perfect for my style of music unacompanied solo work. Sound is between maple and rosewood initially bright but themore its been played has gotten a richer more complex tone. Great for strumming fingerstyle and great single strin definition for subtle voicings.

Gibson could not give me any info on this guitar makes you wonder why bother putting serial numbers on these guitars if they cannot tell you about the #s in the run etc...

been playing over 20 yrs own gibson emmy lou harris Type1, Gibson j100 xtra, Gibson limited edition AJ Custom shop walnut, epiphone masterbilt ef500R 2 Maruha archtops epiphone BB king lucille. Always wanted Koa wood guitar and Like the shorter scale of the J185 Its smaller than a jumbo and way cooler than a dreadnaught.Added Plus Koa has a great smell to it!
