Features : 7
The DG-7 is a Fender accoustic. It has a laminated top. Rosewood fretboard. Glossy finish, which tends to scratch and chip easily. Barely bump the thing and the finish comes off. It has a 3/4 fretboard, which is nice because I have small hands, but makes it hard to play some things because the strings are too close together. It has chrome tuners that still look nice. This guitar did not come with any sort of accessories, but I believe the DG-8 comes with a combo assortment. One of my friends has a DG-8, it's a nicer guitar. It didn't really have "features," it's an accoustic. I had to buy a strap too, I got tired of only playing it sitting down

Sound : 6
It has a pretty good sound when playing with a pick and sounds really cool when I play it outside. The tone is better when just strumming with your hand. The sound isn't too great when finger-picking, which is a point that disappointed me. I really like to finger-pick, but I can't hear it on this guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
The action on this guitar is great. Not so low that the strings buzz, but not to high that you can't press down the strings. It's hard to play any kind of bends. I guess that's because it's an accoustic though.
The finish was okay for a $150 guitar. It tends to chip and scratch easy, as if the clear coat was very thin. I really love the colors though. It has more of a reddish tone than the darker wood colors that I have seen. Another flaw in the guitar is that the front of the guitar is laminated plywood. You can also see the shape of the support braces from just looking at it. The top isn't really that thick. I don't think it would survive much of a drop or fall

Reliability/Durability : 5
I had this guitar for about 8 months before the brige broke. This guitar probably won't last. I'm kind of disappointed too, because this was my first guitar. I wanted to be able to keep it forever.
This guitar also tends to go out of tune pretty easily, I have to tune it about every two weeks if I play it a lot.
The strap button of the botton is pretty rock solid, but there is nowhere on the top to hook the strap, so I had to tie it around the neck like a 40' country star.
It would be dependable enough to play in front of your family at christmas. I wouldn't recommend this guitar for a gig, they'd all laugh at you and say, "what the f**k is that??"

Customer Support : 9
Like I said earlier, the bridge broke after 8 months, I took it back to the place I bought it and after about 3 weeks I had a new guitar, because Fender said they couldn't fix it. I guess it was easier to replace the guitar than actually pay someone to fix it.

Overall Rating : 6
I have been playing for about two and a half years, self-taught. I wished I had seen this site before I bought this guitar.
If it were lost or stolen I would be upset that someone stole my guitar, but I don't think that I would buy another one. I would probably invest in a little more quality next time. I do, however, recommend this guitar to people that are just starting to learn or have very, very little cash.

Pretty simple guitar. 1999 model, 20 frets, rosewood fretboard. Nice looking guitar, nothing special, but for $150, it aint a bad deal. If your reading this I assume you know the guitars specs.

Sound : 8
This guitar sounds great. Its not the sound you'll get from a Martin or a Gibson Hummingbird, but it sounds great to just beat around with. Very bright sound. I am not stoked about the bass notes, but again, for the price, this guitar is great.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action was set up perfect. No complaints. Finish was fine. No flaking, no bad spots.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I've used this guitar to jam out with at school, and it holds up fine. I wouldn't gig with it, but thats beside the point. Finish is fine, lasting great, and I play allot on this guitar.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never delt with em

Overall Rating : 8
Been playing over a year, I couldn't have asked for a better accoustic to start with. If anyone is considering it, I say go for it, great price, great guitar. If mine got stolen, I wouldn't buy another one, not because its bad, because I am currently looking for a better accoustic. I bought this guitar to jam out with where ever I go, something to just sort of toss around...and theres nothing better as far as I know.

20 frets, rosewood fretboard, natural finish, dreadnought body. A normal acoustic guitar. 5 because you can't say it's full of features, but it's not lacking(for a normal acoustic)

Sound : 8
I play oldies. I need an electric an acoustic. It serves it's purpose. The sound isn't too empty, but I've heard fuller sounding guitars.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
I bought it used, so there are some problems with it. Action's higher than an electric, but it's supposed to be. When I looked for a good used acoustic, I looked for cracks in the saddle, twisting of the neck, anything that could affect playability...exept for intonation. This is terribly out of whack in this area. How do you fix intonation for an acoustic?

Reliability/Durability : 7
If the intonation was set right, the guitar would be fine, but it's not. I bought a Dean Markley ProMag Pick-up for it... it died in 3 days. Don't get a ProMag.

Overall Rating : 5
Most guitarists have the same set-up...a single coil electric, a humbucker electric, an electric acoustic, and a good ol' acoustic. This guitar is definatley a regular old acoustic. Dang, I wish the intonation was set right and my sound hole pick-up worked... By the way... is it possible to fine tune an acoustic. Please help.

