1998 model. I bought this as my first ever guitar - knowing nothing about guitars at the time. Solid spruce top, flame maple back and sides, maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. It's a dreadnought body, no cutaways, 20 frets - just bog standard. Gold hardware which is really nice - the tuning machines are Fenders own, sealed and lubed - really nice smooth action.
The guitar is finished in a really nice high-gloss cherry finish and looks great. Not everyone's cut of tea - but it just spoke to me when I walked through the shop door and I had to have it.
All in all, it's a standard mid range acoustic guitar. But it is built like a tank, has taken many knocks without a scratch. It also holds its tune IMMACULATELY.
I owuld rate this higher than a 5 for features - but hey - how many features ARE there on an acoustic guitar ?

This guitar sounds great. All my guitar playing friends pick it up and go "Oh right - a Fender acoustic(sneer)", then they play it, do a double take, play it again and say "I really didn't know these were this good". Having said that, it's what I would imagine a "Fender" acoustic tone would be like anyway - delicate it ain't. It's a real ballsy, bluesy acoustic guitar - plenty of treble and mid and a good hard bass. Really nice if you want a great unplugged rock sound. Definitely NOT a folk guitar however. It loves a good thrashing too and just sings better the more you spank it. (Kind of like an ex-girlfirend of mine - but that's another story)

The stock action is superb. I took it into a guitar store the other day to enquire about a set-up - and the guitar tech played it a bit and said it was one of the best set-up acoustics he'd ever seen. I really can't judge it as it's the only guitar I have and the action isn't as slack as friends electrics. I can say that it is really easy to play however - and several people have commented on the action being superb.
On the finish side - again it is superb. The solid maple back, sides and top look gorgeous - some nice figuring under the cherry gloss. The spruce top look sgreat too. Nice high gloss finish that seems to be almost impossible to scratch.

As for live playing - ask me again next year. You can beat the hell out of this guitar and it just shrugs it off. Drop it on the floor - no problem. It doesn't even go out of tune. The gold hardware looks and feels great. This guitar is built to last.
The only complaint I have here is that there was only one strap button fitted. I will probably get another one put one at some point. Otherwise this would get a 10

Well - I bought this as my first guitar. Reduced from #369 UKP to #229 UKP including a gig bag, spare strings etc......
I love this guitar - and even tho the shop have told me they will give me the full purchase price back if I want to upgrade - I just won't part with it.
At this pric e- I would buy another the same - although if it got stolen, I would probably buy a more upmarket model as a replacement. HOWEVER - as my first guitar, I have nothing but praise for this instrument.
