price). Like I said before- you get what you paid for. If you don't expect the world from it you'll be happy with it. Remember it is only a $300 guitar.