What can I say about features? It's an acoustic... It's made out of cheap wood but no one would ever know it... The only thing I wish it had is a built in pickup like the more expensive models do... but after playing those, the pickup is really the only difference between the two. The guitar looks amazing and sounds excellent

Sound : 10
For a cheap guitar (I paid $150 for it) it sounds as good as many expensive models. It is very LOUD but very nice. Good bass, good high tones, excellent harmonics, no buzzing, couldn't be better! Probably the best thing about this guitar is how it holds the tuning... I can tune it one day and not have to worry about it for a week... the whole guitar might slip about 10-15 cents flat after heavy playing (I play it aobut 3-4 hours a day) but it's still in tune with itself. Most guitars I've playing sound like crap after and hour but you won't need to tune this for days

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Compared to most guitars the body is a little big but it doesn't bother me... the finish is excellent but the action leaves a little to be desired. This is the guitar I learned on and it was a killer trying that F-barre chord compared to other guitars. Usually when I'm doing some finger picking I find myself using a cappo to increase the action. I'll probably get it fixed sometime soon, but that's really the only bad thing I have to say about this guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is a very dependable guitar. I've bashed it into a wall a few times but it still sounds great. The finish it a good as new after a year of intense playing. Holds up nicely

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never dealt with them and I don't think I'll ever have to.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for a year but I outplay most of my friends who's been at it for years. The guitar has come quite naturally to me and I don't think I could've started on that much better of a guitar. I highly recommend this for beginners, intermediates, or really cheap expert players... although they might want to fix the action... If this were stolen or lost, I'd buy a new one since it didn't cost that much and it was definately worth it. What I like best is the intonation of the guitar and the sound quality. If I were to sum it up: Loud, clear, affordable, and attractive.

DG-7 Acoustic guitar is a 20 fret, mini dreadnaught bodied flat-top instrument with a spruce top and Maranti sides and back. There is a rosewood fret board and chromed pot-metal machines (tuners). The finish is a gloss, poly coat that has a couple minor abberations around the seam where the neck joins the body. The sound hole is smooth and cleanly trimmed.

Sound : 8
The guitar has a nice mellow acoustic sound. I plan to use this guitar as a live gig box and also plan to use it on some recordings after slight modification. The guitar will be recorded or amplified live via mic and a PT-4 Ibanez pedal. The recording equipment I am using is a combination of Tascam Multi-Track and PC based solutions of n-Track Studio, PowerTracks Audio 5.0c, and Internet Audio Mix.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The action of this guitar could have been better considering the neck was perfect. The bridge was too high, though the action was even. I removed the insert on this bridge and filed it to the height I needed to get the low action I wanted and replaced the telephone-cable-like strings with Fender 10s to make it easy on my fingers (I typically play studio with Ovation guitars). I worked the bridge until the strings were 5/64ths of an inch above the 14th fret. This is just slightly above the height of my Ovation guitars.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is actually fairly well-made, structurally. The action was too high before my modification, although I've seen the same model set lower off the shelf. The finish is good and I'd expect to keep it that way. I've had many guitars over the years and I can make a cheaper guitar sound like a much more expensive model by a little setup and care. This guitar is no exception. The hardware is fairly solid. The machines should last for a good while before they'll have to be replaced.
With over 30 years playing experience, many years professionally, I can say I've never broken a guitar. I don't bang them around. I'd expect this guitar to last a long while with care. Being a plywood guitar, it will sound much the same many years from now as it does today.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No support needed.

Overall Rating : 10
This is a really good value in low-priced acoustic guitar. The beating given it was a bit far-fetched from what I can see. The guitar isn't a Martin or Gibson Gospel, but, for the price, it's a fine little axe.
My preference is for smaller-bodied acoustics (shallow bowl Ovations, slim Washburns, and Epiphone Casino-type jax axes). I like the smaller body depth and sweet tone of this guitar a lot. When you mic a guitar that is too deep you get mud. This guitar, especially with 10s is a nice, full, yet bright acoustic and sounds great on the final cut.

My assumption is this guitar is an import, but I'm not too hard on that sort of thing so that's fine with me. It looked gorgeous when I got it, and still looks pretty good...though the finish on the neck has been wearing as I've been playing it. The action on this guitar is really good, requiring a little more finger strength than may seem called for, but it's really not too bad. Very good for the least expensive name brand acoustic on the market.

Sound : 8
The sound on this guitar is something to be admired. I bought it as what I thought to be your run-of-the-mill beginner's guitar (it did only cost me 180 new), and what I got was quite a surprise. It's full, clean, and LOUD. The one complaint I have is that notes played above the 12th fret either choke or decay very quickly. I've seen acoustics that play better higher on the neck, but this isn't a Martin.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
As I'd mentioned before, the action is considerable. Makes your fingers stronger just looking at it, but it's great in that when I play hard it won't buzz or kill itself. The finish is beautiful, though it's worn and faded on the neck pretty quickly. I do play it a lot (at least an hour a day, most of the time four), but I've only had it 10 months. I didn't get it for its looks though. I got it for something to play.

