Nitrocellulose laquer finish with aging toner. 00 body size. Custom machined 3 on a plate open back tuners with white buttons. Big, fat D neck; short scale; standard frets; 14 fret neck; Madagascar rosewood fingerboard with pearl dots. Solid red spruce top. Honduran mahogany back, sides & neck. Personally I think the aging toner is ugly, but the feel is just right.

I play everything with this guitar from fingerstyle to flatpicking to to full on freak out raging...it does it all. It has a lovely sound when played softly and continues to put out no matter how hard you bash on it. Produces the kind of sound that will make one say, "hmm, did someone sit on a duck?"
Big loud bass, punchy midrange and a versitile high end.

Mine is a prototype, so it's a little rough in some places. I had to get the frets finished at a warranty center. Recent production models I've seen are pretty much perfect or better than average(for Gibson) in terms of finish details.

As opposed to original L-00s, the Legends series is a little overbuilt. The finish is a little on the thick side. This guitar is a tank and I drag it all over the world with me. I looked a long time for one guitar to cover all the bases with...no complaints.

Without question I'd have another one custom made if it was ever lost or stolen - without the aging toner finish and maybe birch or pearwood back/sides.
I hope to have it around for a long, long time. It will be a truly bad-*** guitar when I'm too old to play anymore.
Prohibitively expensive would be my only valid gripe
