Mahogony back and sides, with a beautiful creamy Adirondack top that looks and feels really special (cutaway). Neck is one-piece mahagony. Schaller chrome tuners with very positive yet sensitive control (I prefer them to Grovers, which I have on my Taylor 814). Maple trim and abalone around soundhole. No pick up fitted.

I play fairly complex fingerstyle, from roots, to blues, new age and jazz. I chose this model out of a selection of about four Goodalls at the store because of its very positive and punchy sound, that has wonderful note separation (single note runs just bounce right out the box), combined with full blocking chords and controllable sustain where necessary. Very different to my two rosewood / spruce guitars that are more mellow, verging on muddiness at times. My only (very slight) criticism is a tendency to sounding a little jangly after a long session, which can be cured by holding back the volume somewhat. I am hoping this will mature with long-term use.

Action was a bit high on purchase, and I noticed a slightly bowing of the neck, which was quickly adjusted by the dealer - and is now perfect. However, the finish is delightful, there is a smoothness to the varnish (or whatever) that makes the guitar 'strokable' - and the neck really fast. Pegs individually fitted to the strings. Headstock glows with the Goodall logo. Only flaw - a bit of glue visible against one of the back frets, so I'll dock one point.

This guitar feels like it's built to last - solid (but not heavy). Best of all, it's a true solo instrument that does not need back up - no wonder it's called a 'concert jumbo'. This can be played solo (with mic if necessary) at any gathering.

Only one contact - a query about strings, which was answered immediately.

I've been playing for about 30 years, and this is the best guitar I've every picked up. To be frank, I could hardly believe a guitar could sound so good. A fascinating combination of woods (mahogany and Adirondack) that gives a unique projection (I bet we're going to see more of these). A special appeal is the size of the guitar - very comfortable to hold in my 6ft frame, a delight to pick up and bring against the body. Just take a moment to feel the pleasure before starting to play. It deserves an overall 10, or I would not have bought it.

i can only afford 1 great guitar, so it must be versatile. i play all styles. you can play great fingerstyle but even better w agressive flatpicking. full rich sound, well balanced good bass, full mids and clear bright treble, even with worn strings. wood combination makes it loud. dreadnaught loud, while being very comfortable to play for long periods. extremely easy to play, fast neck. lr baggs dual source is top notch with my trace elliot ta100.