Reliability/Durability : 7
It has withstood live playing, though my "audiences" never break more than six or seven people. (Why my friends subject themselves to my playing, I'll never fully understand.) The thing itself is a beast...I can't tell you how many times I've banged it pretty hard into things, but it hasn't changed the sound at all. The one thing that worries me are the pegs down on the bridge...I'm worried that they might wear out a little too soon and I'll be out one acoustic guitar.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never had any dealings with them, so I honestly don't know.

Overall Rating : 9
I took a semester of music theory and read as much on music as I could a year and a half before I finally got my first real instrument. I'd been playing LOTS of different guitars trying to see what kind I might like to get, but ended up getting this because I didn't have a lot for funds and I really wanted to play. For the money this thing is an awesome buy. I wouldn't have expected the appearance or sound to be quite as it is for that kind of money. This I think is the best guitar out there for a beginner...which is why I bought it. =) It's inexpensive, durable, and has a beautiful sound and look. What can I say? I'm in love with it.

None, really. Cheapo Indonesian-made acoustic guitar with laminated spruce top and back/sides made out of some type of plywood so cheesy i don't recall the euphemistic name Fender uses to refer to it. For all that, aside from a few spots on the soundboard near the neck where they missed applying the plastic spray-on finish, this thing is actually quite beautiful to the eye. The tuners are low-grade chrome--not even smooth chrome, as a close inspection reveals a slightly pitted surface...BUT they are amazingly smooth to USE, and this thing holds its tuning like no acoustic i've ever owned. i almost didn't even try it out because it was so cheap ($149)...but man, am i glad i did. The rosewood neck is natural brown, not dyed ebony. i think it really enhances the overall appearance.

Sound : 10
i don't have a musical style--i play everything on this thing from acoustic Led Zep songs to the guitar arrangement for the prelude to Bach's "Well-Tempered Piano" to 12-bar blues to fingerpicked tunes a la Kansas's "Dust In the Wind" to...
Well, it sounds GREAT on all of 'em. i'm not a great guitar player by any means, but i do have an ear for good tone, and this thing has it in spades. This cheap hunk of plywood seems to defy the laws of acoustics. i don't know how they did it, but this guitar sounds as good as just about any i've played. Some of my elitist Taylor- and Martin-playing guitar-snob acquaintances seem both astounded and bothered by the fact that it sounds so damn good. =^) Beautiful, clear bass and sparkly, chiming highs. Harmonics sound like chimes. Good, even, bright tone all around...and LOUD.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
i've got some good news and some bad news. When i got this baby home, i discovered the neck was seriously out of alignment. No problem, though--i took it right back to Sam Ash and the tech fixed it in 15 minutes. Then i had to listen to him "test" it for another 15. People have a hard time putting this guitar down. The action is phenomenal--almost as good as my Strat's. You can play real lead on this thing (i do, and i suck ). Is the wood good quality? No. But you'd never know it by the sound, and it sure LOOKS pretty ....

Reliability/Durability : 6
i have a hunch i'll have to take good care of this one...but it's worth it. i don't gig (i play/jam strictly for personal enjoyment), so i don't care that it's not exactly a workhorse. It fulfills every requirement i could have: it was dirt cheap, it's nice to look at, it plays like a dream and sounds like--well, like another dream--and holds tune like a cheap guitar has no business doing. Jesus, i love this damn guitar. :)))

Customer Support : No Opinion
i hear Fender's support sucks, but i'd be pretty embarrassed to try to get support for a $149 guitar....
i intend to take good care of her though.

Overall Rating : 10
i've been playing off and on since age 13 (i'm 34), but i've only recently begun really seriously studying the instrument. i also own a bottom-of-the-line Strat, a Univox (!) dreadnaught acoustic--i swear, mine's the only one of *those* i've ever seen...it's gorgeous, but plays and sounds like absolute sh*t--an Ibanez Strat clone, and a Goya 12-string. i have an old Marlboro (huh???) 80-watt solid-state amp with dual 12-inch speakers and a small Crate practice amp with Groove Tubes. Effectwise, i get by with an original MXR Distortion+, a BOSS Chorus pedal, and my newest toy, a ZOOM GFX-707 effects processor.
If you come across a DG-7 somewhere for twice what i paid for mine...buy it. =^)
P.S. Anyone out there from Queens looking for someone to jam with?

