This is a 1983, 20 fret Rosewood Standard which has been played. As far as I can tell it doesn't need a warrenty. The spruce top has darkened to dark rich honey color with numerous ticks and marks. You guys who own the current models are in for a treat as it ages.
The integrity of construction is 100%.

This guitar is full and rich with plenty of overtones and a mellow articulate balance. I play blues and folk styles and have no reservations about taking this guitar anywhere. The sound projection is emmense. It seems to begin in the center of the box and projects from that point with huge sustain. The only thing I like better than playing is listening to this guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Factory set up is original with bone saddle and nut. The saddle is cut for each string seperatly so that it is intonated correctly. The tuners are the original Gotoh and function well. The rosewood back with koa binding has survived with signs of use but no damage. The fit is as James built it 22 years ago, perfection. The neck does not need to be reset and plays well without any fret problems.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I will take this guitar anywhere. The stage, the lake, the studio...anywhere. Not much to go wrong with this one.

I emailed James Goodall with questions about this guitar and he responded within 24 hours with answers. I believe his attention to detail doesn't stop with his guitars.

Overall Rating : 10
I hate to think of losing this friend and I am not on a quest for a better steel string. I have an upgraded Collings D-3, a Martin J-40,
a John David Scott maple body, 2 Melancon tele style electrics and a Fender 52 RI. Each has its place but stranded on a Island I would choose the Goodall. This guitar has a large body and may not be for everyone but for me its the flagship.

NOTE: Goodall guitars are fantastic -- but they do NOT come with lifetime warranties. The warranty is only 5 years to the original owner. That's not really good for a hand-made, expensive instrument. I think this is the one negative of Goodall instruments.

-A Goodall Owner.

2001 Model Goodall Rosewood Standard, Custom order. Similar in proportsion to a dreadhnaught, but a little larger. Master Grade German Spruce top, AAA grade Indian Rosewood back and sides, Extra curly Koa binding, Ebony bridge, fretboard, and headstock, mahogany neck (I think), buffed/gloss neck, Premium Paua rosette, premium fossilized walrus ivory nut, saddle and pegs. LR Baggs I-Beam active pickup, Schaller tuners with Ebony tuning buttons, 14 fret neck, no cut-away. Quite simply, the most beautiful acoustic guitar I have seen.

Sound : 10
The tone is unbelievable. Fat, bassy tone, yet lots of highs too. Subtle harmonics can be heard with a simple pluck of any note. They ivory helps sustain quite noticably. I have had many, many compliments on the sound of this guitar from folks that own Taylors, Martins, etc. The sounds this guitar makes just amazes me.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action is perfect for my playing style. The cool thing is that if you order a Goodall, you can call James or Jean Good themselves, and rap with them a bit about your playing style and other things you would like to see in your guitar. They will taylor the specs pretty much how you want them. The guitar is hand made, and appears to have been given every bit of attention to detail. The action, alignment, and everything are quite nice. There are no dead or noisy frets, or any flaws of any kind on this guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 10
The guitar seems sturdy enought to me, but it does have a few extra care requirements that lower-end guitars seem don't. For instance, a case/soundhole humidifier is recommended to extend the life of the guitar. Other than that, the guitar feels solid, balanced, and sturdy. I would use it in a gig, certainly, and I have no doubt that it would hold up. The finish is noce too. I have already scared myself by rubbing the back up against a belt buckle or the rivets in my jeans, but there have been no scratches thus far. I like that.

Customer Support : 10
I talked directly to James Goodall, the head hancho up there at Goodall Guitars. I think that just about says it all. The guitars come with a lifetime warranty for the original owner of the guitar as well.

Overall Rating : 10
When I bought this guitar, I was looking for a guitar that would not only last me the rest of my life, but would also quench my thirst for another, better acoustic guitar. Well, I can see now that the grass is no longer greener on the other side, from where I stand at least. I see myself being happy with this guitar for a long, long time.

Imagine walking into a department store that sells damaged goods, closeouts and liquidations and seeing the guitar of your dreams.Aparently a music store caught fire and they bought their stock.Anyhow the guitar is goodall rosewood standard with an engleman top and fancy abalone inlays with koa binding.Mahogany neck with ebony fretboard. Not a scratch on the guitar-perfect!Even with rusty old strings this guitar sounded like heaven. It was the best acoustic i've heard hands down! And now for the price :It was expensive $1200 dollars(sarcasm).Talk about being lucky. And that was with his beautiful hardshell case.

Sound : 10
This guitar is so responsive you can play everything from Jobim to heavy bluegrass.Beautiful killer tone that words cant describe. You know it rules when your wife can even comment on the tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Impeccable workmanship, good set up and I usually never like the way guitars come from the factory.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've had it for three years w/o any probems

Last year I took a vacation to hawaii and made a point to go check out the factory.James and his wife personally showed me the entire process of making their guitars. After the tour they let me play many finished guitars.I really feel like their there if I need any repairs or assistance.Plus, they are really nice people.

Overall Rating : 10
At 1200 dollars it was a steal but even if it was full pop $3200 It would be a steal.Of course all brands sound different and santa cruz, collings etc make great guitars nothing I have encountered sounds as rich as a Goodall. My martin sounds small in comparison.
