Not very good at quantifying sound quality but let me just say that a few of my Taylors stayed in their cases and eventually ended up for sale after I bought this ECJC.
Overtones galore, unbelievable volume. First few days I owned it, I swore the phone or the doorbell rang every time I played. After a while, I realized that it was the overtones. My ears have become so partial to the Goodall tone that any other guitar that sounds too different no longer interests me.
Almost sounds like you're plugged into a chorus pedal when strummed. Equally full and lush when fingerpicked. My kinda acoustic sound.

Got mine slightly used but it came looking like it was brand spanking new. No noticeable imperfections even under careful inspection and scrutiny.

I emailed the Goodall factory a couple of times and received a response from James and another from his wife. I also called to talk about my next Goodall purchase and his wife answered the phone. James later returned my call the same day.

New 2003. Built by James Goodall in Hawaii. Concert Jumbo body size with cutaway. Macassar ebony back and sides, euro spruce top. All solid woods--Goodall does nothing but--bound in ebony, with blue paua rosette, and gloss finish.

I've had for 7 months and the top has opened up a bunch. Macassar ebony has a bell-like tone--so the fundamentals & harmonics are very clear and strong. This guitar projects. The bass is tight, but not boomy--well balanced with shimmering trebles. I have failed to find a single spot up and down the scale...it sings in every position. Goodall's trademark is the strength of the harmonic overtones. If you like a dry, straight-forward vintage sound, this is not it. This is essentially a fingerstyle instrument, and one of the very fine guitars I've ever played!

The quality of the woods is very high. The ebony has strong contrasting stripes, and the top looks creamy with strong cross-silking. The binding, backstrip and heel graft are all done with precision. The only gripe was that the high E on the nut wasn't cut correctly, and buzzed. It was easy to fix--but rather irritating on a high-end instrument.

Goodall's are built to be heirloom guitars. Unlike other manufacturers who build and brace very lightly, Goodall makes guitars of substance and longevity.

James is very accessible via phone and email. Always helpful and very firendly. Warranty is for 5 years. Goodall's say that if nothing goes wrong after 5 years, nothing will.

Been playing 30 years. I also own a Goodall Jumbo, Huss and Dalton OM, and a Larivee beater guitar. I'd replace this in a heartbeat: if the house were on fire, my family and this guitar would go out first! What I love about it is what we all love about our favorite acoustics: the sound. It inspires me to play longer & compose more often. Fine guitars reveal greater tonal character and complexity. In short you hear more music. The more sensitive the instrument, the more attack and other more subtle nuances translate during a performance.