There aren't many features on an acoustic. It has some pretty good tuner's. They're easy to turn but never slip. It took me a few weeks before I had to tune it again, after I got it. It also has a nice tortise shell pickguard. I don't know if all models do, but mine says Fender all over the Pickguard. The bridge seems to be sturdy. The strings fit into little pegs that are pressed into the guitar body to hold them in place. The nut seems to be plactic but I haven't had any problems with it. The onlything I don't care for too much is that there isn't any strap button on the top of the guitar. That means the strap (if you're using one) must be tied onto the neck, but I've goten used to it. The guitar didn't come with anything else. Just a box, insctuction book and I think a warrenty card.

Sound : 10
The sound really surprised me! I was comparing it to a used ibanez around the same price range. Ths guitar sounded better to me. It's very full and stong. The bass strings have a really nice sound to them. I just wanted an acoustic to see how it would campare to my electrics. At the time I got the guitar, I had been playing for almost three years. I don't have any dislikes about this guitars sound. I really didn't think I could get such a good sounding guitar for the price.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The action was/is great. That's the first thing that atracted me to it, that and the price. I think the action on this acoustic is better then my strat. It's not too low, so that's good too. The wood seems to be good and the finish is really nice looking. I've chiped the wood a little in some places but nothing really bad. I've treated it pretty well and it's holding up okay. I haven't seen anything where the finish peels off like some people said in the other posts. It's been fine for me. I bot a bottle of guitar polish. I use that on it and it really keeps it looking great.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is very strong. I was worried when I first got it because I bought it as a souvenier sort of thing when I was on vacation in Niagra Falls Canada. So I had to bring on the 10 hour train trip home riding on the lugage rack. The Amtrack ride wasn't so bad. It was amasing that it survived the trek through New York Pen Station and the NJ Trasit ride home. Of course if you don't live inNY or NJ you wouldn't really understand what I'm talking about. Trust me though, this thing is tough!

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never had to deal with Fender but this guitar does have a lifetime warrenty. I'm sure this would only cove very major defects the it had from the factoy. If I ever have trouble that I don't think is my fault, I won't have any trouble contacting Fender.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for around 3 1/2 years. I also own two electric guitars. One harmony and one epiphone. If this guitar were stolen I would be pretty upset. I wouldn't have any trouble buying another Fender acoustic. I feel that they DO make good acoustic guitars despite what some people may say. I might go for one that costs a little more money because it would be nice to have one that's amplified. Of course I don't need to have it stolen first, I could buy a pickup or have one instaled if I really want to. I compared this to an ibanez, an epiphone that cost a lot more money that didn't even sound very good and some other really cheap guitar I hated. I would recomend this guitar to anyone who wants to know what an acoustic is all about, like me. I don't feel that this guitar is limited to just a beginer or intermediet. I think anyone who wants a ghreat acoustic and can't pay a lot for one should look into the Fender DG-7

Standard Acoustic guitar made for Fender in Indonesia. It has a Rosewood neck, and a decent plastic-spray on finish. Dreadnought body, standard 20-fret neck (14 clear of the body). Didn't come w/ any accessories.

Sound : 7
This guitar will decently suit most acoustic styles, and the sound is great for the price (although it is a little flat). Overall, the sound is pretty well-balanced and can compare to other acoustic guitars in the same price range.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Finish isin't the best, but it looks real nice. However, it is not immune to chipping (its basically plastic spray-on) Otherwise its perfectly configured, frets are even and well balanced. The neck might need tuning every once in a while though, it isin't rock solid.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I'd use this guitar as a backup if I was playing live. It seems like it'll take a degree of a beating and could stand up to regular playing for at least a couple years if its not mistreated. I doubt this thing is going anywhere for a while.

Customer Support : 2
The guitar is under _LIMITED_ lifetime warranty. Basically, the warranty covers if the guitar is in two pieces when you take it out of the box. Any wear and tear, finish problems etc, its your problem. I'll probably never deal with Fender on this guitar.

Overall Rating : 7
I've been playing about a year, and I think this guitar is a good investment for someone who just wants an acoustic guitar to have one/play it sometimes. If it were stolen, I'd be indifferent about it. Basically, its a decent beginner/intermediate acoustic guitar that'll bring you days of contentment.

OK. Well it is an acoustic guitar, and sound does come out of it occasionally. But other than that, not too much. It did come with a nice gig bag, which i use for other guitars, and some pics. Oh yeah, it has tuners.

Sound : 4
It sounds pretty flat for a guitar THIS big.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
Dont get me started... The "finish" on the neck has chipped and flaked off consitantly since i got this thing. The frets were put on in the wrong order, so they dont even cover the entire fret board, and the strings get caught on them. It takes 3 grown men and a small dog to turn the tuners half a turn.

Reliability/Durability : 1
This thing is about as durable as a piece of flash paper in an inferno. The plastic spray "finish" is flaking off in leaves. The tuners are looking like the leaning tower of piza. But i have banged it up a bit.. so it hasnt structually fallen apart...yet.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I dunno
